Publisher's Summary

The Insiders is the first in a brand-new romance trilogy from New York Times best-selling author Tijan!

Bailey is as normal as could be, with a genius IQ and a photographic memory. But still, normal for her. Then, things happen - a guy breaks into her house in the middle of the night to take her hostage. She finds out her father is actually billionaire tech genius Peter Francis, the same guy she’s idolized all her life. She learns all this when she meets dark, mysterious, and electrifying Kashton Colello. He’s an associate of her father’s, and he gives Bailey two choices - go with him and meet her father or survive on her own because those kidnappers are going to try again. It’s a no-brainer.

After this, three things become clear for Bailey:

1. She’s living at her father’s sprawling estate, complete with bodyguards and the best security that money can buy.

2. She’s no longer an only child. She has three siblings and has no idea what to do with them and vice versa.

3. She is being guarded by Kash himself. Personally guarded. And there is a lot of guarding going on there and some of it is going to drive her crazy.

A complete outsider in a world of wealth and decadence, Bailey has to find her way within a family that has more secrets than she could have imagined. One of these secrets could be deadly....

Hard feel the connection

Maybe if was because I was flipping from kindle to audible.... but I didn’t feel the connection between Cash and Bailey. I very much disliked the voice that narrators from Baileys POV. The picture from the cover, verses who she is described to be verses the voice narrated did not match up. With the voice narrating, I pictured a young tomboy from new jersey. Probably wears baggy pants and open flannels over a tank top and dirty shoes. So my picture of Cash as this older hunky muscular man gave me the impression of a guy robbing the cradle. And don’t get me wrong... I’ve read that Thorpe and I don’t mind it. She just didn’t seem like the kid genius in grad school so I couldn’t really get on board with the romance side of the story. I just didn’t think the voice matched Bailey.

The story was good. I liked that cliffhanger wasn’t like crazy. It was mostly tied up. And the second book will clearly be another adventure but not like it’s one book split into three books to make extra money. Which I appreciate. I loved most the characters. I can clearly picture her mom/Chrissy and father/Peter. For some reason I let getting this Meet the Robinsons vibe? Like the Disney cartoon? I think because it’s this big mixed dysfunctional family of halfway geniuses on this huge estate. Like I half expect there to be a legit time machine in the basement. Just think about it. Overall good book. Looking forward to the next one.

Interested to see where this story goes

I love Tijan's work, and while this was entertaining I can't say this is her strongest work to date. The story is interesting, no doubt, but the relational development between Bailey and Kash is severly lacking. I hope their relationship gets more meat to it in the next book. Overall I'd say this is a good start to a series. I'm looking forward to what comes next, and I really hope the next book is dual POV so we can get into Kash's head a bit more.

Tijan nails it again!!

Disclaimer - this review might be biased because o have a writer’s crush on Tijan. She always has a way of making characters come alive, of bringing twists and turns , of making me laugh and cry - sometimes in the same sentence. She’s an artist with her stories and I’m a total fan girl.

Narration: hadn’t heard anything from Emma before but she did a brilliant job.

Story: can’t wait for the next book!!

Not Tijan's Best

The story locked cohesiveness and I struggled to remain engaged. The narrator was merely acceptable

Narration is just so so

I love Tijan books but this particular audiobook I was very disappointed. I should have listened to the sample longer before buying it. Narrator’s voice sounded whiny I understand this is YA book and she wanted to sound young but the voice didn’t portray the main character Bailey. I just didn’t connect with the narrator’s voice. I just stopped listening to it not even halfway due to the voice got really annoying. I hope that the author and publisher get a different narrator for the other books that are coming up in this series because this series is really great.

Not Tijan's best but worth the listen

Foremost, it's my opinion that the Narrator that was utilized for "The Insiders"is extremely talented BUT completely wrong for this Novel. Also, spoiler alert, with ending the way it was I really hope there's a second Novel!

