Hilarious and Hot

This audio was laugh out loud funny. The story of a young, very smart, attractive woman forced into a situation with an Alpha mobster due to her own actions. The internal ramblings of her mind quite often had me laughing out loud. I did find that if I was interrupted at all I would have to go back in the Audio because I wasn’t sure if she was speaking to herself or if she was in a two sided conversation. Asher Black was dark and brooding but he also was protective, intuitive, and sexy as sin. The narrator has a very distinct cadence to her voice which was distracting for me and did little to help the story. If you’re looking for a quick witted listen, this audio is for you.

I need more!

This book was awesome! It had me hooked from the beginning. I could not put it down. The story was so well written. I fell in love with the characters and became so invested. The chemistry between Lucy and Asher was crazy. I was yelling at them in my head so often. Lucy is perfect for Asher- they just need to get their S together. I can not wait for the next installment!

Narration and production is flawless. I have had the pleasure of listening to several of Lacy's narrations and have loved them all. She always gives a great performance!

Highly recommend!

A Hilarious and Unconventional Romance!

Asher Black is not my typical read/listen. I actually don't think that I have ever read a mafia book/romance. I'm so happy that I took the chance though to discover this new to me author!

This was a really entertaining audiobook and the heroine had me laughing throughout most of the book. Lucy's inner monologue and her back and forth banter with Asher was fantastic. Throw in the whole fake fiance trope and this was an awesome debut novel. Even though there are some heavier and more serious moments in the book, Lucy and Asher's interactions and chemistry kept it more lighthearted and playful. Readers/listeners may find a few parts of the story a little over the top, but for me it just made it more fun. This is my first time listening to the narrator, Lacy Laurel. I thought that she did a great job as Lucy and I felt her performance was perfect for the character.

I didn't find the book to be super mafia heavy and though the overall pacing was fine, I felt like the end was a little rushed. I would have loved to have Asher's POV, but overall, this was a really enjoyable book and I look forward to reading/listening to more by this author.

Asher Black

This story was a fun and quick listen for me. The overall story line was a mixture of fun, action packed, & romance. Lucy’s roommate is rather fun, and sometimes annoying. But she is the first real friend Lucy has ever had. Asher doesn’t really have anyone either and that really pulls them together. I will be honest to me the best part of the story was the last couple of hours of listening, that is when the main action is happening. The book does have a bit of humor as well! The narration was very nice and easy to listen to.

I must be honest on this part though the blurb was a bit misleading to me. I never felt Lucy was in danger form Asher. And I was expecting way more mob ties throughout the story but their is very little mob action in this story.

Amazing!

Parker S Huntington has written and amazing story and the narration by Lacy Lauren just made it that much better! This is not your typical mafia romance book. It has some tension and angst in the beginning but with a few times that you will giggle yourself silly. You can see the way this relationship grows from beginning to end with no parts skipped. I love the way it started, the way it continued and the way it ended. There is no part in this book that is not loved and you will not regret getting this audiobook to listen to. I myself can’t wait for the next!

Amazing story, horrible narration

This is an amazing love story full of twists and turns but also completely realistic in the emotional sense. No falling in love instantly, no weak females. It promotes a realistic (sort of) relationship. The narration was simply awful. The narrator had a hard time reading and pronouncing words. Ear muffs turned in to ear muffins. Condescension turned in to condensation. It happened over and over again. She mispronounced words and it completely ruined the experience. Amazing story though.

very funny and unique

I've now read the book and listened to the audible narration and since I already liked the book A LOT- it was quite fun to listen and hear Lucy's inner rambling said aloud. the story has some typical romantic tropes but I felt they were introduced in a new way that made the story feel new and unique and seriously I laughed out loud quite often. The narrator was new to me and she has a unusual cadence and speech pattern that took a little while for me to get used to but eventually that went away and I was just happy to listen to the story. I think that Lucy and Asher have a great story and I recommend both the book and audiobook.

I love Lucy!

This book kept me hooked from the intrigue, twists and turns, romps, harshness, tenderness, betrayals and courage. The characters were well written and the whole thing brought to life by the fantastic characterisation of Lacy Laurels voice! I think this would make a great movie! (Well it did! In my head!)
I was hooked and I love Lucy and Asher Black!

Asher Black will make you swoon

I enjoyed listening to Asher Black. I loved the narration, it was easy to follow and the performance was great. I’d recommend this book to anyone who likes mafia books, rich business men, funny independent women, or a combination of all the above. This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I’m looking forward to reading more.

The whole package!

Lucy Ives was a foster kid, she didn't have an easy upbringing, floating from foster home to foster home. She hightailed it out of the country to volunteer abroad as soon as she turned 18 to escape her awful life and what it had become. She's back now, and her roommate talks her into going to a club on her first night back. When the unthinkable happens and Lucy is stuck in a situation, she makes a call to the cops which she realizes belatedly was the absolute wrong thing to do. When the mafia's fixer comes to take care of her, he ends up doing her a favor and sparing her life. Now he tells her she owes him a favor, play the role of his fiance or he will finish the job he was suppose to do in the first place.

