Story
Infinite Worlds is the most popular VRMMORPG on the market. Its maps are so vast, developer Hard Rock Data utilizes a network of highly advanced artificial intelligences to control it. But it’s not without problems. That’s why Game Masters like Jeff Driscoll have jobs. The downside? He’s not allowed to play the game. Something about conflicts of interest and favoritism. His very boring and tedious job is to help players deal with the occasional bug that slips through the cracks and ensure they enjoy their time playing enough to give a five-star rating.

Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. He’s not the hero. He’s not the villain. He’s certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. He’s a clerical error. It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you.

It was great, till the end
I loved this book, it was great, except the last part
*Spoilers*
.
.
.
.
.
When Jeb is confronted by the council and he loses all his powers and then wakes up on the new earth with no power, and the implication from the 2nd book's description showing that Jeb doesn't have his power back? What was the point of him earning all that he did. Why even both having him earn any power if you're just gonna strip it away, and the fact that you basically took away so much of his character development away. it actually makes me want to avoid the 2nd book when it comes out.
You don't spend an entire book building up on a character and their power just to literally take it all away all, especially when there were 5 others who committed the same "crime" but they didn't get this punishment.

Finally, a non harem litrpg with character growth
This genre is so overdone right now with generic puberty driven character motivations. Nothing wrong with that except it makes it difficult to find a decent story not clogged with clumsy (usually cringey) sex scenes.
This feels more relatable. The main cast of characters are not 2 dimensional cutouts and they don't make plot device dumb choices. The main protagonist is clever, funny, and you do root for him and the characters he encounters.
The ending is satisfying with a good hook for the follow up. Another reviewer chastised the ending, but in the scope of the setting, it felt justified to me and potentially leading to even more character development in the next volume in the series.
The narrator does a fantastic job. I was never confused as to which character was speaking. so good in fact, if I was on the fence about a title and saw this narrator, I'd take the chance.
if I had to make a comparison on the theme: Ready Player One meets Sword Art Online but with less teenage angst. I will definitely be getting the next installment when it's released

Very good!!
Bought this on a whim for something to listen to while waiting for another book to come out, and so happy I did! Very well done characters flushed out just the right amount to make them all interesting without getting to bogged down in back story. The magic system is VERY well thought out!! Reminds me of the Dresden files with explaining how and why the magic works instead of a generic fireball or lightning spell. 5 stars!!!

Great story, terrible ending
If you’re going into this book looking for a story about the main character progressing in strength (which most litrpg books are about) you will likely enjoy this book right up until the end. At which point you will become just as furious as I was.
Spoilers! Spoilers! Spoilers!
I’m giving one spoiler which I wish I had been told before I started this book. The main character is stripped of all his power and the system that everyone else has. He is not rewarded at all for anything he achieves. He is punished.

Lots of fun
good story well told with loads of interesting ways to abuse a system...
and abuse is right, because the blurb might say that the difficulty is impossible, but it feels more like easy, this is a book about a overpowered MC that's hyper capable even when presented otherwise and if a challenge requires something specific they either got it 5 min ago or know where to find it...
still, the journey is fun as is the combat, so if you are in the mood for a MC that wins at everything, this is the book for you...
even the Narrator is extremely talented and his many voices stays so constant that you know who is talking with it being said and his female voices even made me forget it was a single narrator book

Highly Recommend!!!
Wow! I really enjoyed this book. I can usually figure out how a book will end beforehand, but this one kept me on my toes (in a good way). The author's approach to the magic system made this a fun and interesting read (or in my case listen) from start to finish.
The voice actor for the audiobook did a really good job as well. His pacing felt natural. He voiced the book in a way that brought the characters to life and made the story feel even more immersive.

Solid 4/5
Good story, it includes a detailed progression system and a variety of different classes.
All characters including the MC show growth from the start to the end of the book.
Story contains some humor but it is throughly entertaining from start to finish.
I will be getting the next book as I'm interested to see what will happen next

One of the good ones
with these types of books, so many things can ruin them...
from the narrators voice to questionable acts by the MC. So it's nice to actually read a book that doesn't make any of them and is actually really good.

This is it!
This is the most enjoyable listen I have had in a long time.
I have unfortunately been labeled a lunatic by my neighbors. Me sitting on my balcony cackling madly with laughter with no-one close-by.
But who cares.
I usually go by, “If a book makes you feel something then it is a keeper”. This book have kept a foolish grin on my face, from start to finish.
The narration by Steve Campbell.
Hard to describe in words. This is what you want out of a storyteller. Just give him 40 more years and you have Gandalf sitting around the fire telling stories to a spellbound audience.
If there is something i don’t like then it is the LitRPG summery of (skills usually) inventory. If you read it yourself then it is ok, since you can just skimmer thou it. But to listen to the summery is just annoying.
Fortunately there is a pretty limited amount of it.

