Best self help book I've ever read.

Will have to listen to the book a second time as there is a lot to digest. The research presented reveals that its more useful to act as if and shift your behaviour - rather than trying to think your way out of undesirable situations. Thinking follows behaviour and emotions follow thinking.

Wise words

Having read a hell of a lot of these kind of books, including Richard Wisemans other work some of the anecdotes, studies become familiar classics. Having worked with troubled individuals for twenty years I was not keen on having my beliefs destroyed by Richards book. As it happened I think they complimented and confirmed much of the work I already did despite disagreeing on why it worked. This and his other work I highly recommend. Definitely worth a listen if not a read.

ACT

Hundreds of examples proving inconclusively that "if you ACT you will feel."

William James 100 year old theory is the first (and probably the only) theory to follow.

"Behaviour causes emotion" William James. Forget trying to get emotion right first. Just Act as if by lifting shoulders & smiling when thinking of stuff. This will bring happy thoughts.

Procrastination. "Just ACT as if you like the activity." Pull the activity towards you. ACT AS IF YOU WILL ENJOY IT.

If you want a quality, ACT as if you already have it. "Act and you will feel".

Exercise is worth doing. Just do the first step.

"Stand up. Shoulders back. Smile." Forget all other mind control techniques inc PMA etc

The book is a bit boring as there are seemingly millions of examples which prove beyond doubt that William James is the man.

Quite disappointing

Would you try another book written by Richard Wiseman or narrated by Peter Noble?

I have read some of Wiseman's other books, which is why I expected more from this one.

What was most disappointing about Richard Wiseman’s story?

It was thin IMO, a few bits of good information, but far too much pointless fluff, and stuff that has been covered elsewhere, I'd certainly recommend to anyone that they read the '59 seconds' book over this one.

Do you think Rip It Up needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, it was bad enough getting through this one.

Any additional comments?

Felt like a book that didn't really need to be written, maybe his publisher was on his back for new material?

Hopefully he can bring out something good in the future, as I have very much enjoyed his previous works.

Ok. Seems to be going over a lot of old ground

Enjoyed it but if you read/listen to pop. psychology books you'll probably be familiar to a lot of the ideas already. How long can these books can keep referencing the prison experiment!

Brilliant book

This is an outstanding listen and turns conventional wisdom on its head. Have tried some of the techniques and they certainly work! Strongly recommend
