This book is full of tips, techniques, and stories that will give you an inside look at what it means to have Asperger's. You will come away inspired and with a new understanding of how to communicate more effectively with those you love!
Here's what you'll learn in this guide to Asperger's:
Understanding Asperger's is the key to a happier and healthier relationship between you and your loved one. If you're concerned about someone you care about, or possibly even yourself, you owe it yourself to listen to this book!
I was really looking for a book on Asperger’s syndrome that is more focused on Aspie adults, but the info was, nonetheless, good. I appreciated the clarification on syndrome versus disease, & that an NT can have a satisfying relationship with a person with Asperger’s.
This book is wrtten for a brand new parent. The author tries to generalize it, but totally misses the mark. The author clearly has no business tacking this topic. As a parent, spouse, and brother-in-law of three aspergers victums, this book holds no value.
it's been said, children aren't born with manuals. Thanks to this book, I can understand and focus on my 11yr old son's strengths and work with him on his communication and reading body languages with the tips and pointers from this book.
I've read quite a few books on Aspies to better learn how to raise a healthier happier little angel. Sara's audio book (which is also available in paperback and Kindle format) complements previous books just by listening to this.
Bottom line, very good read or listen for anyone living with someone with Asperergers herein now referred to as Autism On The Spectrum as of just a couple of years ago.
i am at the beginning just starting to learn and understand this.. its well written but nearly sooo much common sense that i didn't learn much. good first read for those of us just starting down this path
Very high level, abstract thoughts and concepts... Kept saying that everyone is diffrent and that asperegers can not be defined to any one symtpom. Granted that the syndrome is psychological and most psychologist are afraid to putting the stick inhe sand, due to being exposed to ability, but... certainly wish that the author could give back the hour plus of time I just wasted.
Not wortht the time
Clear, well informed, insightful, helpful, and compassionate. I recommend it, it's the best in the subject matter.
This brief book is valuable for people that don't know very much about aspbergers, but does also offer a few good insights for those who are more informed. I listened to this book as a parent and definitely found that it was a worthwhile effort and plan to use some of the suggestions or insights offered.
Very very basic. I did not get what I was looking for. I wanted strategies and a deeper understanding of Asperger. It is very basic.
The narrator seemed lackluster and the book pretty much fired data at you, with no humor or anecdotal whimsy, like a textbook. The anecdotes used to illustrate the data were dry and forgettable. I have Asperger’s and can confirm the data as accurate, however.
You can find most of the information on the web, and is mostly dealing with kids.