A Suspenseful, Dark, Twisted, Family Drama.🌟

The Insiders (The Insiders Trilogy #1)
By: Tijan
Audiobook 🎧
Narrated by: Emma Galvin
Length: 11 hrs and 5 mins

I loved this story. Tijan does family dysfunction and drama like no other, and the opening book of this complex trilogy is definitely full of both.😕

Bailey was raised by a single mum whose a nurse, her dad, had died serving his country in the military. She has a photographic memory, and her computer skills are off the charts. She's idolized tech billionaire, Peter Francis, since she can remember and has been lucky enough to win scholarships from his company to pay for her further education.🙏

One dark night she's set upon in her room and warned she's about to be kidnapped. She's told to fight and avoid being removed from the house; she's terrified!😰 That night changes her life forever more. She meets Kashton Colello, who informs her that her father is, in fact, very much alive but was never who she was told. She's got a huge decision to make, go with him, and be safe from more kidnap attempts or leave and go back home with her Mum, and she'll always be at risk!😳

She now has a Dad and New Half Siblings, a Big Brother, a younger sister, a little brother, and a new stepmother!😕 That's on top of Kash and all of the teams of security she's now surrounded by. She's only known to a very few as anything but a friend staying with Kash. She feels belittled, hidden away, and like a complete outsider.💔 Things don't improve much over time. There are secrets within the family, and they aren't telling her anything. Is she even safe with them?😳

This is so well written. I loved Bailey and Kash together and how their relationship developed over time and text.😆 I really felt for all four children in the family. She had a more rounded upbringing than the rich ones with everything at their finger tips, seemingly, but she craved their love and acceptance.🙏 The tension and suspense ebbs and flows but grows each time it's reintroduced. It's nail biting, and the ending is a big GULP moment. I'm so excited about book #2.🌟💥

The narration does this book justice. It took me a minute to get used to the new voice, but she really suited Bailey.🙂

I give an overall '4.5 star' rating for The Insiders #1.🌟 That's for both the ebook and audiobook.📖🎧

Great story, fast paced and great plot

Great story. enjoyed it and found it was very easy reading. I think the characters could do with a bit more building to get to visualise them a little more.

Fierce and fast

First part of the trilogy and loved Bailey. How thoughtful and feisty she was even after the terrible events that happened to her. It was hard to keep track of all the characters but they built on to the context of narrative. Was a little taken back by Kash and his story. This book is full of suspense and twists. Can’t wait for the next instalment.
Very impressed by the audiobook performance- I could really see Emma as Bailey 💗

Did not want it to end.

I don't know how Tijan does it but this is yet another stellar book. I can not express enough how much her writing astounds me. I talk myself out of reading her books because I don't want it to be over and once I start I become totally immersed in her world. This is no different. The Insiders is full of the drama that I love from her books. If you have read any of Tijan's books before then you know what I'm talking about and I'm telling you right now go out and get a copy of this and start reading NOW!

The characters are instantly likable (or not depending on who they are) Bailey is smart and sassy and doesn't believe that just because you have money you are worthy. Kashton is fierce, powerful, dangerous, and hot enough to get your blood pumping, while he may live in the world of the rich he doesn't believe that he is better. Unlike some books where the heroine always lands herself in trouble, I found Bailey to be somewhat cautious and listened to her protector (not always of course). Kash's domineering, broody side makes him quite irresistible and when the sparks fly between him and Bailey it is pure pleasure.

If drama and romance are your mixes then you can't miss this series.

Bailey wakes to a nightmare she is being kidnapped but she is also being helped. For some reason, one of the men taking her is telling her how to get out of it and when she does she is not ready for what comes next.

Suddenly safe but still in danger Bailey is pulled from her familiar world and put into one of money, power, and evil. What's more, is that the man she has always idolized computer genius Peter Francis turns out to be her father. Now Bailey has brothers and a sister but she is told it's to be kept a secret. She is there to be kept safe and nothing more. She will not be made part of the family and she will hardly deal with any of them. Kash will figure out who is targeting her and she will return to her life.

It is not smooth sailing though and Bailey has a lot to deal with. Kash is undeniably sexy and she feels pulled to him, while she fights it so does he. When Bailey finally meets her family she is not prepared for the reactions, each is different and while they may have all that life can offer they don't seem to be happy. There is more going on than she can even grasp.

Bailey's defense in a world out of her control is her computer and her hacking so when she feels against the wall she hacks. At a genius level of intelligence, Bailey could get away with a lot and she does, her whole family won't have a secret left when she is through. But too late she realizes what she has done to those she wants to let in and she has to fix what she's done letting her walls come down.

It seems no one can hide who Bailey is though forever and the whole family is filled in on why Bailey is really at the estate with Kash. With the whole world not only finding out her secret but Kash's too things are about to get out of hand. The danger is closer than they thought and Bailey could be lost for good.

“You want to know how I feel?” he bit out. Why would he spit those words? He started, harsh. “I fell in love with you before you even knew me. When your father asked me to watch you. After we found out Arcane was targeting you. It was then, during all of that time that you became mine. You just didn’t know.”

Happy Reading.
