Publisher's Summary

Never in a million years would I have pictured myself as an axe-wielding, dragon lady, chopping up multi-colored flannel shirts into my very own plaid mulch. But here I am, chopping away my frustrations.

It all started when my brother, Paul, convinced me to go on one last family road trip across the Mother Road with him and my dad. Just like old times, right? Wrong. What Paul fails to mention is his best man, Porter, will be joining us, who just so happens to be my childhood crush and the man who broke my heart four years ago. What is supposed to be a fun family bonding experience across Route 66 turns into a war of pranks, awkward moments and bathrooms full of dirty flannel shirts and day-old beard clippings. Paul's know-it-all attitude and Porter's devilish charm brings me to the brink of my sanity on my seven-day trek across the United States with three bearded men in a small 1980s RV.

A little juvenile for my tastes.

Although this book had moments of hilarity, I think I would recommend this for the later teenage reader. A lot of brother and sister ribbing with very juvenile undertones and the gross factor contributing to most of the jokes.
The narrators did well with the characters and the premise of the story was great, but I got very bored in the middle with the repetitive gas and penis jokes. Just not my cup of tea I guess.

Laugh out Loud FUNNY!!

Would you listen to The Mother Road again? Why?

Yes...It was funny and entertaining.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Porter, Marley's brother. The way he would fight with his sister or just give her a hard time was enjoyable.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Marley almost drank the pee bottles that Porter and his father filled on the way to get Marley.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was laughing so hard while listening to it at work they think I am going nuts.

Any additional comments?

Definitely a MUST listen! I will read/listen to this one again.

The Mother Road

I love this book! I’ve read it and now, after listening to it, love it even more! Hearing Marley and Porter come to life adds so much to the story. It’s still hilarious, laughter out loud funny!

Laughter until you cry!!

This audiobook book was the funniest thing I have ever heard!! There were many times on my commute to work I almost had to pull over because I was laughing so hard. I pretty much looked like a looney tune every time I listened by myself in the car! The characters are so well developed they will stay with you long after you’ve finished. This is my first Meghan Quinn book, but she’ll be a one-click in the future!!

5 Crazy Ass Must Read/Listen Stars!!!!!

Meghan Quinn's humor knows no bounds. Just when you think you've heard it all, she comes out with something that has you laughing out loud. No, I'm not gonna give you a quote. You have to experience her humor first hand to really appreciate it.
This was sweet, funny, a little heart-wrenching, sexy, and a whole lot of fun.
I loved the narrators. Greyson and J.F. did an amazing job with Marley and Porter along with the other characters as well. They gave them distinct voices and brought the story to life.

Perfect Casting = Welcome To My Top 10 for 2017

I loved this book when I first read it but I honestly didn't think it would translate so well on audio.
But I must say, this audiobook had the perfect narrators and I think it was even funnier to listening. Be ready to laugh from start to finish, like for real, LOL. Greyson Ash blew me away, what an outstanding job she did in this book, absolutely stellar work.

HI-larious

This book was friggin hilarious. There was lots of potty mouth, but I like that kinda thing. The dynamics of this family are endearing yet comic relief. Bless the person whose family looks like this. I loved all the details of the road trip - it allows the reader to follow along, maybe even allowing the reader to make a list for their own RT 66 trip. The yummy Porter made up for all of the bodily fluid jokes...
Meghan Quinn is definitely an author worth spending your money on to read!

So funny, but so touching!

Where does The Mother Road rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Probably somewhere in the middle- it was a very enjoyable listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Mother Road?

I loved the scenes with Porter reminiscing about momma McMann and how wonderful she was to him- I teared up every time.
And when the Bern man would "curse"...so much fun!

What about Greyson Ash and J.F. Harding ’s performance did you like?

J.F. brought a lot of emotion to his performance, it was great. And I liked that Greyson sounded very age appropriate. Her performance was a little awkward at times, there were some pauses between words that threw me off a little, but other than that they both did a terrific job,

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

So many laugh out loud moments! I listened to this on my commute to and from work and I know I had to be getting some looks when I was cracking up!
And times I would be tearing up, and especially at the end I was flat out crying! I listened to the last couple of chapters at home, luckily, because they really did me in.

Any additional comments?

I know this story is a little over the top with some of the humor, but it truly is a really wonderful look at family and friendships. I loved it.

I have NEVER belly laughed so hard in my life like I have in The Mother road!! I made the mistake and listened to it at work and got to the part.... "My asshole is melted!!" I lost it. I have every copy there is to have of this book I love it so much, its not like I was going in blind, but there are just so many parts that are so funny. If I ever need a pick me up, I alway go for a Meghan Quinn book!! Wish I had The Virgin Romance Novelist duet!!!
