Publisher's Summary

Warning: May contain Egyptian gods, werewolves, power armor, and a world-ending apocalypse

A pyramid predating all known cultures appears without warning. Its discovery throws into question everything we know about the origins of mankind.

Inside lies incredible technology, proof of a culture far more advanced than our own. Something dark lurks within, eager to resume a war as old as mankind. When it is unleashed, it heralds the end of our species' reign.

A plague of werewolves spreads across the world. A sunspot larger than anything in recorded history begins to grow. Yet both pale in comparison to the true threat, the evil the werewolves were created to fight.

"It's like Indiana Jones went through the Stargate and ended up in Aliens versus Predator." - One of the author's totally biased friends

This collection gathers No Such Thing As Werewolves, No Mere Zombie, Vampires Don't Sparkle, and The First Ark.

A little different

I bought this because it was a good price for 3 books. Started out a little slow and almost gave up. Glad I stuck with it because once it got going it got great.
The author did a great job with the plot and people. The reader... what to say? I could tell what character he was doing with no problem. Never heard a book read by him, so now I have to see what else he read.
Give this book a shot, I am only about half way through the second book and am enjoying it so very much

A great unexpected series and unique premise.

Where does Deathless Collection: Books 1-3 and the Prequel Novella rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

In the top quarter. I really didn't expect this book to be such a great listen.

What other book might you compare Deathless Collection: Books 1-3 and the Prequel Novella to and why?

If you like series like Adrians Undead Diaries or any of Mark Tufo's books you'll love this.
As a fan of undead fiction then I suggest you give this a chance. Its such an unusual combinations of elements that work perfectly together.

Which scene was your favorite?

When it became clear that Werewolves, a high profile and socially relevant disease and solar flares all had a place in the unfolding zombie apocalypse.

Any additional comments?

I set out listening to this series with a nagging expectation that I was going to return it. I was pleasantly surprised to find a great tale and great performance.Obviously, if you aren't into this style of fiction you wont like it but if you are, I'd suggest giving this one a try and I think you'll be surprised.

You want fun? You got fun! Because...werewolves!

Would you listen to Deathless Collection: Books 1-3 and the Prequel Novella again? Why?

I love the theme of werewolves and zombies. Also, I'm an avid player of a specific RPG chain about werewolves and this feels like a game I've played in for that.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I don't feel I can pick any one character, because it's the composite whole of the series I love. It's a little campy, a lot rompy, full of Indiana Jones hijinks meets Resident Evil. So my favorite character isn't an actual character within the book, but the character of the series- it's just amazingly fun!

Have you listened to any of Ryan Kennard Burke’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I'm going to look this fellow up for more work!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I were the type to listen to it in one sitting, I would; but by and large I use audio books to reward myself for doing things that need to get doing- I listen to it to clean, to work out, all sorts of drudgery necessities. This series did accomplish that.

Any additional comments?

I'm not going to say this is the most spot-on, well-composed piece of work ever. It's not. But quite frankly, I don't want something that is so entrenched in layers of meaning and profound depth- and if I do, I'll go log into one of a number of online college courses on literature that are available. What I love, love, LOVE is anything involving shapeshifters. I love Indiana-Jones-style hijinks. I love fighting to save the world. I love RPGs, which this book series feels so very much akin to a chain of RPG books that I play dedicated to that monster type, that it just.. hits so many happy points in my world. I read/listen to audio books to be entertained, to be caught up in a story...and this does it and with a smile on my face. Also, the author is so invested in his readership! I am so impressed. Put it this way- I already had book one and two purchased in my audio library, and I just went ahead and put in the credit to get the full series AGAIN, and I posted about it to my friends on social media (one of which I'm pretty sure has already purchased it). I cannot emphasize it enough- if you want to have fun, a really good enjoyable fun read, get this series. It's like a Snickers bar- it may not be chock full of nutritious value to make you think upon for hours and hours, but it will absolutely make you happy and leave you satisfied and wanting more. A wicked fun story!

This is an epic book series that really draws you into to an amazing world of werewolves, zombies, and vampires and the myths behind their creation/existence. But make no mistake this is not you typical mythos about them. This is a well thought out well planned story that grabs you by the throat and keeps you asking for more. If you like books like Monster Hunter then this series is right up your alley. I guarantee it!

