Publisher's summary

Deep in the Somerset countryside, the Combe Pomeroy village library hosts a monthly book club.

Ruth the librarian fears she’s too old to find love, but a discussion about Lady Chatterley’s Lover makes her think again.

Aurora doesn’t feel seventy-two and longs to relive the excitement of her youth, while Verity is getting increasingly tired of her husband Mark’s grumpiness and wonders if their son’s imminent flight from the nest might be just the moment for her to fly too. And Danielle is fed up with her cheating husband. Surely life has more in store for her than to settle for second best?

The glue that holds Combe Pomeroy together is Jeannie. Doyenne of the local cider farm and heartbeat of her family and community, no one has noticed that Jeannie needs some looking after too. Has the moment for her to retire finally arrived, and if so, what does her future hold?

From a book club French exchange trip, to many celebrations at the farm, this is the year that everything changes, that lifelong friendships are tested, and for some of the women, they finally get the love they deserve.

Judy Leigh is back with her unmistakable recipe of friendship and fun, love and laughter. The perfect feel-good novel for all fans of Dawn French, Dee Macdonald and Cathy Hopkins.

Somewhat disappointed

I had a hard time following this story. It drug along, not at all as entertaining as Judy Leigh’s other books. I really enjoyed her writing in three other Audible stories. Also the narrator was hard to understand at times.

Poor audio quality

Difficult to follow the story when some of the character voices are very muffled. I had to have it on full volume with no background noise.

Meh

About a third of the way into this, I had to start over. I hadn’t connected with the characters or the story much at all, but I’ve enjoyed this author before. I was sure the problem was my own. However, starting over didn’t help. I hadn’t missed anything. The story is just drawn out and flat. It’s fairly uneventful. One might say it’s a “one note” song. The narrator reads that way, too, like she knows this book is going nowhere, as well. Pretty disappointing, as we expect better from this author.

Terrible narrators!

Might have been a good listen, if the narrators could have been consistently understood. However, they could not! I’ve enjoyed this author’s books in the past and, while the narration has sometimes been challenging, now I will find out the name of the narrator BEFORE downloading a book. Frustrating and very disappointing listen

I have enjoyed this author but

This book just never got me into the characters as some of her other books have. The audio was subpar and ruined much of the listening. The narrator was fair enough but again the sound dropping out made it frustrating. Not giving up on the author but will be looking harder and the narrator and production of the work.

Can’t understand narrator Chapter 34 missing

The narrator was so hard to understand I had go back numerous time to try to understand what was said. Chapter 34 was missing. The lead character was boring no insights. This is a total miss don’t listen to it. Chapter 34 missing is a build up to the love of her life and their finally meeting.

Very poor Narrator

Due to the poor quality of the recording, the lack of annunciation and differentiation between the characters, this was incredibly difficult to understand. I gave up trying to re-listen to parts and just let it go, having no clue what was said or who said it. The story itself was weak as well.

The narration is inAUDIBLE

I have enjoyed Keith's stories but the narrator here has a speech impediment or faulty denfures. Sorry I lost my credit! I tried to get a refund but Audible customer service is the worst . if I could afford it I would try the Kindle edition but these are the times that are tough.

Terrible Audio Quality Huge Cast of Characters

Extremely poor audio quality and inconsistent narration. Save your money and skip this one. I've listened to several Judy Leigh books and this is the one to miss. With the poor narration, it's hard to know the huge cast of characters, because much is missed due to narration. Not worth your time or money.
