Publisher's summary

On the 10th anniversary of a profound loss, comedian Michael Cruz Kayne felt compelled to describe his feelings of grief in 140 characters or less. Much to his surprise, more than 200,000 people responded in solidarity from all corners of the globe. Overwhelmed by the response, the Late Show with Stephen Colbert writer and host of A Good Cry created Sorry for Your Loss, a sidesplitting, heartrending look at life—and death. This powerfully personal production, recorded live from the Minetta Lane Theatre, cuts through the platitudes, directly reaching out to anyone who has ever experienced loss—or will. So...everyone.

Now available in Dolby Atmos on Audible.

So real and so perfectly what we need to hear sometimes. Just to get through the mud in our thoughts.

For anyone who is grieving

Amazing balance between laughter and sadness. Wish I could share it with my mom, who experienced a similar loss. The cussing doesn’t bother me, but she wouldn’t like that part.

Genuine

Took me a bit to connect but when I did, I appreciated the humor and sadness. Sincere emotion, humor and story.

So, So, So, Lovely. So Beautiful. So Funny.

I stumbled into "Sorry For Your Loss" when looking for a new listen. There are a few things I think you should know about this work.

One, it is so, so funny. Michael is "smart funny." If you like "smart funny," you already know what I mean. His delivery is REALLY good, and his wit is spot-on.

Two, it's a little sad, which is saying something when a show is about the saddest thing ever. My mother died at her mother's funeral and I thought THIS was the saddest thing ever. And, maybe it is. But it is also the lives of this family, and this family feels like they're doing things right by loving each other and laughing with each other.

Three, it's the kind of listen where you just need to strap in and trust Michael. It's worth it. He reminds me of Mike Birbiglia in his storytelling. He weaves the tapestry of the story in a nearly magical way. I loved the little explosions of humor, like when he is talking about the stories that people have shared with him - one of which the child is well and healthy now, and his response is, "Bro, get the fuck out of here; that's not what we are doing here." It made me tear up in that way where you cry because you are so grateful that there are people in this world who speak the truth about grief, even when it's hilarious.

I know grief, just like you know grief. We all know it in our own way, through our own lens. And there were many times during this 90 minutes or so when I felt like Michael and I have a similar lens. This is a beautiful, sad story told by a father who decided to keep living in the face of deep grief. Thank you, Michael. Let's totally be friends and talk about how sad and funny grief is.

I'm sorry too....every day.

After losing my sister to breast cancer just a year ago...this was a refreshing and confirming audible! It's difficult to make it days without crying out maybe even not thinking of her. And then the guilt sets in. I have thought of grief as ocean waves and now this makes sense. THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
