Publisher's Summary

He left to travel the world for fame and glory, but only after spurning Gabby Ward and crushing her young heart. Now Hunter Markham has come back home to the sand and salty breeze of the North Carolina Outer Banks so he can open up Last Call, a beach bar nestled among the dunes of the Atlantic.

Gabby Ward is not happy that Hunter has returned. Bitter over his rebuff years before, she's content to stay far away from him and his dangerously charming ways. Gabby's well-schemed plans to ignore Hunter go up in flames when he presents an offer to her that she simply can't refuse, throwing them together in a common quest to each reach their goals. Working together day in and day out proves to be problematic for Gabby, who soon realizes that the feelings she had for him are still very much alive.

Hunter struggles to reach through to Gabby's cold heart, all while starting a new career away from his life as a top-ranked professional surfer. What starts out as a mutual business arrangement soon turns into a passion that neither of them can continue to deny. Hard choices lay ahead for both of them when Hunter is offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to return to the pro surfing tour. Choices that could destroy what they have built or take them further than they ever had dared to hope.

same story

ok. I want to start off by saying I like Sawyer Bennett books. But not this one. I've been wanting to read this for a while. I finally purchased it because I love Douglas Berger. He is a fantastic narrator. But the story was the same as about a dozen others I've read. ..... slight spoilers....
second chance love, girl wants to hide relationship.... disaster..... relationship is good.... girl decides she knows best and ends relationship with the boy's 'best interest' at heart. uggh. it ends with an Hea. That's about all I can say about it. Not sure I'll read the next one. I'll find something else of Sawyer's to read.

Brilliant story

This book was so good I couldn’t stop listening. This is what I liked:
* Good storyline
* Characters that is described in a way that makes them feel familiar from the first chapter
* The chemistry between the main characters is sizzling hot from first moment
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* A lot of dialogues that’s making the story fun and intriguing
* Love scenes is steaming hot and also tender and sweet
As for the narrators, the performance is very good, pronunciation clear. The reading is made with feelings and that helped even more with the story coming alive.

I really enjoyed this book and want to continue to the next as soon as my wallet allows 😜
This is a series but can be read as standalone and I highly recommend it.

Great characterization and storyline.

Would you consider the audio edition of On the Rocks to be better than the print version?

I have not yet read the printed.electronic version, only the audio version. I often do both; however, I have not yet read the e-version on my Kindle. I was quite happy with just the audio, but will have it to fall back on when I am ready to read.

What was one of the most memorable moments of On the Rocks?

I think it was when Gabby Ward decided to react in a manner that she felt was the very best thing for Hunter Markham. It infuriated him, but he still recognized that she was doing something truly for him, and he was so in love and so frustrated.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Gabby got the best of Sasha, who was trying to make it look like she'd slept with Hunter.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A 2nd chance at love, hot surfer dude and sexy female contractor and the choices a young couple in love must make.

Any additional comments?

The narrators did a great job with the various character voices and characterizations. The storyline in itself was pretty good, not amazingly unique, but very good with a few zingers thrown in. I thoroughly enjoyed the audio book and have not yet read the electronic version.

Great start to the Series.

If you could sum up On the Rocks in three words, what would they be?

Awesome, Sweet, and Loving

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love the female character, she is spunky, a firecracker, and snarky.

Which character – as performed by Douglas Berger and Bunny Warren – was your favorite?

Both narrators did a great job.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was moved about how the story evolved.

Just OK

I love Sawyer Bennett’s writing but unfortunately, this book was just OK for me. The story was fairly predictable and not overly deep or angsty. I liked Hunter but Gabby really annoyed me with the way she pushed Hunter away and then was trying to treat their hook ups as casual, despite being in love with him since she was a teenager. I didn’t like that she also took advice from Hunter’s ex in the final chapters. The only character that intrigued me though was Hunter’s brother, Brody.
