Pamela Anderson
In this honest, layered and unforgettable book that alternates between storytelling and her own poetry, Pamela Anderson breaks the mold of the celebrity memoir while taking back the tale that has been crafted about her.
Her blond bombshell image was ubiquitous in the 1990s. Discovered in the stands of a football game, she was immediately rocket launched into fame, becoming Playboy’s favorite cover girl and an emblem of Hollywood glamour and sexuality. But what happens when you lose grip on your own life—and the image the notoriety machine creates for you is not who you really are?
Growing up on Vancouver Island, the daughter of young, wild, and unprepared parents, Pamela Anderson’s childhood was not easy, but it allowed her to create her own world—surrounded by nature and imaginary friends. When she overcame her deep shyness and grew into herself, she fell into a life on the cover of magazines, the beaches of Malibu, the sets of movies and talk shows, the arms of rockstars, the coveted scene at the Playboy Mansion. And as her star rose, she found herself tabloid fodder, at the height of an era when paparazzi tactics were bent on capturing a celebrity’s most intimate, and sometimes weakest moments. This is when Pamela Anderson lost control of her own narrative, hurt by the media and fearful of the public’s perception of who she was…and who she wasn’t.
Fighting back with a sense of grace, fueled by a love of art and literature, and driven by a devotion to her children and the causes she cares about most, Pamela Anderson has now gone back to the island where she grew up, after a memorable run starring as Roxie in Chicago on Broadway, reclaiming her free spirit but also standing firm as a strong, creative, confident woman.

Your story touched me deeply. I hope that standing totally emotionally naked - "raw and bare" in front of so many of us through the Netflix documentary and this beautiful autobiography made you feel like you are finally being seen and heard.
Your story is a classic example of the objectification and dehumanization of the person - a Woman - in our society in order to exploit her image to the fullest.
How many rapes can one Woman survive? I asked myself in tears and chocked up.
Having survived childhood sexual abuse myself, your story hit home. Although our external circumstances were different, we had more differences than similarities, but the main theme that I can deeply and emotionally relate to is the woman's journey in this world.
I am also a sensitive and romantic soul (must be the Cancerian quality we share) who tries to "earn" the love of others by doing anything for those we love. We are the ultimate givers and often find ourselves in a state of deep emotional bankruptcy when we give until there is nothing left, even if the return is minimal or none.
I identify with you about losing you lover and never being able to love the same way again after that love is shattered. But you are right about being "brave" to love. And most importantly, discover self-love at the end of all the other ends. Funny, how we turn to ourselves as a last resort when our Self is the first one we should fall in love with.
I have walked the same path for many years trying to complete myself by finding the love I crave in others. It's a vicious circle. Only when you come to see yourself as the Love of your life, love finally shows up in the external realm. The magic of love is everywhere.
But I'm preaching to the choir, aren't I? :-)
You are my Hero. The way you took a stand after Tommy's abuse is legendary. I applaud you, my darling, from the depths of my soul. I grew up in a family where abuse was the norm. Not only did my mother never leave my abusive father whom she barely put up with -the big "love" would never work as an excuse, but she herself was also the source of much of the abuse.
I wish my mother was at a fraction of the mother you are. You put your boys and their safety first. In Tommy, you lost a part of yourself but you did not compromise on the well-being of your children. What an incredible strength and true example of LOVE there is. Thank you for showing the world how it's done.
The sex tape saga remains without a doubt one of the most painful for you because a part of something sacred and special was stolen from you two turning it into a cheap porn. It is a terrible violation of your privacy and your basic human rights. It is another rape. This time the whole world has been part of a gang bang. How telling and how catalytic for the times we live in. It is not so much the theft that is disheartening but the vulture-like reaction of the masses that is the tragedy. They say there is no such thing as bad publicity and many followed this incident as a way to gain public status as a celebrity but for you it was something deeply personal and special. Just like your feelings for Tommy. It was a terrible publicity for YOU. The crime without any punishment. Once again.
For that, my heart breaks for you, my dearest Pamela.
I command you to be so brave and let us all see you as a woman of deapth and authentisity with real feelings and emotions, a wife and a mother, a poet, writer andva traveler through life.
I admire you for not victimizing yourself over this. You have no reason to feel guilty or ashamed.
I hope that now that you have found your true voice (in more ways than one!), your life will take a new turn towards the Love you are looking for!
Thank you again for your courage to step out of the shadow of your public image and let the light shine on who you really are.
Stay strong! Love yourself! Thank you for your generosity in sharing yourself with us.
With all my love, you are my soul sister.
Take a good care of yourself and your boys.
Love, Ella
