Publisher's Summary

Born into the factious world of war-torn Arabia, Muhammad's life is a gripping and inspiring story of one man's tireless fight for unity and peace. In a world where greed and injustice ruled, Muhammad created change by affecting hearts and minds. Just as the story of Jesus embodies the message of Christianity, Muhammad's life reveals the core of Islam. Deepak Chopra shares the life of Muhammad as never before, putting his teachings in a new light.

An accompanying PDF file chronicles Muhammad's life and genealogy.

Critic Reviews

“[O]ne of the most imaginative and touching biographies of Muhammad….Chopra’s grasp of Muhammad’s life and mission extends his range in a surprising direction; his popularization is welcome.” ( Publishers Weekly)
“Compellingly told, this is not only good storytelling, it also helps readers, especially non-Muslims, better understand the complexities and contradictions surrounding Islam.” ( Booklist)

Poorly written and poorly narrated

I was a bit surprised about how poorly written and narrated this book was. Dr. Chopra is capable of much better writing. He certainly should have let a professional narrator do the reading.

All but unlistenable! Deepak!! Pay a reader!!

It’s mindnumbing these egotistical authors who insisted on reading their works. Reading is a different skill set. Some authors can do it, most cannot - Particularly those with accents so thick you can barely understand them. I wanted to hear the book but have so much difficulty understanding him that I cannot continue.
I’m frustrated that what seems like common sense was ignored. This is an important story for English speaking people to be aware of and to read. I would think you would want to make it as easy to digest as possible, knowing the many foreign names, words, concepts are already a stretch. WHY would you make it even more difficult by having a reader who is extremely difficult to understand? I like Deepak Chopra, which is why I bought the book. I’ve enjoyed him on talk shows and giving talks etc. but in those environments I’m able to see his face and eyes, which always makes it easier to understand someone with an accent. This is not that. This book is foreign material about a foreign concept with foreign terminology and names...
it was a dumb move not to have a native English speaker read the book. If you translate this to Japanese, you’ll probably have a native Japanese speaker read it, same with Swedish or Afrikaans or any other language. Why do less for the English speaking readers?
