Publisher's summary

From USA Today bestselling author Brynne Asher, a single mom romance with so many twists, it will leave you dizzy.

Zero-three-zero-nine. Four little numbers…four little words. They might be random and insignificant to anyone else, but they meant something to us.

No, they meant everything to us. Until they were ripped away.

That was the day our lives took a different course: one we had no control over, one that others puppeteered and mangled into a cluster so big it left us with emotional scars lined with resentment and venom toward each other. All because I’m a Montgomery and he’s a Barrett.

Now, Trig is back and he hates me with more hostility and rage than ever…and I’ve learned to do the same.

But when the world comes crashing down and the stakes couldn’t be higher, I can’t run and I can’t hide. I need the help of the one man whose loathing for me runs deeper than blood and colder than his icy-blue eyes.

I need Trig Barrett...in more ways than one.

OMG! Awesome story!

Love Brynne Asher - she is always a one click for me - I have listened to everything she has on Audible and her books are ALL good. This book was a fantastic listen. Loved Ellie and Trig's story - second chance romance, twist and turns to the story that you will not see coming. Worth a credit - YES! Can't wait for the next book - Betrayed Love. Audible book cannot come soon enough!

Texas, Single Parent, True Love, Family

Top 5 things I loved about this book:

1. Texas. I am a Texan … so when a book features my home-state I am always a bit reluctant that the author will not do our Great State justice. Brynne Asher nails it … she does Texas proud. Thank you for that!

2. Single Parenting. I absolutely adore a single parent romance.

3. True Love. because that’s why I read romance, it can break you apart and then put you back together with a smile.

4. Family (both good and bad) meddling family members, yup, that always adds a nice bit of drama.

5. The numbers … oh my poor heart can’t handle zero three zero nine.

Believe me I have about a million other things I loved about this book, but I won’t bore with that list.

I’m usually not a big fan of flashbacks but it works for this book. It adds such great understanding and allows the reader to feel the depth of love, despair, and yes, even hate.

Trig is a Barrett; Ellie is a Montgomery. And there’s the problem. According to Ellie’s dad there is nothing more evil than a Barrett. So, when Trig and Ellie fall in love and Ellie only just recently turned 18 years old there will be hell to pay. And boy, do they pay.

Fast forward 10 years Trig is back from California and Ellie’s life is in shambles. Trig jumps in to help Ellie because no matter how hard he tries he can’t stay away … Ellie doesn’t want his help, but she knows he will fight for her no matter what.

My heart melted reading about Trig and Griffin … chicken nuggets and french fries is the way to a child’s heart; pretty much accurate.

The twist and turns of this book will keep you on the edge of your seat. I thought I was getting a second chance romance, but it is soooo much more.

Great read

Seriously enjoyed all the unexpected twists and turns, flashbacks, and love in this story. With each series, the stories get better and better.

Took a long time to like heroine

I pushed through the first half of the book despite finding the female lead overly dramatic and kind of bitchy, but eventually she mellowed and I stopped disliking her. I shouldn't have been surprised because I felt that way about her as a side character in the previous book. I kept listening because I loved the male lead and some of the side characters (leads from the previous book). I also thought the male narrator was great, Stephen Dexter is in my top five male narrators. Overall, I enjoyed the book.

I would listen to this book again.

The story was interesting. I enjoy second chance romance. Additionally, there is action and a bit of mystery like other books by Brynne Asher.

The narration was great! I really like duel narration. Stephen Dexter never disappoints.

Not quite as good as the first

Ruined in part by the male narrator. Lidia Dornet does both female and male parts just fine. Stephen Dexter is somewhat annoying

The characters didn’t grab my attention in this one - but I’ll try the next in the series and love Ms. Asher’s other series

Found a new go to!

Recently stumbled on this author with one of her other series and I’m quickly becoming a huge fan. Love to toggle back and forth between audio when working out, driving, or doing paperwork. Her storylines are great, performance by the narrators were spot on! Recommend this book and the whole series!

Stunning, Heartbreaking, and So much love!!

I have waited for Broken Halo on Audio for what seemed like years, but I'm so glad for the wait because we got Lidia Dornet and Stephen Dexter as the narrators! They did a fabulous job displaying every emotion between Ellie Montgomery and Trig Barrett, and the emotions felt by the Montgomery family and Faye Barrett as well.

Brynne Asher writes with love and sometimes anger on her sleeve as she pieces Ellie and Trig back together after almost a decade. Their reasons for being broken apart are known to only a few, and Trig is not among that select few. All he knows is that he was threatened with prosecution, Ellie turned her back on him, and he lost everything he thought he had.

In the meantime Ellie is currently in the process of losing everything she holds dear, and while Trig might be able to help her, he turned his back on her years ago after their world was destroyed and she can't bear to look at him. But every time she tries to get rid of him someone else throws it in her face that he's the only one that can help her right now, after all he's the Montgomery family attorney.

But why would they hire him after all that ten years ago? If Kip tried so hard to get rid of him, why is Jen trying so hard to hold on to him? And why does Ellie keep getting in trouble? Is this just her past rearing its ugly head, or is someone out to get her?

Broken Halo is still my favorite Montgomery book whether it's on ebook or on audio, Brynne Asher does an amazing job tying Ellie and Trig back together, the love, the hate, and the angst floating around them at every angle will keep you up at night until you've finished this book, it's just THAT GOOD. 5 stars for an amazing ride that even at the end had me in tears, Faye Barrett would have been a perfect mother for anyone.