Better than Expected

This was a chance taker. I wasn't familiar with the writer on his works. But it was surprisingly good. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I loved this new take on mythological characters. The writing is descriptive and moves along at a great pace. Character wise, there are many but all of them have a central role to play. Some of the plot and twist get you looking forward to the next. While others are see-through glass. All in all I would tell anyone who is looking for something different this is the book for them.

Recommend it!

It's hard to recommend this book without giving away all of the surprise plot twists, so I'm going to just say that if you did a mashup of Indiana Jones, Underworld, and Night of the Living Dead, you might come close to capturing the awesomeness that is the Deathless series. It's such a divergence from mainstream, yet hits all of the right buttons. When I was finished listening to the longest audiobook I've ever read, my first thought was, wait, it's over? 40 plus hours of awesome!

Decent

The story itself was compelling. i love the way he took real history and weaved a potential new history around it. Very fun. The reader though nearly put me off of the book. There were several mispronunciations and just odd emphases. He needs more practice with that. He did a decent job creating voices for the different characters though.

I hope that this review serves as a map to that very treasure. if you want a story with everything a reader could ever want in an action adventure novel, we'll then, this is your X, and it marks the spot. VERY well done Mr. Fox, very well indeed. The performance of the reading was spot on as well.

Cliches and hackneyed prose

The plot once it gets going is entertaining, although somewhat linear. The author however seems unable to come up with a single line of original descriptive prose. You can look forward to “hails of bullets” and other similar phrases. The performer does their best, but you can almost hear their soul slowly dissolving as the book progresses.

Wow

Surprisingly good twist on the Werewolves's, Vampire's and Zombie origin type books we all no and love. Great set of books, i found it hard to stop listening! Chris Fox has just found a new fan!! Only one thing I would like to moan about...... I personally think a prequel book should be at the start of the series but for some reason its been added to the end. There was a lot of small clues in the three books of how the main character became but waiting until the conclusion of the story to hear this i think was wrong. But all in all 10 out of 10.

Nobody can suspend that much disbelief !Spoilers!

I have not finished all three books. I am at the begining of book two but my ability to suspend disbelief has run its course.
There are so many inconsistencies, outright moronic actions and ideas from the character and a story that does not make any sense no matter how hard I search for it. Everything that happens is utterly predictable.
A short review:
Our hero (Indiana Jones without flair) gets called by his ex, who cheated on him with his best friend, to Investigate a pyramid. Said ex and ex best friend are of course still together and both there. So is another one he had a thing with. This alone almost made me put the book down. More cliche is hard to find even in a free to download romance. At least when he arrives his ex friend has gone all Renfield (I hope you guys read Dracula if not do it!!!) So you know our dude has them all to himself again. But threat not he also gets another love interest and later on with his ex best friend being gone, his ex can make passes on him again. Now he is in a huge dilema he has a very nice woman that he met and who is clearly into him and his ex who is total b**ch. I fully understand the dilemma! Did I mention there is not one normal or even ugly person in the book?
The rest of the story is what happens when you mash werewolves, the zombie apocalypse and vampires all in one. And then you execute the mashing poorly..

Great start but lost interest halfway through

This series contained so much that I like; werewolves, zombies, gods etc, and I really loved the first book. But it might have been a mistake to buy the discounted whole series (some 40+ hours) as I seem to have lost interest and track of what was happening somewhere in the middle of the second book. At the start of the third book, during the recap, I found myself wondering "what, when did THAT happen" more than once. I really tried to concentrate listening to the third book, but it was difficult to keep up with all the gods, who was plotting against whom, and so on. So in short: great value for money, but that might not always be a good thing....

Worth a listen if you are a fantasy or sci fi fan.

Slow to get started but builds momentum and is thoroughly enjoyable by the end. You can't take this book too seriously. Remember it is a story and not factual so any lore or characters taken out of history may not be correct but the way they are portrayed in this book really works.

You start listening and think you have made a mistake but the story gets deeper and more involved over time and has you questioning whether the main characters are right or wrong.

The main problem I had with this book is the crigeworthy recaps between the novels. You will understand when you listen. There are a few cheesy lines as well but look past them, this is worth listening to if you are a sci fi and fantasy fan. a

Good romp of a tale

If you could sum up Deathless Collection: Books 1-3 and the Prequel Novella in three words, what would they be?

Gives a new look at the werewolf legend however by the end of book 3 I was wishing that you could kill a deathless and a werewolf's a lot more permanently. Don't know f I would get any more in this series as it got a bit samey by the end of the last book
