DR AZIZ NAILS IT!

What about Dr. Aziz Gazipura’s performance did you like?

Dr. Aziz is personable and easy to listen to. He makes you feel like he actually cares and genuinely wants to help people. Dr. Aziz also has a fantastic website that offers other videos and programs if you like the material in the book and want to take it the next step. He also puts on events in the Portland area I am actually planning to attend spring of 2016. I'll update this review afterwards. In my opinion if you are going to buy just one book or audiobook on the subject of social anxiety and how to kick anxiety's butt then this is the book for you!

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Solution to Social Anxiety: Break Free from the Shyness That Holds You Back?

I have been to a therapist and tried CBT and it really didn't work that well for me. This book has already done more for me than the 9 months of CBT.

The Best Book on Social Anxiety !!!

If you could sum up The Solution to Social Anxiety: Break Free from the Shyness That Holds You Back in three words, what would they be?

This is the Best book I have read or listen to on Social Anxiety. The Author also is the Narrator and you can feel his passion in his words. He breaks it down to simple terms to how to deal with your social anxiety so simple it almost makes you laugh.

What does Dr. Aziz Gazipura bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love his passion. you can hear it in his voice.

I was really skeptical at first, BUT....

This book has genuinely changed my life. I'm not that old, only a Freshman in college, but anxiety has really started to squeeze the lif out of me. When I was younger, I used to love school. I'd talk non-stop, I was that class clown, and had many friends. Then a switch flipped in high school. All of a sudden I was scared, ashamed of myself as a person, constantly obsessed with what the older kids thought of me. I had many girls express interest in me, but I ended up avoiding them, afraid they would reject me (even after they made the first and hardest step!). I was determined to change this year, and Dr. Aziz's book helped so much. The length looks daunting, but it feels short if you're determined. Have an open mind, let your pain drive you to change. I hope you truely listen and practice these exercises. Good luck and thanks to Dr. Aziz for help me break the chains of Anxiety.

Aziz has been there & lived it. But, not what I expected.

Aziz is likable to listen to. He does a great job narrating. He covers all the social anxiety situations. He brings you right up to line of action.
Qualify by comments by saying I am 64 yrs. old, but still fighting the big corporation work battle every day. For me, I hoped the book would prepare me with tools to use when you are in those social situations. Then, armed with those tools, I would be more comfortable, even very comfortable in such interactions with people. So, Aziz gets you into meeting someone new or in a group setting, after the first pleasantries, what do you talk about? Apparently, that is in other books. What are the best topics to get conversations going? What do males verses females like to talk about? Different age groups? What able creating Charisma? We know the Dale Carnegie material. Sometimes, I am keeping a minimal conversation going, but I am bored out of my mind. And, I don't want to bore others with interests of mine if it is not their cup of tea. When it's something we share in common, it's easy. So what are tools I can use for everyone?

Excellent book! Enthusiastic and authentic narration!

Dr. Aziz did a phenomenal job presenting proven methods to overcome shyness / social anxiety disorder (social phobia). Given his personal history of he having overcome social phobia, his account is very authentic. The book being read by the author makes it even more impacful. This is a great book for shy women and shy men, and is also an excellent resource for counselors to recommend to their patients, as part of bibliotherapy for shyness. Worth checking also the classic "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie and "Painfully Shy" by Barbara Markway.

Thanks Dr. Aziz!

Inspirational, Insightful and Practical

Through his studies, research, personal experience and application in therapy sessions with his clients, Dr. Aziz has developed a systematic method of developing self-love, quieting the inner critic and overcoming social anxiety. Dr. Aziz himself suffered for many years from debilitating social anxiety. When you hear him speak about social anxiety, you hear genuine empathy; the kind of empathy that can only be gained through suffering. And when you hear him tell you that's it's possible to overcome social anxiety and develop a deep sense of confidence, you truly believe him.

...because he is living proof that it can be done.

Should have been titled, "Advice for Hitting on Women"

Not much on social anxiety. Unless you match the author's struggles with picking up women, and are in your early 20's, I wouldn't buy this book.

Seems like very solid and relevant advice!

I don't think I suffer much from social anxiety. It is my wife who struggles a lot with this issue. So I am listening to learn some tips that I might be able to share with her. Maybe I will even persuade her to read the book. But meanwhile I am learning a few things that might be helpful to me as well. I think this book really does a good job of exploring the underlying issues that are usually at the heart of social anxieties. I feel that if a person actually followed some of the advice in this book, it would almost certainly prove helpful. This is good stuff. The author makes it easy to understand, even though I'm sure there is actually quite a bit of complex scientific study behind a lot of this simple-sounding advice. I'm especially impressed with the author's excellent reading of his own book. He has a great voice for it, and gives it a reading that is compassionate, lively and conversational. It would be hard for even a professional reader to manage a reading that would feel so fluid, natural, and sincere.

