Publisher's Summary

For over 20 years, psychologist Professor Richard Wiseman has examined the quirky science of everyday life.

In Quirkology, he navigates the backwaters of human behavior, discovering the telltale signs that give away a liar, the secret science behind speed dating and personal ads, and what a person's sense of humour reveals about the innermost workings of their mind - all along paying tribute to others who have carried out similarly weird and wonderful work.

Wiseman's research has involved secretly observing people as they go about their daily business, conducting unusual experiments in art exhibitions and music concerts, and even staging fake seances in allegedly haunted buildings.

With thousands of research subjects from all over the world, including enamoured couples, unwitting pedestrians, and guileless dinner guests, Wiseman presents a fun, clever, and unexpected picture of the human mind.

Loved it!

Witty, entertaining and filled full of must-share facts.

I've read fairly widely in this area of psychology - this book is particularly well done. Great narration and fascinating information makes it a must read

Fascinating

A great book to dip in and out of, full of interesting and well explained facts. I am now fully equipped to go to dinner parties and share my fascinating knowledge. (Now all I need is to be invited to a dinner party. Someone write a book to help me with this please.)

Just enough to keep you listening...

I don't remember feeling there was much new stuff there, in terms of the conclusions drawn from various experiments and anecdotes.

I also felt that the jump to stating things as facts was too often made without enough proof, leaving me questioning the validity of those statements.

This is for anyone who is interested why we behave and act as what we do. I could not stop listening to it.

A real eye opener to the way our mind works

Would you listen to Quirkology again? Why?

Yes, so much interesting stuff in the book that a 2nd or 3rd pass will be needed and probably a few listens in the future

What did you like best about this story?

Interesting how our mind filters stuff

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

All in all very good BUT, whilst I thought the narration was OK, the narrator should of held off trying to put accents on to reflect the research works country of origin.

What a great and entertaining listen!

Thoroughly enjoyable listen, highly interesting and quirky facts abound in this book, occasionally causing me to grin in humour at the state of the human being. I highly recommend this Audiobook as narration is done in a very easy manner and is easy on the ear. The facts and stories are put together greatly and will surely surprise you.

Enjoyable way to pass time

An enjoyable listen for when you're driving or on the train. Lots of interesting studies and learning about typical patterns of human behaviour might have you laughing and/or slapping your head. Every time I had a listen it provided me with interesting topics of conversation... dog poo jumpers, measuring walking speed, stealing from a bank.
