About this listen

THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO USING SYNCHRONICITY TO PROMOTE WELLBEING

Synchronicity: the phenomenon of experiencing a striking and meaningful coincidence that connects our inner and outer worlds. Synchronicity can act as a guide along our life path, helping us through challenging times, restoring self-belief and awakening a deeper understanding of ourselves and our destiny. Writing both for practitioners and for anyone interested in mental health, wellbeing and the opportunities offered by altered states of consciousness, psychologist Chris Mackey provides astounding case studies and many practical suggestions for working with synchronicity, from journaling and symbol analysis to dream interpretation and ideas for accessing flow. He makes a passionate case that acknowledging synchronicity, as well as other forms of transcendent experience, plays an important role in positive psychology – the science of wellbeing – enabling us to thrive and find fulfilment in life.

'A profound introduction to deep concepts of mind, meaning and the challenges of creating a life well lived for everyone.' (Ernest Rossi, PhD)

The incidence of mental illness has gone up exponentially in the past 50 years. The author explains how it is less due to changing environment and more due to our acceptance of pessimist explanations provided by researchers funded by the drug industry that has no motivation to publicize the self-healing nature of brain chemistry. Additionally, nature provides healing in the form of synchronicity that one would recognize if one is open to receiving it. The optimism in this book is based on science. I would describe this book as being illuminating in that it describes transcendental and transpersonal experiences as being transformative, and refers to them as 'luminous experiences' that advance our evolution. Being a Muslim, I found that this book validates my belief that human beings are the best of God's creation and that we are architects of our own destiny. It is empowering and faith-affirming. I would love to know the author's opinion of 'Way of the Seekers,' english translation of the 1925 Urdu speech by Mirza Basheer-ud-Din Mahmood Ahmad (1889-1965), that speaks of the evolution of the soul along with the evolution of the body. And of 'My Mother,' by Sir Muhammad Zafrulla Khan, that outlines a life shaped by synchronistic experiences.
