Publisher's summary

Meghan can't afford to take a break.

She's gotten food and shelter for her family. Her oldest is turning into a wizard, her middle boy is some kind of self-healing monkey, and her youngest is accumulating a small army of pets. That's a bit much to roll with, but when monsters are appearing on the lawn, it's probably for the best.

What worries her is the mysterious—and dangerous—"challenge" she knows is fast approaching, and she's got to get her kids and community ready to face it. Some neighbors are ready and willing to pitch in, but others? They might end up being a bigger problem than the alien monsters.

if you're a nerdy parent read this series!

the way the characters are portrayed really make you relate to them and the children and makes you wonder if you would do the same intheir situations. I feel like these are my kids and I got so concerned about the outcome! I am very much looking forward to what happens next.

Great series

One of my favorite series. I really enjoy what Erin is doing and how I could picture my kids doing some of the same things if they were in an apocalypse

Nicely paced, nicely progressed, looking forward to the next one.

I was very pleased with book 1 and now book 2 I’ve completed both in a 3 day window. I really like the pacing. As a parent myself this has created a new thought process for fun of the what if this happened type scenario. I’ve really appreciated how thought out this is especially for incorporating young children. There are a decent amount of human error type mistakes that are very expected and yeah they aren’t good but they are at least realistic considering. Not an OP MC and not just blessed with gift after gift. This grind is real the learning is what I’d expect to be proper. Enjoy

great addition

another great story. I'm usually a little disappointed when the mc takes the more sedate role and get kind of railroaded but this one made logical sense. in fact the mc is quite the smart cookie and I appreciate it. she's not perfect but she also pretty clearly just knows the right thing to do most of the time. and she learns from mistakes

Erin & LCW do it again

What a great tale and addition to the series and world of LitRPG. I can’t wait for the next book.

Positive Headline

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a great continuation of the " realistic " dealing with being transported into an apocalypse. Was not a fan of the transition to the children's perspective at the end, but it did make sense in terms of continuing the story.

Very Good

Adding the Family aspect to a litrpg story is surprisingly refreshing. The characters are compelling and realistic. The setting and story is also well done for what it is. Like a Family Friendly (well for the most part) Dungeon Crawler Carl.

Also, the voice over work by Laurie Catherine Winkel is superb. The studio editing is also great.

Really looking forward to the next book in this series!

Can’t wait for the next one!

I started this series while looking for my next read/listen. I was hooked within the first chapter of the first book-I’ve always wondered how one handles being a parent during an apocalypse and it’s really easy to identify with Megan, and company, navigating her new environment. LCW does a fantastic job bringing the story to life.
