Publisher's summary

Racer McKay is a broody bastard.

From the moment I met him, he's been rude, irritable, and unbearable. And worse? He's broke.

A contractor working to remodel my parents pool house for extra cash, he stomps around in those clunky construction boots with his tool belt wrapped around his narrow waist, and a chip on his shoulder.

Racer McKay is also infuriatingly...sexy as hell. I want to take that pencil tucked behind his ear, and draw lazy lines slowly up and down his body all the while wanting to strangle him at the same time. We try to stay out of each other's way...that is, until I have no other option but to ask for his help. But what I don't realize is he needs me just as much as I need him. I have money he's desperate for, and he holds the key to making my dreams come true.

Our pranks turn from sarcastic banter, to sexual tension and lust-filled glances. Bickering matches quickly morph into slow burn moments. We're hot, we're cold. We push and pull. I need him, I don't want him.

We're on the verge of combusting with an agreement dangling dangerously between us. Neither one of us can afford to lose one another and yet, we're finding it quite hard to decipher the line that rests between love and hate.

Contains mature themes.

Terrible voice for lead male

The narrator makes the voice for Racer sound like a squeeky nerd. It is not what you would think a big, sexy male would sound like.

Templeton the rat

Listen to this book, go for it. If you’re okay with the main character sounding like templeton from Charlottes Web. 😳

wondrous story

Loved the story, Georgie, and Racer, but I almost couldn't finish it with the horrible male narration. He made this handsome, ripped, all male Racer sound like a prepubesent twelve year old on helium. Absolutely story killing!

Okay story

After making almost through the whole book with his horrible voice. Cause the story isn’t bad. But at some point you think he’s gonna grow up a little with the way he talks. I’d be scared to take him anywhere. Spoiler. After they have sex he literally tells her friend and bother everything they did. Like in detail. This guy is a idiot.

Why? Just why?

As many others have stated, the male narration is horrible. The odd thing is that his narration voice, when he's just reading, is totally fine. But he uses this horrible nasal voice when his character is speaking. The nasal voice is more for a wormy bad guy type. I may listen to something else he narrates to see if he does that all the time. I really like his reading voice, but that nasal voice. 🙄

Male Narrator Ruins It!

I have never been so disappointed and turned off by a narrator!! Absolutely terrible! The story is actually good but the narration makes me cringe!!

Book 3 of Series

Racer is a jokester, a prankster and an all around funny guy...to a fault at times. But It's a cover for the insurmountable pile of bills he's paying left over from his dad's illness. Georgina is the princess daughter to one of the wealthiest families around and would be set for life if not for her desire to to make her own way and NOT follow her father's traditionally suppressive beliefs.
Cue in Racer, the only contractor willing to help her in making her dream come true, but at a cost neither one comprehends.
I was skeptical of this book because Racer is probably my least favorite character in the series. While the story surprised me, I will say the audiobook was a bit of a let down. I did not enjoy the male narrators portrayal of Racer or the inflection he took when narrating some of the scenes. He also Narrated other characters and did a decent job with them, but it just didn't entertain me with Racer. With Racer being the main character, I found myself cringing at it more than enjoying the book.
Amelie Griffin did a great job as the female narrator and with her POV chapters.

Good story, horrible narration

This was sweet, funny, and had touching moments; however, the narrator's voice for the main male character was horrible. It was like fingernails on a chalkboard listening to Racer's speaking voice. His inner monologue voice was sexy and I can't understand why the narrator didn't use just the one voice for Racer. Several times I wanted to stop listening because of the voices but kept with it because of the story. The supporting character voices were bearable so I would suggest reading the book and stay away from audio.

Great love/hate relationship

This was a great story but wish Racer’s voice didn’t remind me of Squidworth on SpongeBob.
