Publisher's Summary

A hot, funny brother’s best friend rom-com...with sugar on top!

She's his best friend's little sister. He's known her all his life. He's practically part of the family.

There is nothing either of them could do to surprise the other at this point. Then, she showed up in his bedroom in lingerie and asked him to take her V-card.

Okay, that was a surprise.

Aiden is pretty sure Zoe was equally surprised when he told her no.

To say that he didn't handle it well would be a massive understatement. Almost as massive as the amount of work he's going to have to do now to convince her that he wants her. Forever.

Right after he tells her that he's bought the company that's her bakery’s biggest competitor.

Maybe, if he tells her he’s in love with her first, that will help sugarcoat the whole we're-rivals-in-business-now thing. So, first "I'm in love with you", then "take off your clothes", then "I'm now your business adversary".

Sure. Piece of cake.

Loved story & narration

I loved this small town romance story written by author Erin Nicholas. She did a great job as always with her storytelling and I love the characters she develops. I really enjoyed Aiden and Zoey and their history together. I loved the witty dialogue, humor and their sexy times that include food. I loved Aiden’s dirty talk, Zoey’s sassiness and the friendships throughout this book. Narrators Jason Clarke and Lili Valente did a wonderful job with their performances and brought the characters and story to life.

Great book

I have been looking forward to this series and this book didn’t disappoint. Zoe and Aiden grew up together since he is her brother’s best friend and essentially a part of her family. At some point they started to look at each other as more than friends. Aiden moves back to their small town, where Zoe runs a bakery, and is all in to get Zoe. The main issue between them...him and his partners bought Hot Cakes, the company that has been part of the family feud for 2 generations. This was a fun book and am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

Eh..

Well the good news is, Jason Clarke was great, as usual. I’m not a Lili Valente fan, so... The story was, okay. Nothing special. Sucked me in but left me wondering why I bothered to finish it.

Perfect narrators for this sweet sexy story

This book has the perfect blend of sweet and sexy with only a small bit of angst. Aidan and Zoe’s love story has all the feels. It’s the classic brother’s best friend story with a bunch of extras thrown in to make it so much more - small town, cute successful family bakery, a previous no to Zoe’s request for Aidan to take her v-card, Aidan’s purchase of the business owned by Zoe’s family’s sworn enemies/family recipe stealers, and so many delays by Aidan to tell Zoe the second reason he has returned to their hometown. Sprinkled throughout this beautifully paced story of Aidan and Zoe’s HEA, there are also a number of secondary characters introduced in this first book of this new series. Rather than being overwhelming or detracting from the main love story, these characters are central to the unfurling of Aidan and Zoe’s dance of love and passion. We learn enough about who the secondary characters are along with just enough of their stories so that they’re fully developed characters in their own right and definitely make me excited to hear what happens next for Hot Cakes and in the town of Appleby. With Sugarcoated, Erin Nicholas once again proves she’s a fantastic storyteller and Jason Clarke and Lili Valente bring Aidan and Zoe wonderfully to life. And I may never look at a cream filled cupcake the same again.

Hot Cakes Series

Sugarcoated (Hot Cakes, Book 1) gives you a blended mix of bittersweet vibes. I enjoyed every minute of the audio. I loved getting Aiden and Zoey's history together and the sweet treats too. A romantic comedy with humor and laughter, great chemistry and characters. Jason Clarke, Lili Valente dual naration performance encompasses the characters perfectly. Jason Clarke's deep gravelly inflection is always wonderful to listen to. Lili's sweet and smooth tone is exciting to listen to. Together these two work together wonderfully. A entertaining listen.

Sweet & Yummy!

Jason and Lili make the magic happen! They are my favorite audio duo! I can never get tired of listening to these two. Sugarcoated is a mix and sweet and sour...the perfect blend! Zoe and Aiden are cute and I knew they were kismet. This story gave me exactly what I needed. Light hearted and romance wrapped together. There is a sprinkle of drama and a few tumbles along the way. But that makes a great recipe for a fun story to read!

Such fun

This is a friends to lovers story with complications, not least of which is that Zoe is the younger sister of Aiden’s best friend, Cam. Oh and did I mention he just brought the company that is Zoe’s bakery’s biggest competitor and he refused to take Zoe’s virginity? The chemistry between Aiden and Zoe was intense and hot. It wouldn’t be an Erin Nicholas novel without humour and laughter and this just added to my overall enjoyment of the book with numerous laugh out loud moments.   Sugarcoated ticked all the boxes for me and is a great example of RomCom at it’s finest. Erin Nicholas has a way with words that quickly draws you in and keeps you captivated from the first to the last page. The chemistry between the narrators Jason Clarke and Lili Valente really brought the story to life for me. There was nothing I didn’t like about Sugarcoated, I loved everything about the characters and the story and I am excited to read the next book in the series.

Funny and awesome

This book is funny and interesting right from the get-go. I love the premise. And the cocky hero with a strong heroine with this undeniable attraction is awesome. This book is in third person, but don't let that deter you if you, like me, don't love third person. It flows wonderfully and makes the audio a little bit easier to follow. The narration is top-notch. I always love Lili and Jason. If you like small-town romantic comedy, Lili Valente, Delancey Stewart, Lucy Score - this book is for you!

Fantastic

This is such a fantastic book, I loved the second chance aspect of it and add in the best friends little sister aspect and this is like my catnip. Strong characters, which leap off the page with their individuality and personality. This story has plenty of chemistry and kept me entertained and definitely desperate for the next one. Such amazing narration as well, there was clear distinction between the characters which added a wonderful layer to the story.

Book 1

Second chance romance. I really enjoyed this book. The story and characters are great! I like when the epilogue gets you ready for the next book in the series and I believe that’s what just happened here. Aiden is Zoe’s brothers best friend. Old family feud is stopping things from progressing. The narration was great! I definitely recommend this book. 🎧Audiobook Obsession
