They came to earth - Pestilence, War, Famine, Death - four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

Ana da Silva always assumed she’d die young - she just never expected it to be at the hands of Famine, the haunting immortal who once spared her life so many years ago. But if the horseman remembers her at all, he must not care, for when she comes face to face with him for the second time in her life, she’s stabbed and left for dead.

Only, she doesn’t quite die.

If there’s one thing Famine is good at, it’s cruelty. And how these blighted bastards deserve it. Try as he might, he can’t forget what they once did to him. But when Ana, a ghost from his past, corners him and promises pain for what he so recently did to her, she and her empty threats captivate him, and he decides to keep her around.

In spite of themselves, Ana and Famine are drawn to each other. But at the end of the day, the two are enemies. Nothing changes that. Not one kind act, not two. And definitely not a few steamy nights. But enemies or reluctant lovers, if they don’t stop themselves soon, heaven will.

First:I really don’t know how to begin... this book shook my structures ... won me over in a way that hasn't happened in a while.
If I were to make a list of the best books I have ever read, this would certainly be among the chosen ones .... This is the kind of story that makes a booklover close the eyes and visualize each narrated moment. Do you know when you are reading a book and your mind is creating the images as if you were watching a movie? This is exactly what I felt with this book..
The author created for this book, two characters who have gone through various difficulties, and have shaped their personalities in order to protect themselves from the world. Famine becomes cruel, while Ana uses sarcasm. This combination becomes exciting as the story unfolds. Neither of them tries to change the other's way of being, but at the same time they try to provoke each other, creating sparks.
I was a little uncomfortable with the constant sexual references made by the character Ana. I thought it was a bit exaggerated. But I was delighted with the description made by the author with regard to the path that the characters take until they reach Taubaté. I know some of the cities mentioned, and it was impossible to imagine cities as desolate thieves. In fact, it is hard to imagine that all the advances in modernity are unknown to Ana. She only heard of her cell phone, car, plane, washing machine and dishwasher .... It’s hard imagine! And what about the narration? This spectacular! The tone of voice to demonstrate the emotions of each character, the way Famine uses the command to call Ana, and the innocent way in which she makes sexual references .... The narrator captured the essence of the characters and brought her afloat. And Famine's moments of contemplation, in which he is not responding .... it is impossible to describe the perfection of the scenes ....
I highly recommend this book, even if you haven't read the previous ones.
I can't wait to know the role Death will play in the whole outcome .... The ending is electrifying, and desperate.

i love it!!!

"Because around you,” he says, “I feel the oddest urge to use my power to create rather than destroy."

Ana hadn't had a great start to life the first time she stumbled upon the horseman, but she was still determined to show him kindness. The second time she had definitely went through a lot and was excited for their reunion only for him to not remember her. They say nothing is worse than a woman's scorn which in this case I would not have wanted to be against an angry Ana. Watching how she went from hating and trying to kill famine to loving him was a crazy journey. Watching famine take on more "human" qualities was so fun. They way he cared for Ana was so strong, he would do anything for her. It was such a great book, I can't wait to start the last book!

loved it!!

I LOVE Famine!!! They’re all great. But this guy’s attitude is amazing. The narration is really good. I like that there is a male doing Famine’s parts. I love how mouthy Ana is. I loved how she saved him. I’m not particularly fond of her ‘job’ but it’s still a great story.

Awesome!

These books made me think about the folklore of the ancient gods. It is so filled with action and kept my attention throughout. This was a pretty good series that I thoughly enjoyed. Narrators did a great job with charactors.

A lot of people know Barginner series but not a lot of people know this series. Definitely a page turner. FMC does A LOT of dumb things but likeable. The author wasn't afraid to push the boundaries. I really like how in each book the Apocalypse gets worse and worse. on to the next book. Totally worth the credit

A HIDDEN GEM!

Another knock-it-out-of-the-park, new favorite by both the author and narrator. Thank you for a bright spot amidst this dastardly year! The book started with a bang, kept the action up throughout, and ended with a bang. Absolutely can’t wait for the next book!
