Let me explain the negative reviews

There are three types of negative reviews. The two that have merit but shouldn’t dissuade you from this play/book are the complaints about the extra noises and volume and that there is some disturbing imagery. The thrust of most of the complaints is about the second act and/or the book having “no point.” That’s ridiculous. Even if you don’t agree with the author’s point of view, it’s well done and provocative.

The sounds and noises are too loud and distracting I found that first Act was less believable than the second. The Act is supposed to be from the perspective of the middle aged wealthy white woman. I didn’t notice if a man or woman wrote this book. But less than a quarter of the way in, I figured it was a man. The woman’s ideas and feelings toward sex and relationships did not add up in my experience. I almost gave up but the story is intriguing. The second Act felt spot on to me. I think the character’s perspective was captured and it helped answer questions from the first Act.

A solid and original story

I found the story fascinating. I see a fair amount of theater and I can relate to the power and draw of an amazing and original performance. Original and interesting. Solid performance by the reader.

Great story and amazing performance! One of the best short books on audible. Feels like theatre performance.

Not sure why this has bad reviews

I loved it and will be listening again. The random sounds make this so cool to listen to. I was immersed all the way through.

Great Story line

I found each character interesting. The story line kept me listening.
Tragic characters you can identify with. I enjoyed how Ruth and Magda’s paths crossed.

I Just Don’t Know

There’s probably something I’m not getting. It was good but it wasn’t. I did not get the end. This obviously had a point that was over my head. Philosophical, artsy I’m not sure how to describe this. The narration was incredible.

This book was a shock. I anticipated none of it and enjoyed all of it.

I’m not sure. It was interesting, thought provoking, gross and annoying. The performances were excellent but the storyline is one that you have to hear it to know if it is for you…

This one made me think. I enjoyed the different perspectives too. Performance was great! I listened straight through.
