Publisher's Summary

When I opened my eyes, I was in a cell, my body covered in bruises.

Not a jail.

I'd been kidnapped and imprisoned.

I wasn't alone. I shared the cell with Garin Woods, the man I'd loved since I was a kid.

The man I couldn't be with because of the secret. A man who would kill me if he found out what that secret was.

Someone wanted to torture me.

Torture us.

One of us deserved it.

It wasn't Garin.

3.5 stars - Good Dark Story with a Great Narrator!

3.5 stars

I'm on the fence with this one. There were things I really liked and some that I didn't like as much. I do enjoy a dark romance book, I do even enjoy a kidnapping, I do enjoy a Anti-Hero! This book had all of those things. I spent most of the book convinced I knew what was happening and in the end I was right but the author did have me questioning it a lot through out the book. I had a little bit of a hard time with how Kyle reacted to the imprisonment, I needed her to be a little more freaked out by it and I needed her to be at least a little scared but instead she acted like she was just curious. The biggest oddity for me was how no matter what they did to her, she was all about having sex when it was over, I guess I couldn't really see that as realistic. I liked the twists and turns the author added to this story even though they were obvious instead of surprising.

Garin was a contradiction for sure. He was mad at her for lying but he was lying. He wanted her to come clean when he had no plans to come clean. He said he loved her and would protect her but who exactly was he protecting her from... the way I see it, she needed protection from him. In the end I gave this book 3.5 stars, it was better than average and had me intrigued from the beginning but it left me feeling a little flat in the end.

The narration was AMAZING! Aaron Shedlock is a great narrator and he was a great choice for this story.Since this is a Dual POV I probably would have liked dual narration a little better but it didn't take away from the story at all.

3.5 Dark and Twisty Stars

It is about to get real, I tell you what I had NO earthly idea what I was getting into with this book and wow is it all kinds of dark and twisty.

I had an idea about this story and how everything was going to go down but it just never grasped hold but I was right in the end.

I like dark and twisty so for a good part of the book I was hooked then a few things happened and even my dark and twisty took a step back. But what kept me going was the narration.

Aaron just had a tone that soothes you and makes you take notice of what is going on. I very much liked his female tone that he uses, because then it makes his male character even that more lush to listen to.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Horrible!!

Where do I began?? Why is she having sex, willingly, every other day while locked in a cell and being tortured. She was unbelievably weak and stupid. Who thinks about sex in that situation. She was also naive. She didn't think Garin would be hurt if she didn't give up the killer's identity. Then she told everything after seeing him hurt. The writing was not good and the story was infuriating.

Abuse Lover manifest

I like books that tell a different story. Books that address different paths to love. I even like dark and twisted but this book missed the mark for me. It true that in most books the heroine has to be somewhat naive to make the story interesting. However, in this book I found the heroine downright stupid. Her reasoning never made sense to me. Some of the circumstances that she choose to have sex under are concerning and I found myself thinking about how gross and unsexy the scene must be. There is no Hero in this book Gerin is a liar and an abuser. The couple's story lacks love and is only about a Big D and rough sex. I guess sometimes that's all you need. The narration was good but since most of the story was from the female POV I feel it would have came across better with duet or female narrator.

The “WHY” was never answered!

This is definitely a dark story. There is murder, drug abuse, torture and child abuse and neglect. Unfortunately, I’m not completely sure that I understand the author’s message. I think it is that, “the truth will set you free.” This is what I think is the weakness of this novel. By the time the book is finished, I should know what message the author is trying to convey, right? In addition, there is an elaborate hoax that is pulled off, at the expense of the Heroine, and we never find out why it’s done or how it’s done. Too many unanswered questions, for my taste. Even with it’s flaws, the book is still intriguing and darkly sexy.

Wow Mann!!

Woah! Holly Tahiti man, what an amazing book!!! Prisoned by Marni Mann was the best Mann book ever! I’ve never listened to an audiobook that was so incredibly dark! I found myself just stopping and staring into space shocked with the the way this book twisted and turned. I was unable to guess what was coming behind the next turn. We have some major darkness in this book! But it wasn’t dark just for the sake of being dark. It had a point behind it all... a method to its madness, if you will.

Mann rocked this book. She gave us an incredibly emotionally, psychological book that at times disturbed me while also turning me on! That has to be a talent, right? Then we have the narrator, Aaron Shedlock... I was really impressed with how well he portrayed Garin. Shedlock really did a fantastic job working a dual POV when he was the only narrator.

Loved this Raw, Gritty, and Erotic Ride!!

Wow, this is so uniquely raw, gritty, dirty and emotional! This tale was so expertly crafted, moving sinuously between characters and flashback sequences that I was completely captivated from start to finish. Kyle, Garin, and Billy were best friends, relying on each other as they grew up with nothing. Kyle and Garin had a special connection and love which is why it hurt so much when she unexpectedly separated herself from him and moved away after graduation. Over the years they all had their own paths out of the neighborhood. When Billy's was death, Kyle comes home for his funeral. She faces Garin for the first time in 12 years and all her feelings of love come crashing back. But the secrets she holds are so overwhelming, she just might collapse by the weight of them. Garin has secrets of his own, but will Kyle pay the ultimate price for all of them? This story will have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is truth and what isn't. Kyle and Garin have lead a life of struggle, and have made the hard choices between love, life, and loyalty. This story captures the price they will pay for those choices. It will take you on an exhilarating journey filled with heart-pounding twists and turns.

Narrator Aaron Shedlock was amazing. He set each scene so perfectly, drawing me in and holding me captive. His voice changes between characters and whispered thoughts perfectly conveyed their struggles, fear, love and passion.

This is dark, erotic and raw, and is not for the faint of heart and I loved every minute!
