Publisher's summary

Jack Myst infiltrated the Thieves Guild to avenge his mother's murder but never expected to find a home. Now a master thief, he grapples with his new identity as he unravels the secrets of the fallen Guildmaster. The trail of questions will lead to a shocking truth: that his foe is a remnant of an ancient race, the very devil of Lumineia.

Skorn.

Seething with hatred and cast out by the thieves, Skorn is not without allies. Forcing an assassin into service, he journeys to the forgotten fortress of Margauth, where a cult worships him as a god. With such an army at his command, he seeks a return to power and two keys that unlock a legendary vault.

The Vault of the Eternals.

A great followup!

I really enjoyed a number of other books about rogues and thieves (like The Lies of Locke Lamora) and this is now right up there near the top of my list. The protagonist has a good mix of cockiness and vulnerability and the story is unique enough that despite my dislike of genre mixing (slight spoiler sorry), I was still captivated. After listening to the first one, I immediately went and bought the other two books in the series and was not disappointed.

The second book was just as good as the first and still very engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed it and looked forward to the 3rd book.

good story

Jack's story is a fun adventure. The narrator is excellent. The popping sounds was distracting.

Worth the wait

Would you consider the audio edition of Thief in the Myst to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version. It is very convenient for me to listen to books on audio at work and on my way to work or while I work around the house. I enjoyed the first audio and bought this one as soon as it was available.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jack of course. His attitude and the ability to pull it all together

What does Derek Perkins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great narration first book and second one

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, However, it didn't work out like that.

Any additional comments?

Hurry with the 3rd audiobook, If you like this audiobook try Warsworn, and also The Chronicles of Lumineia Omnibus audiobooks

Awesome! !!

The narration was perfect as always. These side stories are a great addition to the Chronicles of Lumineia . Excited to see what Jack does next!

Not as great as the first, but still good.

Honestly, I was hoping for something more in this book, but it is still good. I love the character development and the story is pretty decent. One of my favorite moments was Jack stealing a ship, and that is because I felt like only Jack Myst could only do that. The only problem I have, Scorn. Rather than make Scorn a terrifying villain, he just comes off as pathetic. The first time Jack won was through deceit and secrets. Here, Scorn should have known what Jack was truly capable of and use it to his advantage rather. If you want a book better than the first, you are not going to find it here, but I still recommend it.