Asher Black is the mafia's fixer, he works for the Romano family. He is cold, calculating, and oh so dream worthy! He spares Lucy's life realizing he can use her to his advantage.

Lucy and Asher have an instant gravitation towards each other. They keep you rooting for them the whole time. When things start to fall into place everything just feels right in the world. Lucy realizes she wants this thing between her and Asher to be real and she keeps reminding herself it's just for show, even though the signals Asher are giving don't seem fake.

This book blew me away. It was sweet and dark and suspenseful and loving and just everything all wrapped up in one. Of course I do have a soft spot for mafia romances, they are always the books I am drawn to. I love the suspense of them and the sweetness as well. You get to see both sides of the coin when it comes to the male lead. You see the lethal side and the loving side and realizes they are really just one in the same, they are lethal because they are protecting those they love.

Asher was the epitome of perfection! I was taken with him from the start and I never looked back!

This book was a favorite for sure and one I will revisit often. I loved it with all the action/drama/romance.. I just can't get enough of the Romano family. Parker really has a way with words and knows how to keep you engulfed in a book so much to where you forget where you are. You feel as though you are there immersed within the pages, living along side the characters. They feel so real it's as though you know them personally and are a part of their lives.

The performance of this book was great! Lacy did a fabulous job narrating this book! I look forward to listening to more of her work.

Powerful Romance

This is a powerful romance story about a girl whom finds herself in debt to a mafia fixer. Lucy calls the cops thinking she is witnessing a girl being hurt. What she doesn’t know is that the club belongs to a powerful mafia family. Asher is the fixer for the mafia, and is searching for the girl who called the cops. Instead of killing Lucy, he spares her life telling her she owes him a favor. The two have an incredible attraction to each other, and eventually fall in love. When Lucy’s life is in danger, she sees how deadly Asher can be. This story has plenty of action, one very hot sexual scene and a very good HEA. I enjoy listening to Lacy Laurel, she has a wonderful talent in bringing the story to life.

love it

Liana 4.5 stars
Asher Black is the second book that I've read by Parker S.Huntington.
Again the writing in this book it's amazing as the author has a way with her words that captivates you so much because you just can't stop reading/listening as you want to know what happens next.
The way the characters are build and the story it's just so good that sometimes you forgot about your surroundings.
It's a fast-paced story full of actions, never a dull moment, slow burn intensity between the main characters but so worth it.
Asher is fantastic and always respects her and never goes over the limit or pushes her into uncomfortable situations although he can't help it when risky moments happen and always playing the hero.
Lucy, being a foster kid has been through a lot and she wants to make something with her life. My God this woman won't stop! All of her inner thoughts are amazing, always going through a little drama in her mind and always doubting the other person's reasons but it's inevitable because of her past.
Great writing, slow burn spiced with a lot of chemistry and sexy moments between Lucy and Asher, it's more a friend to lovers situation as they get to talk and know each other more before anything happens but a great story nevertheless.
I only gave 4.5 stars because i was annoyed by the narrator's voice at times.

Asher Black!!!

I truly enjoyed this listen! Both for the characters and storyline as well as the narration!! I wasn’t completely sure about Asher at the beginning of the book, spoiled rich boy that he appeared .. but I gained respect and love for him as the story moved on!

The fake fiancé story always gets me at first because it’s a sad commentary on life usually, but this one wasn’t so much of that as I’ve read before. Parker S Huntington did a wonderful job developing the characters and writing this story.

Lacy Laurel is a great narrator and it’s always easy to tell which character is talking at any one time! This is no different!

"You're different than I thought"

Lucy has moved to New York and knows no one. She met her new roommate and they decide to go out to a club to enjoy the night. Little did Lucy know who she was about to meet and how her life would change when she did. Asher Black's life is complicated and he has so many levels that Lucy is surprised as she peels back each layer.

I loved this story, it's full of suspense, lust and a slow burn to true love and finally giving into desire. Lacy Laurel did a really good job narrating this story and giving it the emotion needed to keep me interested in listening. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it.

I received a code from Audiobook Obsession Review to listen and give my honest opinion. 5 stars from me.

Not What I Expected

Lucy is just a normal college girl who is studying and trying to make a future for herself. Until she witnesses something and reports it to the police not knowing she is dealing with a known mob member. He would have killed her for it, but instead he offers her a deal that she can't refuse. I really enjoyed this story far more than I thought I would. Especially with the way the beginning started. I won't divulge what I'm speaking of because I firmly believe in letting the people read the books themselves. Let's just say It made me think that the story was going to go a certain way. I kept reading and I'm glad I did. My thoughts on where it would go were so wrong. I can't really say that I see anything wrong with this book. I would have liked to see some chapters from Asher's point of view just because. I think I'd of also liked more information on what happened to certain characters at the end of the book. I also wish it had been a little longer. This has been a very uniquely told story. I am impressed with how the author could take a very popular topic and genre and make it entirely their own. The narrator did a fantastic job as well. I fully recommend this book. Be prepared to be engrossed fully. I read the first half in one sitting!
