Publisher's Summary

Cyrene Strohm is a Queen's Affiliate, a high-ranking official of the court of Byern, with power and privilege to spare. But she's also a keeper of dangerous secrets: like the fact that she holds the heart of the King, and that she possesses magic in a world where magic no longer exists. Determined to discover what this means and how to use her newfound abilities, Cyrene sets off for the distant land of Eleysia, an island nation where Affiliates are strictly forbidden from entering. But the journey is perilous, and the destination may mean utter ruin, as Cyrene comes to learn that everything she's been told her whole life - about her court, her homeland, and even herself - are bound in a beautiful lie.

Eh

this one was not as good as the first one in my opinion. and why are we not talking about 'his' magic and that she should recognize she only wanted the brothers because she was bound to them? instead of feeling confused over which boy to pick she should be mad that he tricked her, that he sent creatures to kill her! I saw where the last book is all about him and I'm just kinda too annoyed with her about the whole thing to deal with them two just yet.
narrator is amazing, until you hear the breath after every sentence. then you can't unhear it...

It should've been part of book one.

I was happily surprise the story moved a whole lot more than the first book, it is still slow but it has improved. It could have been easily part of the first book if only they had edited the first book in a way to chop those insignificant chapters we had from minor character's POV in book one and two. I'll admit I'm intrigued and I need to know how this story ends.

love it!

The narrator did a great job and it was easy for me to switch back and forth between reading and listening to this tale. I finished it in one day. I love the adventure and trials of the main characters. Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Conflicted feelings...?

What did you like best about The Bound? What did you like least?

It started all well however it seems like the author is trying to drag the story by waiving to many plots that it kind of make no sense at all. Its clear that Cyrhine has a clear objective but easy trails of it by going boy crazy and she so easily falls in love??? I know she is young but come on....

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

the ending was very confusing and it was clear cliff hanger so lets see what the next book bring hope it doesn't go down hill

Was The Bound worth the listening time?

IT was ok. but I rushed the last chapters it was getting on my nerves...

Recommended to those who like YA and Fantasy...

I would recommend this book to those who like YA and Fantasy. Cyrene is a young, beautiful, smart and full of life girl. In her innocents she wants nothing more than to serve her country as an Affiliate. Once she gets the position she finds out that many things she had been taught in the past are not as they appear to be. I enjoyed the journey is took to understand wants happening to her.

I must say that I am happy her character is strong and is able to do what is best for herself. I am happy she never truly became the Kings mistress. I look forward to book 3. I am on team Cyrene, I hope at the end of the day, she will find someone who is available, who can love and cherish her because she is more than worth it.
