Publisher's Summary

International best-selling phenomenon Mel Robbins has inspired millions to change their lives - and now she'll help you get ahead, get paid, and change your work life.

Women get mixed messages about how to succeed at work, and research shows that much of the career advice aimed at men doesn't even work for women. We’re left wondering: How do you say no without being labeled difficult? How do you get paid what you’re worth? What can you do when you start to doubt yourself? Should you go for that next big promotion, even though it’ll impact your family? What do you do when you’re feeling invisible and unappreciated?

Known for being 2018’s most-booked female speaker in the world and now a nationally-syndicated talk show host, Mel Robbins answers these questions and more with research-based strategies that you can put into action immediately. In this mix of one-on-one career coaching sessions and personal narrative, you’ll laugh, learn, and be inspired to get ahead at work - all while getting more enjoyment out of your life. No matter where you are professionally, Work It Out will give you the tools you need to create the career of your dreams.

I love Mel Robbins!

I love Mel Robbins and love all her books. My only problem with this book is quite a bit of advice mentions a partner and having your significant other help with this, that, and the other. As someone who is single, it's frustrating advice because me starting any type of business, or switching jobs, is never going to be a balance with my partner... Or having a partner take on something so you can fulfill a goal. Aside from that, awesome book

Mel will change the world

As an already accomplished business owner, the first minutes into the book I thought “this book probably isn’t for me.” Then I got to chapter 2 and holy crap- Mel spoke to me yet again. I knew I loved her for a reason. She’s changing the world for the better one small action at a time. You gotta listen to this one!

Compelling, useful, and entertaining

This book may be called "Work It Out," but it goes far deeper than just our careers and work. So far, in listening to Mel's deep coaching and takeaways, I have learned that the challenges we face in our work are the same ones we have had throughout our lives. And while listening to each session I can see myself in every single one, and even better -- I get a clear understanding of how it can be changed immediately. This book, like all of Mel's work, stands out from the many "tips" and "hacks" we receive about how to be more productive and successful and instead focuses on how we can spot our subtle missteps and have the life and careers we have always wanted. 5 stars all around.

Worth the time

Although this isn’t a quick listen (I have very little time these days), I’m giving my review 5 stars! It was chock full of great advice in each segment. Although I resonated most with the last woman, Rachel - I took away helpful information from each of the 5 sessions. Quality advice that will help me as I go out into the world to search for a job after being a stay at home mom for the last 17 years. Thank you, Mel!!! P.S. I love your voice!

Cannot stop listening!!

WOW. This came out yesterday and I’m already almost all the way through. Mel dives deep into the past/stories of each guest and gets to the REAL root of the issue that they are facing. I just love her approach - straight to the point and no BS - but so caring at the same time. I feel so empowered already. Incredible.

A must listen for women

Mel nails it again. I'm an HR Manager and the advice is spot on. She goes deeper and explains so much. You'll learn and grow. Thank you Mel for another awesome listen.

Mel at her best!

Listening to these one-on-one coaching sessions is very inspiring. Mel is so good at getting to the heart of the matter and delicately handling her participants' emotions, then succinctly guiding them to the answers they need.. She combines just the right amounts of hand-holding and kick-in-the-ass motivation! Although this audio book is marketed to working women, I think the advice would be helpful to anyone, including stay-at-home parents, who sometimes are juggling more "work" than society likes to acknowledge. Also, the online companion workbook is an added bonus for anyone who wants to roll up her sleeves and use the exercises to course correct.

SO much useful coaching

I'll be honest. I'm only three sessions in but ALREADY I am blown away by how much I am learning. And just like Mel's last two Audible audiobooks, I somehow seem to relate with every session. I just wish I'd had this book twenty years ago because I would have done things so much differently in my jobs, and definitely while looking for jobs. I have to digest all this stuff but I can't wait to try out the nuggets I've got so far. Thanks, Mel!

Much Needed Advice

I listened to 45 minutes at a time on my afternoon commute. I still will go though the workbook. I feel unpacked, and like the workbook is going to cinch up a lot of what I heard and learned. In different ways, I identify with each of these women. Each of the insights were brilliant. I laughed, I cried (like 3 times and during the closing), I FEEL empowered. Mel is funny, gracious, blunt - everything that YOU need to hear that you didn't realize you needed to hear. This may not be THE thing that resolves EVERYTHING you're experiencing, but it's a heck of a good start. Maybe even listen with a friend on a weekly basis and go through your workbooks together.

You're in our heads Mel!

Impartial, emphatic and emotional. The circumstances in which you find yourself maybe different but fundamentally we all share the same desire to be loved, appreciated and valued. Mel Robbins rings those wake up bells loud and clear next to our precious brain. My best mentorship programme to date!

Mel never disappoints!

Got so so much valuable practical advice that I can apply to my career. I was about to skip some sessions thinking I don’t need advice in this particular area but there wasn’t a single session that I didn’t get a valuable takeaway from. Confidence boosting bible especially for women in the workplace! Thanks Mel ❤️

I found so many nuggets of gold in this! Many things were invisible to me prior, and there are so many tips I will now apply. I even sent the link to all the females at my work, as I think it is great for PD.

Inspiring and engaging

Mel was incredible in this audiobook, the way the book is design has a logical and a engaged flow. I totally love the way Mel wants to empower women around the world. My only suggestion for the audiobook to be even better, is to know what happened with the tree women after the coaching sessions

Key takeaways make it worth the listen

I really liked the key take aways from each chapter. However, the coaching style is too authoritative and at time brow beating. The individuals don't really seem to be taking responsibility for the decisions they make so there is no empowerment. It also means they can easily say they only did what they did because they were told they should. Would be interesting to see if the changes stuck over time.

Highly recommended

I'm half way through Mel's audio book "Work it Out" and it is just fantastic. I have learnt so much from just the first 3 coaching sessions. Oh wow! Mel is amanzing and I love the way she unpacks all the takeaways at the end of each session. I cant get enough, will definiately be listening again and going through the workbook in detail.
