Decent book, but felt a bit off

This book was a bit difficult to get through. It was slow and felt off. It's an interesting story line but it had feeling of just being a bit off - like the author didn't think too much of how different situations would affect the main character, ruby, and her responses to those situations were non existent where they should have been full of emotion. Where her trust of men should have been shattered, it was like nothing of great importance happened. I enjoyed other works from the author so it was disheartening that this was not as good as I expected. I would be interested to know where the story goes, but only if there is some hope that Ruby will grow as a character.

I love Tavia Gilbert as a narrator. It took a minute to get my head into this book with her since she narrated one of my favourite series (by Jeannine frost), and it kept reminding me of the other books (I kept expecting to hear a sexy British accent) - but after a chapter or two I was right into This book.

where is book two?

I enjoyed her since of humor, the story line was fresh .Can't wait to read book two

Concept good but big gaps

The author created an interesting world but the main character is too gullible and angry. There are also too many repeated phrases. A good editor would have tightened things up.

language not to my liking

Is there anything you would change about this book?
I really liked the plot of the story but the language took me aback. It was really mature language (ML). I know we all say these words but with that in mind please don't take it personal. I would NOT have this book in my classroom, so parents judge at your discretion. I'm sure I will read the other books but will only have them on the back burner.

Mixed feeling.

I definitely enjoyed the book and plan to read the rest of them. My only problem with the book which has been tackled by other reviewers is the fact that the main character does tend to whine and it and it gets frustrating when her temper tantrum hinders the unveiling of the story. Other than that, I enjoyed the characters very much. The story moved along at a reasonable pace and didn't really leave me unanswered questions which I liked. the dialogue was very quippy and Joss Whedon like at times. Honestly I can't wait to read the next one.

looking forward to book 2....

i read and listen to alot of books...this is a good series with not alot of sex and so one. Huge cliff hanger so i will be getting book 2 for sure....enjoy

better then I thought it would be

I didn't think that this book would be this good I'm looking forward to the next one to come. so plz finish it fast lol.

a must read

This was an amazing story that still has me captivated to see what happens next.This book is very hard to put down with everything happening to Ruby both paranormally and emotionally. I foresee a sort of love triangle forming between the 3 main characters but who knows. well onto the next book to find out🙂

Better than expected!

I wasn't sure at first since it started off a bit slow, but then it picked up and became riveting!
