Publisher's Summary

How does a one-hit-point goblin become the Dark Lord?

By accident. Bert is a tiny goblin with big dreams. He follows adventurers, and loots the copper they leave behind when they take the real loot. One day, Bert hopes, he'll have enough copper to buy a warg, and finally promote from a one-HP critter to a Warg Rider.

Kit is a typical gamer hoping to enjoy a good story, but her friends are more interested in rules, loot and experience. Kit’s friends Crotchshot, Brakestuff, and the White Necromancer rampage their way across the land desperately seeking the Dark Lord trope, which gives the wielder the power to reshape the world.

When Bert accidentally steals the trope, Kit is forced to make a choice. Should she help her friends, or help a new Dark Lord rise to power?

The world will never be the same. Get ready for The Dark Lord Bert.

I wish I could give this 6 stars!

This was hilarious...couldn’t stop listening to this! It’s like scary movie’s makers, Mel brooks, and Douglas adams all got together and said let’s make a fantasy novel. From the bard Kanye East, the zany loot that appears throughout the story, the baron Collin and his mount Jacob, and the list goes in and on...I MUST applaud the evil dark lord the “nuppet count” made my day. I talked to everybody at work about it. The narrator is without a doubt more of a voice actor than a narrator. He lent to the story exactly what was needed. I can’t imagine reading this book in print having listened to it with such a fabulous narrator. Get it listen to it and spread the word!!! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

great narrator and hilarious story

I liked Better a lot. it took a little bit to get used to him but he does get better as the story progresses. The voices the narrator used for each character was amazing and made me laugh hard. It was worth the money

Fun and Funny with a Great Narator

Light and fun take on GameLit/Fantasy that plays strongly into the small overcoming the mighty and the good not always being the light.

An Epic and Amazing Story

Wow, I've gotta say, I really loved this book! As a lifelong gamer this story was incredibly appealing and touched on a ton of different tropes. The fourth wall breaking was well done, and added a lot of hilarity to the story. Bert is a lovable protagonist who the listener will definitely root for, the story is engaging, and definitely worth a listen!

Very little profanity. A fun story.

DnD tale with a twist from a little NPC, whom you wind up cheering for, as the story unfolds.

Simple and fun

A short enjoyable story that differs from the regular monotonous hack and slash. Very refreshing yet still simple.

Oh that Bert.

Here's what gets you, Bert is the most lovable character I've ever read. I love that guy. I also love Chris Fox writing style, it's so casual, it really pulls me in.

short d&d campaign

This book was awesome totally worth the credit, full of constant laughing moments and battles were well fought, story made since and concluded leaving opening for more.

This narrator just wow was more of a voice actor for so many characters.

I look forward to more work from both of author and narrator.