Perfectly decent Progression book
Good book with a decent cast of characters. The system is very straightforward and none of the concepts are overly complex. I enjoyed a lot of the character interactions especially some unexpected mature decisions made by the MC.
Why not 5/5 for story? Because it felt a bit formulaic. While the book itself was really enjoyable it was a bit of a repackaging of things I've seen before. It's still miles ahead of most books in the System Apocalypse genre.
I'm tempted to read the rest of the series and the narration was great.

Enjoyable
The story is imaginative and fast paced. LITRPG in a real world, not a simulation. The author neatly avoids the LITRPG trap of over powered heroes. Recommended.

BEWARE: author dropped two novels at 1000+ pages
Beware Macronomicon have dropped at least two novels already because of "creative crisis". You can check them out on RR.
Other than that he is a very good author :D
The novel like always funny, witty and pervy :3
Voice acting is superb too.
VERY GOOD!

Hi, I'm Troy McClure. You may remember me from...
Hi, I'm Troy McClure. You may remember me from narrating Apocalypse: Generic System. We'll get to that in a minute, but let's talk about the book itself, first.
I've got such mixed feelings about this one. Ultimately I'm giving the book 4 stars, but it could be anywhere between 3 and 5 depending on where you are in the story.
I feel like I came into this novel because of a lie, which I guess doesn't help. The main blurb talks about the MC being high and making crazy decisions. Be warned that in reality, this is literally just the first few paragraphs. There's no crazy hijinks, there's no humorous antics. It's just set up to get into a reasonably mediocre, generic adventure story.
But that's not why this book could swing anywhere from 3-5 stars. The 3 star stuff all comes at the front:
The first 70% of this book is super generic litRPG. There is zero world building: the characters have literally been kidnapped and thrust into a crazy, life altering, everyone-is-dying, monsters are everywhere world, but the characters have zero interest in knowing why they are there or what is happening to them. They are just transported to a world with computer game like mechanics and are like "cool, ok better defeat the boss."
The first 70% of this book also has zero emotion or character growth. For example (very minor spoiler), the MC loses a foot within the first chapter or so, but doesn't seem particularly bothered by this or mentally or physically agonised about what is a pretty major injury. There's plenty of references to him stomping around on a peg leg, but the dude seemingly has no issues with losing a limb.
Then we hit the last 30%, and it's like the author suddenly remembered all the things he left out of the first bit. The MC starts suffering PTSD flashbacks from his time before this all started. The leg gets mentioned more. We get hints at a wider world, though still no reason why this ordeal is happening to humanity. It's good, and the reason I could possibly give this book 5 stars. The ending gets creative and their solution to their problems start rising beyond generic and into interesting.
Unfortunately, in the last 30% we also get crafting. Now don't get me wrong, I love crafting. It's a brilliant part of gamelit. But the crafting in this book is just... painful. I'm sure the MC's incomprehensible musings about refraction, optics and lenses might make sense to someone more educated than myself, or to those reading (not listening) to the book where they could re-read at their own pace, but for me it just felt like 20-minute blocks of boring, hard to understand setup for non important items that the author desperately wanted the MC to miraculously find useful later down the track.
Anyway. My title for this review mentioned Troy McClure, so let's talk about that.
The narrator for this novel is terrible. He tries too hard and over acts on every sentence, leaving the book sound like it's narrated by a half-baked Troy McClure. My advice: listen to the sample before purchasing. Some people won't care about this. For others (like myself) it will be like nails down a blackboard. So yeah, be warned.
I'm not sure why so many other people have given this book glowing reviews, but for my money this book lives up to it's name. Generic.

This book was great!
I really enjoyed the characters ingenuity and journey I was taken on. I'm glad that the following two books of the series are available.

Bit of a roller coaster
Bit of a ride emotional level wise but it keeps you invested cant wait to see how book 2 goes especially since the way this was written means you really cant predict anything big picture but if the style holds true should be excellent

An ebjoyable listen that stumbles the finish.
Spoilerish.
It was an enjoyable arc until after the fire titan and world turtle fight where instead of dealing with the crushing consequences of being trapped and realising that they missed their window of oppotunity to win. jeb immediately comes up with a way to do the impossible commences a time skip and wins.... then its undercut by a random God influencing the tutorial you could have easily fit in a farming sequence to level 50 and the dystopian vibe was kinda ruined when they were allowed to openly subvert the tutorial.
The ending just came off as rushed and not alot of character development was achieved, maybe its saved for the second book but overall the start of the series should involve a bit more of everything.
Reserving my opinion for book 2.
