The theory of everything nutritional- for Dummies

I really didn't know what to expect from this book, but I would like a shot at being eternally awesome. So I bought in.

I am the opposite of a mindful, let's say "strategic", eater. I love good food, and crap food, as long as it tastes good and fills the void. This book gave me good reasons to change my ways and I need reasons to make changes of that magnitude. So when I finished reading, I had a better understanding of both nutrition, the politics of food production- and how my food behaviors effect me long term. I'd say that the author has consumed and digested decades of food and nutritional information, and shared the most salient info, sans the strident attitude.

Great motivation to find the organic farmer's market and eat mostly fruit and veg for the last week. Feel better, dropped a few pounds already, and have the all important understanding of WHY I must stay the course, when the craving for a double cheeseburger and grilled onions drunk-dials me at 1am.

Thanks for a very useful book!

An Eyeopening New way of looking at Food and Nutrition!!

If when you finish this book, and you do not have a new understanding of life...you might as well kick the bucket now. This gives you a new direction to live a healthy and fulfilling life!! I hope you enjoy and put it to use as much as I have!!

Meh

This book has helpful information, but I did have some issues with it. I was drawn to the book after watching his Netflix series. The author is very likable I wanted to see what else he had to say. If you’re not totally new to living a healthful lifestyle, there’s not a lot of new information here, but it’s a helpful refresher, anyway. I think that for people hearing this information for the first time, it’s a wealth of science-backed information that will no doubt inspire some people to explore a more healthful lifestyle. One issue I had with the book, though, is that the author’s passion often comes across as suuuuper judgey, which is ironic, as the end of the book is all about him stressing the importance of a positive attitude on improving health. There’s a section where he is promoting his line of smoothie powders. I’m not sure how I felt about that being part of the book. As someone who has been devoted to eating a natural, healthy diet for a long time, I’m used to paying a lot for food, but the powders are super expensive. Health is wealth, but these are out of reach for me. There was kind of a lot of repetition. In several places where he could have just mentioned that something had been previously mentioned in the book, he explained it again, in the same way. So, maybe he needs a new editor? And, OMG, the narrator. I would’ve rated him as 4 stars if not for the fact that whenever he was quoting a study done in another country, he would read it in an attempt at an accent from that country, which he never once pulled off, and it was totally unnecessary, to begin with. It got to the point that when I knew he was about to read a quote from a study, I would physically recoil. That, and I really wish that he had looked up the pronunciations for the foods, supplements, and constituents that he was reading about. He repeatedly butchered many of them. A small amount of research could’ve eliminated that and made the book more pleasant. Overall, I’m glad I read it, but wish that I had read a library copy instead of buying my own.

Easential

As a vegetarian for thirty five years I thought there was little left for me to learn. How sweet it is to prove myself wrong. Now I have been vegan for six months and feel exponentially better. Hiking ten miles everyday and running up the steep short hills with my son. My whole family had benefitted from this book. Grateful it was written so well.

The most important for a healthy life.

Interesting

Interesting read but WHY!? Did the narrator feel the need to do really bad accents when quoting research conducted outside the US? The Indian one especially questionable and the British painful.

Disappointing

I mean the theory behind a lot of what he says in the book in nice. But he also mentions slot of not fact based scientific ideas which have no merit to them at all. He basically rules out eating or drinking anything oh and you must be a vegan because as humans where not meant to eat meat. like come on dude apparently everything gives you cancer but some veg will heal cancer and if you eat to much of it it will give you cancer . all in all its an appointment unfactual pile of crap

Life Changing

Much needed kick up the bum

The time to change your life is now and this book gives you the tools and knowledge to do so. I wasn't expecting much from this book but is completely changed my perspective on my diet and health and has given me a path forward to better health.

The book is excellent

I'm glad I found this book by Darin. the book teaches you about your body and how the body works, how to keep your body working good and efficient, how to eat well to promote healthy body, which a lot of us don't do. it's an eye opener, there is so much going on in there. the book is amazing!

A great book for a simple yet deep understanding of nutrition

Jam packed with great information.
Great narrator. Really engaging. Sometimes I felt like I was listening to Darin himself.
The science stuff sometimes goes over my head. I like it but the details of it aren't of that much interest to me - I was into humanities at school rather than sciences - but it doesn't really matter as you still get the gist of what is going on and it's all fascinating. it will be of interest to those who love science I imagine! Looking forward to listening again in chunks so I can absorb all the information and write stuff down.
