Funny and helpful!

This audiobook really hits the spot in balancing humor and information. The rules and positions of football are clearly explained, and the narration by Jack Hicks makes it all the more interesting to listen to!

Taught me a lot!

Can't wait for football season so I can watch a game and actually understand what is happening.. This book gave me a greater appreciation for the complexity and skill involved. The narration was very good.

A great introduction to football

I'm a nerd, and don't care much for sports. But Klein's book shows me and other geeks that football isn't just for meatheads. It's intensely physical, yes, but first and foremost it's a tactical game. Will I start watching football regularly? Probably not. But it gives me a little more understanding and compassion for how the other half live. Okay, let's be honest, the other nine tenths.

I will listen at least yearly

I picked up several insights as I breezed through the book the first time. I will need to listen to it several more times to help me better understand the game of football. The information was delivered an interesting manner and the narrator was enjoyable to listen to, thank you!

Just what I was looking for

Loved the simplicity and straight to the point approach. One could be as ignorant-as I was-about football in the morning and gain enough basic insight and understanding to prepare you for the evening game.

I would recommend this book to anyone as lost as I was in friend gatherings and coworkers football conversations.

Informative and Enjoyable.

Been a fan for 50+ years, but learned new things. An enjoyable read. Worth your time. You'll learn new things.

Easy Intro

This book covers the basics nicely. I realized that I a cynically know more hugs. I thought about football. The strengths of this book are that it provides good basic information in an easy to understand format and the author intersperses it with humor. The main weakness in the book for me was that parts were repetitive; I personally would have liked explanations of some of the intricacies of the game, but since this is an intro book, I can see why this isn't included.

Decent intro to football for the near-novice

Overall, I thought highly of the book. I bought it for my teen and tween sons who've recently gotten interested in watching football with me. They have very little overall knowledge of the game and I think they got a lot out of it, though they said they did have trouble paying attention at times (and they are die hard audiobook listeners). I got it on the Daily Deal and at that price it is hard to go wrong.

I did have two negatives about it. For me, a long time (but not serious) fan, it didn't do much to help me with all the questions I have when watching the game, so I'm not sure someone like me is the target audience. More importantly, I don't think this is the best medium to learn how to follow a football game. Watching a game with commentary -- or watching the pregame show for the Superbowl right now -- does more to explain what is going on, since it comes with visuals.

In sum, I think this book works best for a near novice, who wants to listen something to understand the basics when not watching a game. For a person who doesn't want to interrupt the fans in their life with dumb questions, this might be perfect.

OK book

Presentation is good but for non USA citizens hard to understand. I get the book since I want to understand the game better but it does not deliver completely. Sometimes too much detail, sometimes too little.
