Publisher's Summary

Tame. Train. Battle.

Fans of Pokémon, Digimon, and Monster Rancher love this monster-battling series!

Jackson Hunt wants nothing more than to be a professional monster tamer - skilled trainers who raise and battle magical creatures called Djinn. He longs for the day when he comes of age and can leave home to pursue his dreams of taming Djinn.

Unfortunately for Jackson, dreams and reality don’t always coincide.

To help his grandmother make ends meet, Jackson spends his days doing manual labor on a breeder’s ranch - just about as far removed from the bright lights and roaring crowds of the DBL (Djinn Battle League) as it gets. But no matter how hard Jackson and his grandma try, it’s never enough.

Facing bank foreclosure, Jackson is desperate to save his home but has no idea how…until he discovers a young, untrained Djinn left behind for him by his dead mother.

As time runs out, Jackson works tirelessly to raise and develop a bond with his Djinn. But monster taming isn’t as easy as the pros make it look. Along the way, Jackson and his friends will delve into the shady world of underground fighting, experience the agony of defeat and learn what it takes to be a true monster tamer.

Will Jackson and his Djinn level up fast enough or is his dream destined to die before it even truly begins?

I had no idea I needed this!

Pokemon grew up a little bit and became Djinn Tamer. Trust me... I'm fine with Pokemon. No complaints. Not looking to fix it. But this brought back all the nostalgia AND told a very awesome new story. Jackson is a great MC, and believable.

The detailed Djinncyclopedia on the author's website is an awesome addition! There's so much effort and depth put into this book, I absolutely cannot wait for book two, and three, and thirty.

Oliver Wyman is at his best.

If you like LitRPG, Pokemon, Wyman, or just a great freaking book... this is it!!

Come get your pokemon fix

First and formost: I was given a free copy of this book at my request in exchange for an unbiased review.

It's good. That is what you should take from my review. not mind blowing. Not the best of all time. But very good. it's got allthe things a good pokemon story needs. No father figure, a snarky competitive rival, a reliable companion, and of course monsters fighting each other in competition.

If none of that got you, then maybe this isn't the book for you.

Pokemon meets Golden Sun? Sign me up!

This was a nostalgia trip! Growing up I dreamed of being a Pokemon master. This book just took me back to being a kid playing and watching Pokemon, Monster Rancher, Digimon, Robopon, etc. The Djinn made me think of the Golden Sun series also a favorite of mine. Combination of Pokemon and Golden Sun? You've got my attention. This is a fun story that I'd recommend to anyone who grew up with a love of the previously mentioned games and shows. The audiobook was well done. I enjoyed the narrator quite a bit. Do you have to be a fan of those games and shows I mentioned before to like this? No its a well done story and is just plain fun, but it certainly helps if you were. I'm going to show this book to my niece and certainly going to check out the other books in the series. I was given a code for the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

From an old gamer

I've played games my whole (long) life. This wasn't heavy on stats or anything, but it captured that feel of everything from Pokemon to Final Fantasy VII.

Very fun. Very good. Well-written and performed.

It Won this Round

First let me say you can never go wrong in choosing Mr Wyman as narrator. He always brings a story to life.
This audio is pretty much for young adults. But I found it to be interesting and enjoyed it to the end.
It really captured the struggles of the age group and gaming aspects to a T.
This audio was given to me free and I voluntarily gave this review.

Insanely fun!

Started this at midnight after pre-ordering, wound up staying up all morning to finish. This is insanely fun, and scratched a pokemon itch I didn't even realize I was missing. A solid, unique, litrpg book. Can't wait for more.

Fun book

Not a huge Pokémon fan but I enjoyed this a lot. Jackson can be a little dense but you end up rooting for him and Asina.

Gotta read 'em all

Excellent beginning to a more realistic pokemon/digimon universe. The main character isn't just sent out on his own but instead needs to deal with money and relationships and find his way into the professional leagues along with the unofficial, underworld of the sport.

The narrator Oliver Wyman turns in another amazing read where he brings the characters to life.

this was a great book for people who love pocket monster style anime or games even cards.

the narrator did a great job the story was very good but it was one that grows with you kind of a rough start but finished very strong in my opinion.

monster battles

If pokemon was written for adults this Litrpg would doubtlessly be the outcome. Engaging characters, real life problems thrown in with the idea of training animals for combat. I've read all the books but enjoyed the narration even more. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Amazing book

This book is amazing. I love the theme and the use of words. Make another one please I loved the book.
Jackson Hunt an average kid with Djinn, a monster, which he could control, which he used to fight in tournaments, which was a bit close at times. They bet the farm, and.... Listen to find out :)

Enjoyable Gamelit

Your basic LitRPG basics to advanced story for taming but the characters are well written and i enjoyed the battling similar to that of Harmon Coopers Monster Hunt idea in a more popular famous games/sport.
So i will definitely be getting further adventures as the audio and story works well.
The narration was done well, although the narrator is new to me and i would also listen to further works.
I requested this audio and have decided to leave my thoughts.
