Publisher's summary

She's my cherry pie. Tastes so good, make a grown man cry.

Who could forget the sexy "Cherry Pie" girl from hair metal band Warrant's infamous music video? Bobbie Brown became a bona fide vixen for her playful role as the object of lead singer Jani Lane's desires. With her windblown peroxide mane, seductive scarlet lips, and flirtatious curves, she epitomized every man's fantasy. But the wide-eyed Louisiana beauty queen's own dreams of making it big in Los Angeles were about to be derailed by her rock-and-roll lifestyle.

Ever wonder what it's like to f*** a rock star? After her tumultuous marriage to Jani imploded, and her engagement to fast-living Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee ended in a drug haze - followed by his marriage days later to Pamela Anderson - Bobbie decided it was time Hollywood's hottest bachelors got a taste of their own medicine. Step one: get high. Step two: get even. In a captivating, completely uncensored confessional, Bobbie explicitly recounts her encounters with some of the most famous men in Hollywood: Leonardo DiCaprio, Kevin Costner, Mark McGrath, Dave Navarro, Sebastian Bach, Ashley Hamilton, Rob Pilatus of Milli Vanilli, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, Orgy's Jay Gordon, and many more. Who's got the most titanic dick in Tinseltown? Whose bedroom did Bobbie (literally) set on fire? No man was off limits as the fun-loving bombshell spiraled into excess, anger, and addiction. Bobbie survived the party - barely - and her riveting, cautionary comeback tale is filled with the wildest stories of sex, drugs, and rock and roll ever told.

LOVED IT!

I'm embarrassed to say I had really low expectations for this book, but thought it would be a fun read anyway remembering my own days on the Sunset Strip. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. I usually can't stand it when the author is the narrator. This book is the absolute exception to this rule. Bobbie Brown did a phenomenal job narrating this. You felt like you were right there with her. I think she's missed her calling. I would listen to her as a narrator on other books as well. She was THAT good.

As for the story... where to begin? I have no clue how she managed to pack so much into less than 6 hours. She found a way to make the stories fun and at times gut wrenching, too. You really felt like a friend of hers living it with her. Also, I can't say she threw anyone under the bus really. YES she spread dirt on many a "dirty rocker boy," but not in such a way as to make you feel like she sold anyone out. She spoke her mind about some of the different nasty girls from Hollywood, but I never felt like it was a cheap shot. I'm pretty sure I'll have to read this one again.

My only complaint.... is that the book was too short. I would have gladly listened to another 6 hours :-)

A pleasant surprise

Any additional comments?

I've read a lot of autobiographies and I have to admit this one surprised me. When I heard her mention revenge in the first chapter, I thought she was going to tactlessly air out other people's dirty laundry but she is equally hard on herself. The other autobiographies I've read are all peppered with wishy washy "love yourself" self-help reminders that don't seem to be coming from the heart and just seem like a way to fill up space and gloss over the tougher details of their life that they do not want to share with others. Of course it is one hundred percent understandable that they wouldn't want to share private details but as a result the books seem more like a money grabber. We can get a brief summary of anyone's life from a magazine interiew. Bobbie fearlessly bares herself and teaches everyone else the lessons she learned in the process.

Bobbie Jean Brown's Prerogative

I was never a fan of hair metal. Okay, that’s a lie. I liked a few bands because it was a requisite of being teenager in the 1980’s. But, I think I did it to fit in or due to peer pressure… there had to be a reason. Anyway, I bought this book because I love biographies, I love stories about small-town kids reaching for their dreams and I love it when an author has the nuts to read their own story. This book hit enough of the right notes to convince me to buy it.

I’ll start by saying, for the most part, I enjoyed this book. But, there are a few things I’d like to warn you about. When Bobbie is reading her story, she’s on fire and injects herself into her story telling – she is a great narrator. However, when she’s reading words like abhorred and hubris, she stumbles and the narration falls on its face. I think I can pick every word that Caroline Ryder put in this book. Caroline was essential for helping Bobbie piece together Bobbie’s extremely chaotic life, but she should have kept the SAT words out of Bobbie’s mouth. On the rare occasion Bobbie pronounces them correctly, they stick out like speed bumps and left me wincing.

Kudos to Bobbie for her candor, but I didn’t end up liking her very much. I don’t think I can like someone who gets even, takes revenge and plainly discussed EVERYTHING about her loves/lovers. It felt bad. It made me feel bad. There is a way to tell a lurid story and be candid, without being this graphic, especially at someone’s expense. She made no additional friends in the telling of her story. I am glad that she didn’t completely tell Jani’s story, showing some discretion and humanity, as it clearly was extremely painful to him and something he didn’t want shared.

I’m happy that Bobbie has found something to live for other than drugs and the worthless men she has spent her life attaching her wagon to. Being beautiful is not earned and this woman seems to have learned a valuable lesson about what life is really like for mere mortals.

I had no idea who she was - and loved it anyway!

Would you consider the audio edition of Dirty Rocker Boys to be better than the print version?

Hearing her voice. Her audio inflections of outrage, sarcasm, or subtle disgust come in loud and clear. I felt like I was hearing a story told by a good friend over a drink or five.

What did you like best about this story?

I love her humility. She started out on top with everything handed to her, and when things go wrong, she has a dark but very human sense of humor about it.

Which scene was your favorite?

Davd Navarro's "introduction tape".

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was especially glad that her child came out alright.

Not Exacly What I Expected

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, This book gives a insider look into the rock lifestyle of the time. Bobbie doesn't hide things because she doesn't want to make someone mad or to make herself look better. Everyone's flaws are out on the table and so are hers.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dirty Rocker Boys?

