Publisher's Summary

When I opened my eyes, I was in a cell, my body covered in bruises.

Not a jail.

I'd been kidnapped and imprisoned.

I wasn't alone. I shared the cell with Garin Woods, the man I'd loved since I was a kid.

The man I couldn't be with because of the secret. A man who would kill me if he found out what that secret was.

Someone wanted to torture me.

Torture us.

One of us deserved it.

It wasn't Garin.

3.5 stars - Good Dark Story with a Great Narrator!

3.5 stars

I'm on the fence with this one. There were things I really liked and some that I didn't like as much. I do enjoy a dark romance book, I do even enjoy a kidnapping, I do enjoy a Anti-Hero! This book had all of those things. I spent most of the book convinced I knew what was happening and in the end I was right but the author did have me questioning it a lot through out the book. I had a little bit of a hard time with how Kyle reacted to the imprisonment, I needed her to be a little more freaked out by it and I needed her to be at least a little scared but instead she acted like she was just curious. The biggest oddity for me was how no matter what they did to her, she was all about having sex when it was over, I guess I couldn't really see that as realistic. I liked the twists and turns the author added to this story even though they were obvious instead of surprising.

Garin was a contradiction for sure. He was mad at her for lying but he was lying. He wanted her to come clean when he had no plans to come clean. He said he loved her and would protect her but who exactly was he protecting her from... the way I see it, she needed protection from him. In the end I gave this book 3.5 stars, it was better than average and had me intrigued from the beginning but it left me feeling a little flat in the end.

The narration was AMAZING! Aaron Shedlock is a great narrator and he was a great choice for this story.Since this is a Dual POV I probably would have liked dual narration a little better but it didn't take away from the story at all.

Wow Mann!!

Woah! Holly Tahiti man, what an amazing book!!! Prisoned by Marni Mann was the best Mann book ever! I’ve never listened to an audiobook that was so incredibly dark! I found myself just stopping and staring into space shocked with the the way this book twisted and turned. I was unable to guess what was coming behind the next turn. We have some major darkness in this book! But it wasn’t dark just for the sake of being dark. It had a point behind it all... a method to its madness, if you will.

Mann rocked this book. She gave us an incredibly emotionally, psychological book that at times disturbed me while also turning me on! That has to be a talent, right? Then we have the narrator, Aaron Shedlock... I was really impressed with how well he portrayed Garin. Shedlock really did a fantastic job working a dual POV when he was the only narrator.

Horrible!!

Where do I began?? Why is she having sex, willingly, every other day while locked in a cell and being tortured. She was unbelievably weak and stupid. Who thinks about sex in that situation. She was also naive. She didn't think Garin would be hurt if she didn't give up the killer's identity. Then she told everything after seeing him hurt. The writing was not good and the story was infuriating.

Loved this Raw, Gritty, and Erotic Ride!!

Wow, this is so uniquely raw, gritty, dirty and emotional! This tale was so expertly crafted, moving sinuously between characters and flashback sequences that I was completely captivated from start to finish. Kyle, Garin, and Billy were best friends, relying on each other as they grew up with nothing. Kyle and Garin had a special connection and love which is why it hurt so much when she unexpectedly separated herself from him and moved away after graduation. Over the years they all had their own paths out of the neighborhood. When Billy's was death, Kyle comes home for his funeral. She faces Garin for the first time in 12 years and all her feelings of love come crashing back. But the secrets she holds are so overwhelming, she just might collapse by the weight of them. Garin has secrets of his own, but will Kyle pay the ultimate price for all of them? This story will have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is truth and what isn't. Kyle and Garin have lead a life of struggle, and have made the hard choices between love, life, and loyalty. This story captures the price they will pay for those choices. It will take you on an exhilarating journey filled with heart-pounding twists and turns.

Narrator Aaron Shedlock was amazing. He set each scene so perfectly, drawing me in and holding me captive. His voice changes between characters and whispered thoughts perfectly conveyed their struggles, fear, love and passion.

This is dark, erotic and raw, and is not for the faint of heart and I loved every minute!

Not my favorite...

This one was a bit of a disappointment for me. I chose it because I’d previously listened to a book by this author/narrator team and was blown away. This one, not so much. Although I enjoy a good dark romance, this was just too much and a bit of a stretch at times. I figured out what was going on pretty early on and it just pissed me off....a little too dark and hard to believe, I guess. I had a difficult time making it to the end. As always, Aaron Shedlock’s performance was nothing short of amazing; however, being that the book is written in dual points of view, I would’ve liked the narration better if Tracy Marks had read the female lead, just my opinion. That said, Shedlock is quite capable of narrating both points of view, obviously!, and the narration is the only thing that kept me listening until the end.

Oh the twists!

I went into this book basically blind and wasn't sure until midway through. Then the mastermind behind this story just completely sucked my in. The end, well I wanted a bit more, but such a riveting listen. Aaron did a fantastic job, I would like just a bit more of a difference between male and female, but holy smokes is his narration good!

Dark and Oh So Good!

I really didn't know what to expect when starting this audiobook. I had heard it was dark and I wanted to give it a try. Wow!!! It was so good. Had cringeworthy moments and also some intense sexual moments. The relationship that Kyle and Garin was very charges. I love how, with all the darkness, there was still a HEA. Aaron Shedlock was amazing at the narration of this audiobook. The way he was able to make you feel everything they were going through perfectly by changing the tones of his voice was great. Hope to hear him more in other audiobooks! Can't wait to start some of Marni Mann's other books!

Psychologically thrilling!

Dark romantic suspense is so satisfying. Marni Mann has delivered the ultimate in dark reads with this psychological thriller. Kyle and Garin grew up together in the Heart in NJ. The two are best friends, with a path to love, but situations change p with the death of their friend, Pauley and Kyle is off to Florida to college with no explanation. Now 12 years later, tragedy strikes their old neighborhood again, bringing Kyle and Garin face to face. The secret Kyle has carried for so long now will come into play. Mann has us crawl into the mind of Kyle, and we become so wrapped up in her memories and secrets that it's hard to stop listening to this book. With torture, blood, rough sex, love, tenderness and hope, it's hard to know what to feel when. The twists and turns of this book have you feeling every pain, every touch, and every breath. It is scary, thought provoking, gory, and sensual.

Choosing a narrator to give the book the necessary tone was key. The choice of Aaron Shedlock could not have been more perfect. The vault to his many voices is never ending, and he is able to capture the essence of each character. His ability to differentiate the roles and give them each their own distinctive voice and personality will give you chills down your spine and warmth to your heart.
