Amazing collection, get both box sets

Eve of Redemption is an amazing series. It is very well written with an amazing blend of humor, character development, and violence. The teasing and inappropriate jokes are laugh out loud funny as Kari grows her family and team are spot on. The listener quickly grows to care about every character and I found myself crying multiple times (definitely hits as hard as Dobby dying), and the violence: so satisfyingly descriptive without becoming graphic or gross. My 15 year old refuses to listen to it with me (too slow he says), but asks me to replay the battle scenes whenever he hears them. The narration is also very well done. I struggle with most female narrators attempts at male voices, especially gruff and confident ones, but Chelsea does a good job of it without getting artificially gravelly or growling.

This series also hit very close to home with me, which is part of why I love it so much. I found this series shortly after my wife of 20 years asked for a divorce and, well, we know where that can take someone. Apparently I needed this series to get through that time in my life. Coming from a big Irish family (I have close to 50 first cousins), being an athlete through college, and working in education, I completely understood the the familial and team building dynamics (and doubts) Kari goes through. I too, have lived a very rough and tumble life (mostly by choice), have had people try to kill me while playing the “drugs, gangs, guns” game as an educator, and have saved and changed lives. I’ve also had to make too many CPS calls in my career and know the damage an abusive upbringing does to someone. While I’m not a dual-sword wielding terra-dracon (I prefer axes to swords), and I am not religious, I know exactly what Kari goes through being willing to sacrifice herself in the name Servant Leadership (or God’s Will as me Ma would say it) and Joe Jackson hits those emotions and inner turmoils perfectly.

My only complaint is that as soon as I finished book 11, the box set of the second half of the collection came out. I wish I could get the credits back that I spent on books 7-11 in exchange for the second box set, but that’s an Amazon thing, not Joe Jackson’s. Maybe Joe gets more royalties that way… if that’s the case, then I rescind my complaint. Either way, the Eve of Redemption series is money or credits very well spent.

As far as what others say about it doesn't listen to them it was a Excellent books if I say so my self If you get a chance to get it you should there is no heavy sex in this so I am not sure what people are saying that in their opinion! a great way to go deep in to some wild fights and a great book.

Loved it.

I loved hearing a tale from a non human kick butt females point of view. Gods interacting with mortals, good vs. evil, unexpected alliances, and a theme of acceptance for everyone made this series a favorite for me.

Consistent characters in all 6 books. Twists and turns keeps the story interesting as it progresses

Why always constant lust consuming eveypne at all times?

I don’t understand. The characters are constantly consumed by lust. People are falling in love after having a single conversation, thinking about a life and kids together after a one time sex encounter.

It is mind numbing. What sort of desperate people are these? If it was only at times where it fits it wouldn’t be as bad, but it’s like “oh just killed a bunch of enemies now let’s bang or now let’s dwell on our relationships”

Give me some backstory, give me training, give me explanation of magic and abilities, description of people as more than stereotypes. I get it everyone constantly gets naked and pounds each other weeee wooo so fun let’s get something substantive.
