Publisher's summary

The first prophecy:

Seed of death and dragon's womb, suffering her fated tomb.

She, our savior, the fallen's soul, shall shed her blood to make us whole.

A vengeful darkness she will arise, her love calls forth the darkest tide.

Yet, if her heart has ceased to beat, the world shall eclipse in dark complete.

Pretend Ma told me the terrible things done to me were for the greater good. That I would be a hero and fight for those who can't fight for themselves.

I'm not so sure about that.

I am sure that my time in this world is drawing to a close. I'm okay with that. I even wish for it some days. Then, I meet him. Mr. Glowy Eyes.

I'm also sure I'm a monster, and I'm certain that he's so much worse than that. But he also shows me something important. Very important. Do you want to know what it is?

Are you still waiting? I can't tell you, silly rabbit. Who gives something like that away?

Mr. Glowy Eyes is waiting, too. In the dark....

Under the bed....

I can't promise he won't eat you...but I can promise you won't mind when he does.

Contains mature themes.

Didn’t know what to expect...

OK, so I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book, but I am thoroughly surprised by how much I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone not faint of heart. There are some graphic details of abuse and imprisonment but no explicit rape scenes happen. This is more of a love story than a sexually explicit story. The story begins with your main character in prisoned and her story of a for told destiny that awaits her. She also has a love interest that is also imprisoned with her and also has a destiny of his own. Both main characters are strong and willing to fight for what they believe in. This story contains modern times, different dimensions, magic, as well as, magical beings. It does leave on a cliffhanger but the next book is out already so I’ll be moving on to it.

A bit on the dark side with a splash of humor

I'm so glad I took a chance on this book. It will have you rooting for the supposed bad guy and not feeling bad about it. It is a little on the dark side, but it doesn't really go into a lot of detail. It will also have you laughing out loud in some parts. A perfect mix of good, bad, and ugly.

Like a slow burn.

It started slow but then if you stick with it definitely pulls you in. I would recommend it.

Not What I Expected

The beginning of the story was dragging on quite a bit but afterwards the story picked up and pulled me along. I found myself not caring much for the male lead. The female lead was interesting, strong, bad ass, and funny on her journey saving kids, setting microwaves on fire, and exacting rightful justice.

Storyline and Characters you fall in love with!!

This is one of my absolute FAVORITE books to listen to!! The storyline is easy to follow, the characters personality progression is clear to see and the narrators definitely gave life to their assigned persons and supporting characters!!

Holy crap, Aiden Snow's voice is insane!

So I don't know why it took me so long to pick up this book, I guess I have been on such a RH kick that I hadn't given this one a chance. I am so glad I did. The way Justine and Aiden brought these characters to live was amazing and insane at the same time! I loved how Aiden's voice allowed me to imagine Phobe perfectly in my head, and he made sure his inflections were 100% honest with the character (starts off as more of a robot but with more time with Isa, he starts to feel different emotions and Aiden reflects this change/growth). Justine does a great job with Isa and the other side characters (especially the kids she brings along). I sometimes hope for either a female or male chapter depending on how much I love the voices, but this is one audiobook I loved them both equally (I will say I did shiver everytime there was a Phobe chapter haha).

I loved this story and am dying to get back to Isa and Phobe (have some other audiobooks I need to listen to so I am ready for upcoming releases). I felt for them both in prison and how they slowly let their walls down with each other. I loved how gruesome Zoe gets in this story and how I fall for monsters and am rooting for them haha. I loved Isa's Dad and getting to see her learn her powers. I especially loved the scenes at her family's hotel. Buuuuut I need to see them reunite, its killing me now going right to Book 2. I want them to get together so bad and I know the next book won't disappoint ❤️ Fantastic job Zoe, Justine, and Aiden!!!
