Good stuff

Loved it. What a great joy to hear a presentation of the Dalai Lama himself.

Dense, heavy

This is a pretty heavy duty book on Tibetan Buddhism. HH the Dalai Lama is seen as popularizer of Buddhist theory and practice, but this book definitely is not for people who are new to the topic. It goes deeply into the details of what may be considered esoteric practices. I think it assumes a lot of background knowledge. Not a casual listen by any means. But if you're serious about deepening your understanding of Tibetan Buddhism, and you already have some context, you might appreciate this.

A fantastic book

The Dalai Lama is a man of renown and general respect and I find that the man is very intelligent. I believe that this book is maturative and developmental for a young man coming of age such as myself. I found this book to be very well written and I further highly recommend this book.

RECOMMEND

I listened to this book a long time ago, when I first got interested in Buddhism. I never wrote a review.
The information, although excellent, was way over my head at that time. I understand more of it now.
As always, the Dalai Lama is an amazing teacher. I did buy the actual book, so I can easily refer to passages as I go ever further into the study of Buddhism.
The narrator, mr. Eduardo Ballerini, as always, is a joy to listen to.
My thanks to all involved, JK.

Excellent, not a beginner book.

Great for those on the path who want more than a book on basics. Well read and extremely helpful

A lot of good information for a beginner

A lot of information for a beginner but there are components of the teachings I fully understood. I think the most comprehensive teaching is at the end of the book from his Holiness the Dalai Lama 😊

Not for me

I am nobody to disagree with Mr. Gyatso, but this book is not for me, each line unfolds in 7 steps, which become 5 which become 4 and the thing never ends. I have been a Buddhist for over 20 years and the best results I obtained were through simple meditation and without complex concepts that, in my opinion, are opposite to the Buddha's teachings.
