Publisher's summary

War is on the horizon.

The Traxx family has lived in peace for more than 75 years. After fleeing the wastelands of Texas, they settled in Colorado to establish a new community among the foothills of the mountains. Despite the problems of the past and the mutations of the present, they are determined to create a society where everyone can prosper.

Varan and Caleb Traxx, abducted by slavers and presumed dead by their family, have survived the impossible journey across the desert to the coastal cities of what used to be California. There, they are sold into slavery and trained as warriors, forced to kill for the entertainment of the crowds who flock to old world stadiums.

In California, Varan meets the slave girl, Freya. Their journey sets into motion events that will forever change the course of Earth's future.

Great conclusion

This one definitely seemed more like fantasy than the others. Lots of action and a great story. Parker always builds a great story & world with amazing characters.
I will recommend this series to friends for a long time. Excellent narration by Sutton as well.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy at no charge by the author, publisher and or narrator.

Good listen

I listened to the first two books, but I wish that the author would just carry on those stories instead of going off at a complete tangent. It took me a while to get into this book but when I did it was enjoyable.

Great listen!

Really great and engaging book from start to finish! This was not my typical genre but it was recommended to me by a friend and I'm so glad they recommended it! Turns out I found a new genre :) Great concept, loved the interesting characters and all their intertwined plot points.

Also great narration by Gregory Sutton! I listen to a lot of audio books and I loved his rendition of the characters and making the words come to life off the page without being distracting. Thank you for letting me become immersed in the world created by the author! I could listen to his narration all day!

Looking forward to exploring more books by Brian Parker and other audiobooks narrated by Gregory Sutton!

Family Feud!

Caleb and Baron Traxx are captured by Slavers. Eventually, they were purchased by Lucas Miller, owner of the stadium. They would become Gladiators, where men fought people and beast in the arena to entertain the populace. Too young to fight, they cleaned out the warrior’s cells and waste buckets, bringing food and water until they were old enough to train. Over time they grew into men and became Gladiators, fighting for the House of Miller. Baron became the Primus, the most skilled warrior in the stable of slaves owned by Lucas. Baron continued to hold animosity in his heart towards the Traxx family. He believed for many years that they would come to rescue him, but they never did. Would he ever be reunited with his family? The Vultures continue to hunt for the Traxx family; to wipe them off the face of the earth. Much bloodshed and misery await the Traxx family. The Vultures are not exempt from destruction either. All leads up to a few twists and turns and an exciting conclusion with The Mother. Stay tuned! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Strong finish

This is a great final book in the series. Honestly I was a bit nervous about different narration for each book, but given the way the three books skip through the Trask family history it works really well since each narrator is the voice of the time period the book takes place in.

I received a copy of this in exchange for a fair review.

Deteriorated into pure fantasy

This third and final book of The Path of Ashes series has completely jumped the tracks. The series started out as passable post-apocalyptic fiction, but this book degraded into pure fantasy. Furthermore, some of the same grammatical errors found in the previous books persisted in this book. The characters, though somewhat compelling and certainly the best aspect of this story, simply cannot save it.

Gregory Sutton's performance is adequate, but it doesn't do much to improve the story.
