Publisher's summary

In the zombie apocalypse, your worst enemy may be yourself.

Rose Winter has enough problems. With a marriage going down the tubes and a dreaded anniversary party on the horizon, the last thing she needs is the zombie apocalypse. She wanted to get drunk and sing karaoke, not murder her undead neighbors. It’s clear the party’s over, however, now Rose has more problems - a missing husband, an overbearing houseguest, and keeping her family alive.

Tom Jensen has inflexible rules. Rule number one? Don’t deviate from the plan. But when his life is overturned in the space of minutes, his plans die along with everything else. The world is finished, the future is uncertain, and survival means living in the last place he’d planned to be. Maybe his rules weren’t meant to be broken, but if he can’t change his tune, he risks losing the one thing he has left - his daughter.

Craig Matthews has a mission: get to Oregon. Doable, maybe, if he could bring himself to leave his apartment. With his food and water near gone and death closer than ever, a chance encounter may lead to finding his friends - if he can first find his courage.

Unfortunately, the new world doesn’t always mean leaving old problems behind, and as the West Coast succumbs to the virus, the survivors face more than the undead - they face themselves. But in an existence where fences offer dubious safety and zombies certain danger, people may save you in more ways than one.

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wondered when I saw this book was available, was it going to be as good as the first two series, how much can you write about zombies and not be repetitious. Well it was different, can’t say better, but new perspective, new characters, if I’m not mistaken where it all began. This the first book in the series was rather mild not a lot of action, more getting to know characters, a rather harrowing journey but no major battles, but I’m sure they are in store, have to wait looking forward for next in the series.
Awesome narration by Roger, Teri, Christian & Mia.

On the road again

I fell in love with the until the end of the World Series for the characters and their stories. I then devoured the city series for the same reason. The cascadia series is set within the same universe, and while a bit slower to start than the others, also proves itself to be worth listening to. The slow start will probably only annoy people who have listened to the aforementioned- purely because it goes through explaining the experience of the “zombie apocalypse “ again.
The biggest problem with the storyline is how the characters luck onto finding food and camping gear etc. it’s all very convenient.
From a perspective of inclusiveness I really loved the time spent talking about sexuality and gender. Such an important topic in today’s society , and while not a focal point of the story - will be so empowering to those who need it, and So educational for those who seek (or not seek) to understand.
I will definitely listen to this series again as I have the other 2 and I can’t wait to hear the next installment. Bravo Sarah.

Zombie Apocalypse?

Wasn’t sure I really would like this book. Grey haired Granny and zombies don’t usually go together. Right? But I love fantasy stories especially during these stressful times. Takes me away from being stuck at home. I loved this book!!! Can’t wait for the sequel. She develops her characters so fully I felt like I knew them. Some humor, some gore, some potential romance. I will definitely go to this author’s other series. Hope they are as good.

I love her characters

I’ve read all the Sarah Lyons Fleming books and this might be my favorite. Maybe as a women in my late 40s, I can relate best to the characters in this book? I’m sad it’s over and can’t wait for the next book!

The Walking Dead?

It is a good story however I feel as if this is a copycat "The Walking Dead" Anyone that watched "The Walking Dead" will wonder if this was a glorified version.