Used a free credit to get this book. It sucks.

What would have made The Solution to Social Anxiety: Break Free from the Shyness That Holds You Back better?

If you have struggled with anxiety and shyness and tried to get rid of those, then you would have already done everything this book says. Nothing new or surprising. The book is only filled with stories of other sufferers. Stories that many people could easily relate to. That's it. No convincing "solution" to be seen/heard from this book. I suggest that you should just put yourself in more uncomfortable social situations and eventually you will get used to it. Avoid this book. :)

Any additional comments?

A must for sufferers of Social Anxiety & Shyness!

Picked this book up after suffering from Social Anxiety and depression for as far back as I can remember. That's a lot of pain in 43 years !

Following the exercises and taking on board all the advice has helped me overcome a particularly difficult time in my life ! I no longer fear meeting new people or become overwhelmed in crowds or endure the constant abuse of my 'Self Critic!'

This has been my Anxieties silver bullet ! I really hope it works for you to !

Thank you 😊

Made see see things a lot clearer then i did befor

Where does The Solution to Social Anxiety: Break Free from the Shyness That Holds You Back rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Not listened to many before but definatly recommend if you think you may have social anxiety

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Some scenes when Dr Aziz is telling back scenarios of real life discussions he had with clients with SA made me laugh out loud, but they all really struck a cord with similar feelings i have had, so it was easy to relate.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Be prepared to see change your perspective on things - maybe not of life as a whole - but see things a little differently.

Solution?! Made me feel worse!

What disappointed you about The Solution to Social Anxiety: Break Free from the Shyness That Holds You Back?

It was nonsense. Cliched and incredibly patronising.

What was most disappointing about Dr. Aziz Gazipura, PsyD’s story?

The entire story basically.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Narrator was OK really, but the actual material was so bad.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Errr...well...the cover is nice. I guess.

Any additional comments?

Sorry, I hate to be rude but this was a total waste of my money and my time. Social anxiety is such a terrible terrible thing, but this sort of book is no use at all - if anything this almost makes me feel worse :(

What a waste of my time :(

What disappointed you about The Solution to Social Anxiety: Break Free from the Shyness That Holds You Back?

Repeated info, read a million times before. Nothing new. Same old stuff from years ago.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Solution to Social Anxiety: Break Free from the Shyness That Holds You Back?

The whole book needs rewritten in my opinion with all the new studies we have into social anxiety. This felt out dated.

Very little help at all

What would have made The Solution to Social Anxiety: Break Free from the Shyness That Holds You Back better?

I a more human approach. it felt too clinical and not very true to real life.

Has The Solution to Social Anxiety: Break Free from the Shyness That Holds You Back put you off other books in this genre?

A little bit yes :( I just wanted help with my social anxieties.

Any additional comments?

I just fond it too clinical, too unrealistic, too far removed from what life is REALLY like to be of any real use. Felt a bit old fashioned too, doesn't feel like something for 2016.

Do not bother with this if you are not a man

Written entirely from a male perspective for males.
The author makes a poor attempt to explain why in the beginning - for “ease” and “clarity”.
It doesn’t strike me as difficult to change he/him pursuing she/her to they/them. Poor excuse.
I got through a couple of chapters but couldn’t stand the brazen male-centric language and had to can it.

If I’d bought this in hard copy I would have returned it.

Amazing

This book has been wonderful . I didn't even know help existed for this type of fear. It opened my eyes to how much I hold myself back and don't live a full life. I'm so excited to start trying all the tools I have learned to overcome this type of anxiety. Highly recommended.

immediate relief from social anxiety

I am 30 years old and have struggled within social anxiety for as long as I can remember, although I wasn't diagnosed until early last year. This audio book was the first direct attempt to address this issue since finding out and I have already noticed an improvement. This audio book gave me an understanding of what my anxiety is, what has caused it and how to move past it. Those aspects alone has made it worth every penny. 10/10 would recommend.

Something I'll listen to again and again

This audio book was very good. I added so many bookmarks of parts I want to relisten to. There's links to free templates to help go through some exercises.

The narration was of a high standard. There's nothing better than hearing something as read by the author.
