Publisher's Summary

From the universe of the Until the End of the World series

Book two of The City Series is here! (Note: The City Series can be heard before or after the Until the End of the World series)

Months into the apocalypse, the zombies show no signs of dying, but it's clear everyone in Sunset Park will die without enough food to outlast the undead. Add in the less-than-sociable new neighbors only blocks away, and the hunt for sustenance has come to feel more like a race than a ramble.

Sylvie is happy in her new home with the people who've become like family, though she's still working out how to let them into her heart. Eric wants in, and he wants to find his sister, but he can't do both at the same time. If he can do the second one at all - getting into the city was hard enough, getting out may prove impossible.

Despite setbacks - and a couple million zombies - it seems fortune is working in their favor. After all, food, security, and family are extraordinary when just being alive is a notable accomplishment. But fortune can turn on a dime, and all it takes is one misstep.

Fix the audio!

I love the author and I love her books but changing the way the narrators read it for this book was really jarring and it’s subpar to the first book. Keep all the ladies read by Therese and all the men by Luke. The worst was Leo who seemed years different in age depending on who read him. Sylvie and Eric both were not captured well by the opposite genders, it’s like they didn’t even listen to each other’s portrayals. Not sure why it was changed but it was a huge fail and disappointment.

Ready for the next book

I hope the next book is written and ready to go, I’m so ready for it! I don’t think that liking or disliking zombies really matter much when listening to this book, actually all the books she’s written. You get so involved with knowing, loving or maybe disliking the characters (not too many to dislike), that you want them to do whatever it takes to survive. As I listened I could picture so much in my mind, Ms Fleming does a awesome job of making everything so real. Hope there’s a new book soon!! This book could be for any YA thru senior...I’m 67yrs old!

Anticipation overwhelmed

Easily one of the best zombie series ever written. The author actually takes the time to insert you directly into the relationships and feelings of the stories main characters. You will see what they see and feel as they feel, it is an end of the world scenario like no other. Don’t miss out on this one.

Humor, Zombies and Some Romance

I was very impressed with the first book in the series, and equally impressed with the second. There was a moment where I was saying to myself, wait .. this is a romance book .. what am I doing listening to a chick lit offering. But throw in some apocalypse adventure and a little humor and deep relationship commitments and it looks like I am on board full throttle.

The third book in the series has yet to be published so I did a little research on the author and found out there are related books from the same world focusing on the lost sister of Eric Forrest - Cassie. I will now have to find out if her story will match the intensity of the incredible main protagonist, Sylvie in this City Series.

Eric and Sylvie got some bad news in this book when looking for Cassie. It looked like she did not make it. Now I will find out for sure in the "Until the End of the World" series.

I will not reveal much of the plot - it is more fun to just let this good book unfold. But, be prepared for some heartbreak - not all of the main characters make it to the end.

It was okay!

The story itself was decent but Sylvie's character got on my last nerve. I didn't like the way they switched up the narration. In the first book the woman read all the female parts and the man read all the male part which really gets you engaged. This book the female read everything in the Sylvie chapters. If there is a third book I hope they do the narration the way they did in the first on.

Sadly.....do not love the male narrator:(

Sadly....the narrator Luke Daniels ruined this book for me. At many times while listening I almost returned this first & second book, but had to power through. Luke Daniels had a rough time even getting into this storyline & it really showed through his readings. I will not listen to any more books narrated by him. However, I really have enjoyed this series & the plot is very consuming. Sarah Lyons Fleming is a wonderful author with great character building qualities. If only Therese Plummer narrated for the entirety of this series, all would be well:)

Change in narration from first book throws you off

Would you try another book from Sarah Lyons Fleming and/or Therese Plummer and Luke Daniels ?

Yes, I enjoy the authors writing style and will continue to listen to her books. However, the change in the narration style from the first book is very disappointing. The narrators were great in the first book. Therese did all of the female voices and Luke did all of the male voices. In this book, They were really able to bring each character to life with individual personalities. In this second book, Therese does ALL of the voices for the Sylvie chapters and Luke does ALL of the voices fro the Eric chapters. The inconsistency is very distracting and throws off the ability to get lost in the story.

What did you like best about this story?

I like ve pst apocalyptic stories and the humanity of people coming together in difficult situations

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Therese Plummer and Luke Daniels ?

I think they do a good job narrating the characters of their own gender and the book would have been better if the narration was done the same as in book one.

Story was good, wasn't particular on the narration

I did like it better when the guys in the story were read by a guy and the women read by the woman like the previous book.

loved it 👍

Loved all the books in this series and the end of the world series. Brilliant, compelling story that had me gripped from the start and blubbering and laughing at different parts. The only series of books that I sometimes rewound a bit just to drag it out a bit!
I can't wait for episode 3, but I'll have to wait a few months so no idea how I'll cope without the brilliant characters that I grew so fond of and who I'll miss until the next time 😢

I'm in love with this author and her zombies!

After having listened to all of the "Until the End of the World" books, I was thrilled when I found out that Sarah Lyons Fleming was writing a new series that is set in the
Until the End of the World universe but with diffrent characters (You don't have to have read UTEOTW in order to understand and follow Mordacious).

Both Mordacious and Peripeteia are wonderfully written,it takes place in NYC and there is never a dull moment and you can't help but fall in love with the characters. I have laughed out loud and sobbed like a baby listening to Peripeteia! It's a must for any Apocalyptic fan, you'd be crazy not to read it!

Can't wait for book 3!!!

Awsome second part

If you've gotten this far then it's because you love both the series. I'll never tire listening to them. The performances in the other books are outstanding, and the characters are always just so compelling. No one is without point or reason.

I have one complaint in the entire of these series, why change the vocal performance format? It was perfect in the first book of this series and to go from that to this was cringey. I got over it, i preferred the woman's version than the male doing female voices. I just don't see why there was a change.

Luke Daniels and Therese Plummer 5☆

WoW. It just keeps getting better and better. It just blows me away how the story unfolds this stationary side of the bridges! I find my self sitting stark still and holding my breath or groaning and whispering at my phone when my ear buds are on reacting to whichever part of the narration I’m at... or which has happened, sat somewhere or walking through the shops laughing like a loon at a bit I just can't hold in or I've totally lost myself in the book. That's as good and as it gets for me... I’m immersed completely in the book. I loved it!!!

Book 2 narration is poor

What didn’t you like about Luke Daniels and Therese Plummer ’s performance?

Performance of their opposite sex characters!

Love the story but it is ruined by the narrators’ performance.

Why the format of the readers was changed in Book 2? Why not stick to the same format of Book 1, where the female narrator reads for all female characters and the male narrator does the same for all male characters. It worked really well in Book 1 but a pity that was not consistent for Book 2.
Must admit that from Chpater 3 onwards, I lost the interest to continuing with this book .... very hard going as the performance for each characters except that of Erick and Sylvie, is so poor....

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Great story it is!

Any additional comments?

When is book 3 due? And for the sake of the ‘City book series’, stick to the narrators’ format of Book 1!

Brilliant

Love this series of books. The books are so much more than about Zombies, human nature in the raw and how people live when society breaks down. More please.
