Publisher's summary

Millions of viewers know and love Bob Saget from his role as the sweetly neurotic father on the smash hit Full House, and as the charming wisecracking host of America's Funniest Home Videos. And then there are the legions of fans who can't get enough of his scatological, out-of-his-mind stand-up routines, comedy specials, and outrageously profane performances in such shows as HBO's Entourage and the hit documentary The Aristocrats.

In his bold and wildly entertaining publishing debut, he continues to embrace his dark side and gives listeners the audiobook they have long been waiting for - hilarious and often dirty. Bob believes there's a time and a place for filth. From his never-before-heard stories of what really went on behind the scenes of two of the most successful family shows of all times, with co-stars like John Stamos and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, to his tales of legendary friends and colleagues like Rodney Dangerfield, Richard Pryor, Don Rickles, and other show business legends, Saget opens up about some of his personal experiences with life and death, his career, and his reputation for sick humor - all with his highly original blend of silliness, vulgarity, humor, and heart, and all framed by a man who loves being funny above all else.

Meh to the 2nd Power

Darn, someone beat me to the title to my review.

Bob does a swell job narrating, which receives the most praise in my review. I should mention, I know the Bob Saget of Comedy Central Roasts, stand-up and Howard Stern appearances. I know he was on Full House and AFV, but only by accidentally glancing across the shows during channel surfing. I went into this book, based on the title, looking for something tell-all-ish, something gutsy, maybe even a little wild, my hopes were dashed. It just isn't in here.

Bob and his family knows tragedy, no doubt. He loves his family and that is nice. He is a good father. Kudos. But, other than that, this book has little substance. He builds up these wild stories, on and on, creating the fantasy of a huge payoff and each time the story goes limp (nod to Bob and his love of male anatomy and flatulence jokes). Who else tells a story about going to pick up Rodney Dangerfield for a steak dinner only to learn he's been stood up in favor of Ron Jeremy and some hookers... and he leaves. What's the point of the story?! It all felt like a tease.

Oh, Bob, this book should have been titled much differently. Pffft.

My Dirty Daddy.

I write this review as a bias reader. Like many, I first knew Saget as my sitcom father on Full House. I found out much later that the comedian was not what he portrayed on his show. Saget is raunchy, dispicable, and the loveliest thing I've come to be a fan of. In this audiobook, you listen as Saget explains how he has become the comedian, actor, father, and director he has become. You are given a foundation to understand Saget's sense of humor and why comedy is an outlet for grief to us.
Between the jokes, his book is riddled with meaningful thoughts and insightful philosophies.
Bob Saget does a beautiful reading with as much energy as you'd expect. Every death, every life, and every experience is talked about respectfully, even in spite of his callous joking between sentences.

Everything I thought it was going to be

I always have been a big fan of Bob Saget. I heard them on a podcast with Chris Hardwick and ever since then I feel like I can really relate to him more. This book is a great look into his mind. He was funny, caring, and then filthy to cover up his caring. I laughed out loud a few times listening to this. I just wish it was longer.

Bob Saget's story told only as it could be.

Brilliantly written and performance was great. Had me laughing throughout, would probably read it again.

R.I.P. Bob Saget

I literally grew up watching Bob Saget whether it was Full House, AFV, or his stand-up later on. He’s always been a great storyteller and his off-brand humor will throw you off-guard and make you laugh. This was a great read and I will forever miss this funny man. Thank you Bob for being the father I wish I had and for making my childhood dope. 🕊

Great life in comedy and tragedy

Bob does an amazing job of analyzing life and death with his immature laughs! Must read/listen for any comedy fan. I’m sure he has more full house stories in him to share. Maybe in another book. He didn’t fill this book up with just full house.

brilliant funny and clever

Rediscovering Bob Saget as a grown up after vague yet cheerful memories of Full House childhood tv is like retrieving this wine bottle you bought for a picnic that never happened due to rain. It jst got better with the years so that it only delights you when you dust it up. when is he coming to London?

Crass and not worth listening to

Didn't find it funny at all and hence didn't finish it. Humour is poor, the language vulgar and story boring.
