Story
The Sacred Enneagram is a trustworthy, richly insightful guide to finding yourself in the enneagram's 9-type profiles, and applying this practical wisdom for a life transformed. Far more than a personality test, author Chris Heuertz writes, the enneagram is a sacred map to the soul. Lies about who we think we are keep us trapped in loops of self-defeat. But the enneagram offers a bright path to cutting through the internal clutter and finding our way back to God and to our true identity as God created us.

Burnout. Many women in America have experienced it. What’s expected of women and what it’s really like to be a woman in today’s world are two very different things - and women exhaust themselves trying to close the gap between them. Sisters Emily Nagoski, PhD, and Amelia Nagoski, DMA, are here to help end the cycle of feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Instead of asking us to ignore the very real obstacles and societal pressures that stand between women and well-being, they explain with compassion and optimism what we’re up against - and teach us how to fight back.

"True belonging doesn't require us to change who we are. It requires us to be who we are." Social scientist Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW, has sparked a global conversation about the experiences that bring meaning to our lives - experiences of courage, vulnerability, love, belonging, shame, and empathy. In Braving the Wilderness, Brown redefines what it means to truly belong in an age of increased polarization.

Publisher's Summary
For the Enneagram enthusiast looking to deepen their transformation, The Enneagram of Belonging offers an enlightening, enriching path forward.
Many have discovered the Enneagram to be a powerful tool for self-understanding, yet knowing ourselves doesn't necessarily mean we accept ourselves. Most of us tend to curate the personality of our type: leading with the traits we perceive as positive, and sidelining the traits that cause us shame.
But what if it all belonged? Rather than furthering our own fragmentation, what if we dared to make peace with the whole of who we are with bold compassion? The Enneagram of Belonging is your guide to this essential journey.
While most contemporary Enneagram books stop at the descriptions of the nine types, Enneagram teacher and The Sacred Enneagram best-selling author Chris Heuertz uncovers the missing link in our journey of living into our true self: radical self-compassion that can bring us back to belonging.
Rather than get stuck on stereotypes or curated personality, Heuertz proposes we develop an honest relationship with our type, confronting our "inner dragons," practicing self-compassion, and thereby coming to fully belong to ourselves - and, ultimately, to love itself.
In this in-depth examination of the Enneagram of Personality, you will discover:
- A fresh, compassionate way of understanding your childhood wound, which Heuertz reframes as your Kidlife Crisis
- Your unique subtype and how this colors your dominant type, plus how to work with your Enneagram instinct
- Practical insight to help you find freedom from your type's passions and fixations
- Your personalized path back to belonging, as you come home to your true self
- And much more....
As a masterful mapmaker and trailblazer of grace, Heuertz casts a vision for how we can create a better world. The truth is how we treat ourselves is how we treat others, so let's start with compassion, and let this outflow into our relationships, communities, and world.

So rich! Excellent explanation of Enneagrams.
The author introduces the essential concepts and language for the critical task of understanding and accepting all the facets of oneself. Listeners are presented with a very approachable and powerful tool that can support the hardest and most critical work we will ever have to do. The author digests the fascinating history and the powerful insights of the Enneagram in a surprisingly short amount of time given the richness and complexities of the tool. That would be enough for me, but I also found this book to be an oasis. I have thirsted for a way to describe the disconnectedness I experienced in my communities like my church or my family. I was supposed to belong, but I didn’t feel like I did. It’s been painful beyond words. I’ll be listening to this again. It won’t be because I need to know my number or that of others. It’s because I am on that journey of becoming. The author offers some beautiful tools for a practice that starts with me accepting all of myself and expands to accepting all others. That is the belonging I need and want. That is my work. That healing clarity is priceless.

I'm disappointed 😞
Honestly I thought it would be like a book that shows me how to put myself into knowing how I can now belong or help others belong. By telling me what needed to be done. Just seems to give short intros on the concept. Wish it could of been better.
You know I got to say that I love that the Forward by Brene Brown mentioned her experience with the first book this author did. Because I decided to get that also and listened to it first, than excited for this book it being so advanced. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with this book. I even questioned if it was by the same author. I was very disappointed with how nothing related to Christian literature is mentioned in the majority of the book. He now using other concepts like Buda, Asian gods or other cultures.
Chapter 1: felt like it was full of his complaining as he went over different origins of the enneagram with references.
Chapter 2: sounded like he was saying too much for something that could of been minimized. It not even sounding descriptive.
Chapter 3: He just gives his opinion but doesn't feel concrete to consider. With only 10 minutes of interesting overview on the numbers of the enneagram.
Chapter 4: In this chapter he says "the enneagram is worse than religon. The chapter being a short summary of the wing types.
Chapter 5: Is when he mentioned a bible story only to make a single short point.
Chapter 6: Already half way through the book and he is still talking about disturbances that we go through, how they work together, stories to make a point or the input comparison with other references over the concept. But still not going over what we can do to belong. An how to get to healing feelings for us to finally belong. 😱
So i skipped ahead to chapter 8 to see if it finally goes into that at the end of the book. But it took 15 minutes to finally come to talking about the 9 enneagram types for a bit.
So i continued skipping ahead but than looked into the pdf file outline. It made more sense but I've read other enneagram books that describe these facts so much better and focused on the topic. So I can't grade this book high even returned it.

Potentially interesting content hidden in a mess of numbers and categoried
Some nice insights/thoughts here and there. For those who enjoy hearing more numbers and category names than content about them. ”25 with sidestuff from 6 and counterforce of 902”. Not a fan of putting categories and labels first in understanding the human mind. Although understand the need of labeling their identity for some individuals. Definately needs visual support, wouldn’t recommend as an audio book.

I loved this book. I discovered the author through Brené Brown’s podcast and did a test. The results of the test we’re illuminating but left me feeling I didn’t know how to understand the information more deeply and in a way that connected to my soul. This book is the answer to that conundrum.

A guide book for self awareness
Brilliant. I've been a student of the enneagram for 6 years and been caught in the popular ways of working with it.
Christopher has brought to life a way I can allow the enneagram support me in a deeper understanding of self. Being a body type, I am particularly struck by the wisdom shared in part 4 of the book. It is a key for me, possibly to unlock what I have hidden away for so long. May I return to belonging to myself so that I may, more truly, belonging in the world.
Thank you

Disappointed
After hearing Heuertz on Brene Brown's podcast, I was so excited to purchase this book.
I agree with other reviews in regards to Heuertz' narration. His hurried pace and bored tone makes it difficult to absorb and enjoy the wonderful content of the book.