Bobbie is so transparent in this book that you can really get a feel of the ups and downs in her life. She is also careful to tell her story from her perspective. Others are discussed in detail but she doesn't really speculate on their story as much as her perspective and experience.

Any additional comments?

I love reading biography or autobiography types of books. You can tell when a book is written on the fly or with certain things omitted or glossed over so that the person telling the story is seen in a better light. Bobbie doesn't hold back her own short comings and you can tell what she has learned from her experiences and how she really feels about everything around her. Is she a saint? Hell no. But is she just cold hearted and out to get everyone, not really. This is a down and dirty book and I loved it.

She tells it all.

I had never heard of Bobbi Brown before I listened to her book. I always like it when the author reads their own books but she struggles with it. Crazy stories of the very famous. Satisfied my need for hollywood gossip.

It's awesome to hear Bobbie read her book to you

If you could sum up Dirty Rocker Boys in three words, what would they be?

Honest life story of Bobbie Brown in her own words and tone.

What other book might you compare Dirty Rocker Boys to and why?

unique book; no other like it

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the honesty and way that Bobbie conveyed her story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I bought the book and to have her read it to me; such a great story and book.

Any additional comments?

Bobbie is honest about her life and this is a true and real story told in an awesome way. I am happy to own it and have the audio version as well. I am a fan of Bobbie and Jani.

Interesting Read

Very interesting story, some parts very graphic, but the narration was horrible. It sounded many times like she was rushing through the story to get done which was very distracting from the story.

O.....M......G!!!!!!

What made the experience of listening to Dirty Rocker Boys the most enjoyable?

Ummm....where do I begin? The entire thing was like a roller coaster ride.

What other book might you compare Dirty Rocker Boys to and why?

I can't even think of one.

Have you listened to any of Bobbie Brown’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!

Any additional comments?

A little sad that it took her so long to get healthy as a person and a mother.

Was free so I gave it a shot, but it was awesome!

Just finished this. Have been hooked on it all weekend. Brilliant tales of excess and inches from sunset strip, a place that I will always hold dear in my heart. This is up there with the best rock biogs, and wonderland avenue. Give it a listen. Well done Bobbie Brown!

Everything!

Just loved the whole book! Stories, memories. A glimpse back stage during rock wonder years. One of the best memoirs in this genre. The narration is brilliant too! If you remember the late 80’s, early 90’s American rock scene, you will enjoy this! Highly recommended ☺️

Too Fast for Love

Initially i wasn’t impressed but stuck with it and enjoyed it Bobby sure has had an interesting life both sad and funny and tragic in parts.
If your into 80s hair metal at the time you will relate recommended listen.
Glad she survived it all sadly many didn’t but we all had fun in the 80s it was a fantastic time funnily i saw Motley in a tiny club recently in London which reconnected me instantly back to that time as did this book.

Fascinating, engaging, whirlwind of a story

I read this book in a day- well, listened to it! I loved the story and was hooked from the start, it’s so well written and never boring! I’m honestly grateful to Bobbie for sharing her story with us, I always thought it would be so cool to be someone like her, friends with Slash?! Dating some of the coolest rockers?! Hanging out on sunset strip in it’s prime and catching the eye of interesting people. She wasn’t just a pretty face, she is a determined and headstrong person and clearly has multiple talents. This was an honest book but wasn’t just a retelling of experiences, it’s like Bobbie really allowed herself to delve into those memories and that could be heard in her voice, as well as in the descriptions of these events. I leave this book with a new fondness and admiration for her and just want to know more!

Boring and Trashy

Now I wanted so much to love this book, small town girl dreams of glitter and glamour, moves to the city, finds herself, gains confidence, meets cute boy, has the time of her life, retires to beautiful mansion with gorgeous children and cherishes her life whilst reliving her glory days. Glad of the things she's achieved with mere sexual power. That is not this book. I kind of like it a bit for not being that as it lurches from one drug binge to the next, destroying everything and just descending into anger and paranoia and madness. However, that actually makes it sound interesting and if you know any drug addicts, you will also know how dull they really are. Add to this that the author is vacuous and superficial and just gives you nothing of substance to hold on to. The only thing I could say about this is thank god its not the 80s and dont do drugs they make you boring. Another life ruined by Tommy Lee, probably so don't mean to be quite so hard on the poor woman. She deserved better than this.

Eye opening

Bobbi's story is a picture of what most of us can only dream and wonder about. While I have not followed her career, the men she mentions have been on the fringes of my music perception. And the Rock they made... A similar age I was fully engaged while Bobbi read her story, at times funny, at times incredibly sad, but I felt, always real. It must be age cause I too tear up too easily these days and as a guy, I feel strange admitting that..... If you have any interest in the lives who have shaped and helped shape the Rock generation of the 80s/90s, you should read this book. Better yet, do what I did , buy the audio book and have Bobbi read it to you. Cheers Brad.

I loved loved loved this listen. Bobbi doesn’t hold back on sharing names and piping hot tea that’s for sure! I really enjoyed the narration and insight into her life behind the glitz and glamor. I hope she narrates more Audible reads as her voice is soothing and oh so sweet.

Brash and honest

Being replaced by the goat Pam Anderson would be a rough situation to endure, and Bobbie comes across as a person scorned, who can't move on. However, she's at least got some seriously entertaining stories to tell. 100% worth the listen

Glad it was free

A series of trainwrecks from the vapid clique. Bonus that Bobbie Brown read the book but the way she struggles with words suggests that she didn't write much of it. Still, it was entertaining in parts and included in the subscription.
