Amazing and powerful

Cannot recommend enough, especially for anyone going through difficult mindstates. I really like that it's based in science, but also solidly on the ancient wisdom of Buddhist philosophy.

Exactly What I Wanted

This book is perfectly titled. It says exactly what it is: an excellent overview of the field of mindfulness and the science behind it. The lecturer is great and easy to listen to. The lectures are interesting and very helpful, thought-provoking, and jammed with interesting research. There are two things I thought could have been better. (1) There are a small number of lectures that recycle content from earlier lectures. The same research or story is used again. Not really a big deal, but made me do a double take while listening because I thought I had accidentally started a lecture I'd already listened to. (2) There are also great

Informative, relevant, and applicable

After reading about Centering Prayer (meditation from the Christian tradition) I turned to this book for the scientific approach. it was a great balance. this book also offers different types of practices, like loving-kindness and leaning into fear, which I've found to be a useful addition to the basic practice.

Great lectures

Really well put together. Slow to start but made sense to me as he went on as to why he explained things in this manner. I'm a newbie to mindfulness but after listening to this book plan on making it a part of my life. Doesn't sound positive in the beginning but as he goes along it all makes sense and is very helpful and can be a very positive experience.

It was great

I found he talked a bit too much during the exercises for me personally but other than that he was fantastic.I think I laughed a little in self-reflection.

Chapter titles would be very helpful

With so much great content in this audio course, a table of contents is very necessary. I can already tell I will revisit the book, but it'll be challenging without proper labeling. otherwise, this book covers a lot of ground and I love the material.

More support for the benefits of meditation

A higher dose of trial results related to mindfulness and various meditation techniques. Less fluffy and more empirical.

Excellent non-spiritual intro to meditation class

Great course! Best meditation introduction I have come across. Really appreciated the neuroscience insights. Definitely recommend for anyone interested in meditation but turned off by religious/spiritual associations.

This really explains why mindfulness works

I really enjoyed this lecture series. As a beginning meditator, I wanted to know more about mindfulness, but I also needed some guidance. This had both. He does a wonderful job of explaining so many aspects of the why and the how. He's also very warm and funny as a speaker. There are also some guided meditations at the end that were helpful.

Scientific Based Meditation

I like something supported by science, proofs, facts and experimental results. It reinforce what I believe about meditation's benefits.
