Publisher's Summary

Phoebe West has been head-over-heels in love with her brother's best friend for as long as she can remember. Not that he's bothered to notice. Despite several mortifying attempts at seduction and a decade's worth of unrequited pining, nothing Phoebe does seems to make any impact on the man she's obsessed over since her bra-stuffing days. She knows that it's time to let him go, though just the thought is nearly enough to shatter her.

Nathaniel "Nate" Knox has only ever seen Phoebe as one thing: forbidden. There's a darkness in Nate, the kind you can't avoid after years working in Special Forces and private security. He's no good for anyone, especially not someone as sweet as his best friend's little sister. He knows that he can't have her, even if she makes him feel things he barely recognizes.

Contains mature themes.

Not my favorite...

Ok, here's the thing... I felt that the performance made Phoebe sound like a 16 year old rather than a 24 year old. Some of the written language didn't help either. Words like "holy frack" and the pet name of "little bird" and other references REALLY made Phoebe sound like a whack job. Reading a sample of the book, I had a different tone in my head, so this performance didn't live up to it for me. She could have sounded more sultry and playful over whiny and pathetic. Frankly, I'm not sure how any man could tolerate that tone and voice. It just could have been better. 😥

1 million words per second!!! Too much to stand...

The unrequited love... Years loving her brothers best friend...
She is a little bit too much verbose for my liking. I got tired.
It takes too long to get to speed but from the middle on, some action kicks in and it gets better...

COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT!!!!!

The story could have been better if I didn't have to wait for nine hours for him to get the girl. Not on I will listen to again. Try it if the love making is not important.

Eventually..Crossing the Line

Cute, sexy story of two people who grew up together, your typical "can't go there with my best friends sister..romance"but eventually you say,eh...to hell with it,I'm going there. The narrator was awesome, thought she did a great job with each character, with humor,etc...the one and only problem I had with this story,is it's a big O'l tease,you..litterally have to get to the end of the book before you get to listen to that moment we've all been waiting for only for that moment to be a poof instead of a bang.

Had to stop after second chapter

Loved the first book but this narrator's voice absolutely has made have to buy the paperback version. Sorry but can't do it.

Don't.

This wasn't good. Could barely finish it. Didn't like the main character. The plot was lame and predictable.

just yuck

Would you ever listen to anything by Julie Johnson again?

No

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Annoyance, frustration, disappointment

Any additional comments?

I couldn't even get through this book. Between the whining main character or narration, and the naïve hopelessly juvenile romance it was just nauseatingly boring overall.

Fun and Sexy with just enough action and suspense

Cross the Line is a great blend of RomCom and action. Fun and sexy with enough suspense to keep it entertaining. Nate is off limits as Phoebe' brother's best friend. When Phoebe lands in a mess of trouble and danger, Nate is there to protect and keep her safe.

"I spent a long time trying to convince myself you were better off without me. That keeping away from you was the best way to keep you safe. But I can’t do it anymore. I won’t. See, you and I mated for life about a million years ago, little bird. Without you, there’s no music. No love. No life."

Awesome narration by Tatiana Sokolov just enhanced an already amazing book!!

Loved it

I really enjoyed this book, so much I had to listen to the whole thing from start to finish with a narrator who was really easy to listen to. I will now have to get the next book Asap.
