Publisher's Summary

Ketogenic diet has become increasingly more popular, both as a weight-loss tool and also for its original purpose, which was for health. While it may seem like a new fad diet, the ketogenic diet has been around for nearly a century, treating people with epilepsy and other neurological conditions. It has even been found to reduce cholesterol, treat diabetes, and stop the growth of cancer.

Yet, many people who care about other creatures and the planet may worry that they might not be able to combine both the vegan lifestyle and a low-carbohydrate diet. No need to fear! Despite the change from the standard American diet, there are plenty of delicious options to enjoy at each meal. You can enjoy braised tofu with a variety of sauces, guacamole, agar snacks, fudgesicles, curry, tofu breakfast scrambles, and much more!

The change to a low-carbohydrate, moderate-protein, high-fat, and vegan lifestyle does not have to be difficult. In this book, you will be walked through step by step along the way, as you learn why and how to complete the vegan ketogenic diet in a healthy and balanced whole food approach.

Do not fear the possibility of nutritional deficiencies, as you will be able to enjoy health-promoting foods full of essential vitamins and minerals. The vegan ketogenic lifestyle can be even healthier than a majority of diets in America.

In The Vegan Ketogenic Diet: Combining a Vegan and Ketogenic Lifestyle, you will learn everything you need to begin the vegan ketogenic diet, whether you are an experienced or a new vegan.

In this book, you will find:

  • Details on why you may choose to go vegan if you haven't already

Complete waste of time

They start out by lecturing you on ethics. I’m already vegan. I prefer not to bask in immortality. Then they go through the science and history of veganism and the keto diet. Been there, done that. Do you think people completely foreign to the idea of these diets are going to see this book and go: “ That, that’s it. I want THAT one.”
I’m bored of the science, there’s nothing new here. I’ve heard it all before. I bought the book because I was interested in how the two diets worked together. That science would have been interesting, but they addressed the two entirely separately. This is all followed up by generic dieting advice, like meal prep and some recipes.
They advised unhealthy foods like vegan mayonnaise. The goal is clearly not health, but weight loss of the keto diet combined with an ethical/political agenda: animal rights.
It was a waste of time. And the voice was robotic and it was crackly at times. Sounded like Siri was reading it to you.

Excellent and informative book.

I have been a Vegan for a year and I wanted to support my daughter who decided to try the Keto diet for weight loss. So, I temporarily gave up Veganism and began the Keto lifestyle. I was shocked at how good I felt. I had more energy and clarity, I slept well, and was able to wake up earlier. I used to feel sluggish and tired as a Vegan. But, even with the positive short term results on the keto, I still believe that Whole Food Plant based it is the healthiest diet for long term health. So, I decided to do some research on a combination diet. This book gave me just what I was looking for and answered more questions than I had. It is so informative. I especially enjoyed the first 3 chapters. They give the pros and cons of each diet and combine the two showing that it is possible to be a Vegan and Keto at the same time. I am trying it now. We'll see how it goes.
