Publisher's summary

Waiting for the right guy. Ella Couture didn't mean to save herself. But success runs in the family, and Ella, a fiery and self-made interior decorator, never wanted to settle for anything less than a quality man. But another disappointing breakup has Ella flirting with the idea of a meaningless fling - because this whole v-card business has gone on for way too long.

When Ella visits her brother, Lance, for the weekend, she finds herself all alone with his teammate Radar. The rugged hockey star is tall, chiseled, and gorgeous - and based on his past, he won't get attached. It's a nice fantasy...but Ella isn't the type of girl to sleep with her brother's best friend. That's what she keeps telling herself, anyway....

Live by the code, die by the code. On the ice, tough guy "Radar" enforces the code of the game with his fists. He won't let anyone mess with the team's superstar center, Lance Couture.

Radar might sleep around, but he knows to keep his distance when Lance's sister visits the two roommates at their Boston condo. The code has a rule about family members, after all: They're strictly off-limits. Not that Radar's worried about breaking that rule - he's already heard an earful about how insane his best bud's younger sis is.

But Lance never said anything about Ella being a cute babe with an adorable laugh. And he definitely never said anything about how she's finally ready to lose her v-card....

But if Radar can't keep his hands off Ella, not only will he stab his best friend in the back - he'll ruin everything for which he's worked. So why can't he get that girl out of his mind?

Contains mature themes.

Sweet

This was sweet. A bit cringy at times but lighthearted and sweet. I wish the voice for Ryan would’ve been a bit more masculine but it was still enjoyable to listen to.

Forbidden Puck

I enjoyed an insta-love romance but this one was way too fast, plus Lance’s behavior about his sister was over the top. That being said, this was an adorable and charming story.
Narration was great!

I loved the storyline! Spoiler alert: I laughed when Radar made Ella’s ex pay for treating her like crap. I just died with laughter! This is a must read. lol!

Started off strong…

The book started off strong but then became completely unbelievable. The female narrator’s voice was whiney. I won’t be listening to the rest of the series.

Great to read when it's cold outside

I downloaded this book after buying it a while ago. Normally, once purchased I download books immediately. This one was overlooked until it appeared in my Audible list of books I might be interested in and showed it was in by library. Score. Tons of books I had already downloaded but nothing struck a chord until I saw this one. Not great literature but enjoyable if you like hockey romances. I do despite being raised in the South where football isn't a sport, it's a religion. I guess it's from actually being acquainted with football jocks from junior high through college...familiarity breeds contempt. Therefore I like hockey romances.

slow but hot

Radar & Ella- best friend's sister/sports romance trope. This is a slow burn. Radar is part of the NHL with his best friend, playing in Boston. He's also known as the playboy of the bunch. Ella is an interior designer living in New York and comes to Boston on invitation from her brother Lance under the impression that he wants to hang out with her. He really wants her to decorate the new condo be shares with Radar. While there, the chemistry between get and Radar is out of control and since her brother is never around to hang with her, she spends her time with Radar. Radar tries to keep his distance because there's a code between the team. You don't mess with family. But this is different or is it. I wanted to like the story but it was very shallow at it's core. We didn't really dig deep into the characters, it was all surface level. I didn't like that it took 4 hours for anything to happen in the book and I'm not just talking about the juicy stuff. Considering the connection the characters had, i expected a little bit more. But it was okay.

Little high handed

Ella is a little much with all the blame at the beginning, didn’t take a responsibility for her actions tisk tisk tisk. But I’m still listening 😶
