Publisher's Summary

This Is Gonna Hurt: Music, Photography And Life Through The Distorted Lens Of Nikki Sixx is all Nikki Sixx. It is a collection of compelling photography and stories that capture the rage, love, optimism, darkness, and determination that shape his work. It chronicles Sixx's experiences - from his early years filled with toxic waste, to his success with Motley Crue, to his death from an OD, and his eventual rebirth through music, photography, and love.

Love story, bad-ass rock tell-all, social commentary, family memoir, This Is Gonna Hurt offers the compelling insights of an artist and a man struggling to survive, connect, and find a happy ending - a search that fuels Sixx's being.

    "Its Nikki Sixx"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you love Nikki Sixx or even like Motley Crue you have to hear this book. I read the book and then bought the audio book, He makes it so real. His voice is so soothing. The chapter about his sister Lisa makes me cry every time. You can hear the pain in his voice when he talks about her. He is a very proud man, proud of his children and proud of what he has done with his life from the dirt streets and heroin addiction to the man he has become today.

What does Nikki Sixx bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Himself in a raw form

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cry every time I hear the chapter about Lisa

"Being A Photography Addict, I Saw Myself In This."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Probably not. I read it because it hit on a topic I have never seen covered before and never heard anyone else discuss before, photography addiction. The drive to take just one more picture to try to get that perfect one. Let me change lenses, tilt the camera, oh the light is different, just one more shot... It is not a book for someone that is either not a Sixx fan or a photography addict.

What other book might you compare This Is Gonna Hurt to and why?

    None I can think of.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The ones where he talks about putting himself in harms way to get shots and stays longer than people would expect or want to get shots.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"You Don't Have To Smile, I Already Took My Shot".

    "Awesome book"

As a Nikki and huge Motley Crue fan I totally loved this book. And it also felt good to know someone out there could relate to alot of what I've been threw. And still struggle with today. And the advise he gave was awesome.

    "Great Insight"

Loved his truth and rawness in this book. And even if I may not agree with all his ways, doesn't matter to me or him, that much I learned.

    "Loved it!"

I loved this book. it was nothing like I had expected. Nikki did a great job narrating the book and I am going to be buying a physical copy of this book. I finished the audible version in less than a day.

    "Is this guy still high?"

Hated it. I found the book to be about this guys ego. Started ok with the first chapter then went into free fall. To be frank this guy came over as "Mr Know it All" and it was his ego trip. I am not into his music and I would think that if you aren't this book isn't for you.

    "Exceptional!"

Having read "The Dirt" and then subsequently each of the members of Motley Crue’s autobiographies I found myself reading “The Heroin Diaries” Nikki’s first book delving into the raw open wound that was his past. I was hooked, I couldn't wait to see what would come out of his mouth next. Open, Honest and sometimes harsh in its reality this book is simply brilliant. Nikki writes with frank open honesty (sometimes to the point of having to pick my jaw up from the floor) and his opinion may not be acceptable to everyone but that's ok.... it is, after all his opinion. I've read and listened to this book more times than I can remember and each time I find something else to re-read or rewind to hear again, often finding myself saying “did he really just say that?!” I loved this book and as with the first one find myself excited, sometimes saddened and yet totally inspired by what's contained in its pages. Punctuated with very clever and darkly beautiful photography its one you really cant put down. Well done Nikki... you did it again. A true great!
