Publisher's summary

Thirteen years ago, Vivi LeBrun was sketching a rooster and eating Oreos when she first met - and fell for - her friend's brother, David St. James. Since then, her love for David has only intensified thanks to years of friendship with his family, who rescued her from a lonely, tumultuous childhood. As she travels to Block Island to vacation with the St. James siblings, Vivi daydreams about reuniting with David, hoping he'll finally see her as his soul mate.

After his mother's death, David distanced himself from his siblings, determined to hide a devastating family secret. Now, he's brought a new girlfriend along to his homecoming - one who's pushing for a serious commitment. The last thing he needs on his growing list of problems is his budding attraction to Vivi.

With tensions running high, David's behavior triggers a series of events that might cost him the love he's always taken for granted and Vivi the only real family she's ever known.

So, this just goes on and on and there’s really no story at all. It’s all about David, who took off to Hong Kong 18 months ago, after the death of his mother. He found out his father had been cheating on his sick mother and now hates him. And he promised his mother, before she died, that he wouldn’t tell his GROWN brother and sister about their dad.

There was soooo much drama over that “secret.” When he finally told Vivi you’d have thought he’d just told her that his father was a murderer.

Worse still, was Vivi being so in love with David, since she was 13, but she’s getting all kinds of sexual tingles from Franco and David has his girlfriend there, so he doesn’t have to do without sex. Not a very good hero and heroine as far as I’m concerned.

THAT was enough for me. I just can’t read about other men and women in the MC’s lives. Even though this was a free read and free listen I would have to pass on anymore from this author. I did read Accidentally Hers by Jamie Beck, which I gave only 3 stars to, so I thought I’d give her another chance. Yeah, that didn’t work. Too much angst and way too much drama, but the OW and OM turned me right off.

There was no sex by the time I quit reading, not even a thought of desire, lust, wanting, nothing, but I know there’ll be sex somewhere in this book.

The F-bomb was used 10 times.

As to the narration: Kate Rudd is a wonderful narrator. She reads with emotions and does the males’ voices like they should be done. But, the book just wasn’t worth listening to.

A sweet story

While this novel is a bit heavier than the typical romance novel, I appreciated the depth and the character development. I liked the narrator's voice.

So so worth it!!

Oh this was so good! Vivi has been in love with David since she was 13 years old but he has always seen her like another little sister. Years go by, the friendship grows stronger and her feelings for David deepen. This is a mature story of true love. It was an interesting and powerful story that felt real. It takes you trough so many emotions, from first crush, disappointment, jealousy, passion, heartbreak and finally an amazing happily ever after. The narration was excellent as well. Ms. Rudd made different voices for each character and added emotion and passion to the story. I highly recommend it.

Cute and entertaining

I liked the characters, Vivi reminded me of myself. Art, teaching, spunky, different hair, positive attitude. It was well read by the narrator. The plot line was successful. I could somewhat guess what would happen at the end, but the whole story unfolded well. I soon found myself wanting to know more about what would happen next! It wasn't drawn out, what a great length. The ending is believable!

Love love love this story!!

This is by far my favorite read this summer. The captivating characters had me enthralled from the first chapter to the last! The story flowed well, was well written, easy to follow, realistic, and an emotional roller coaster with an ending all romantics crave. If you are looking for an easy beach read, then check this one out, I think you'll love it too!

Easy Read with Deep Family Secrets

If you could sum up Worth the Wait in three words, what would they be?

Easy Beach Read

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was David. Not only did I love his voice by the narrator, but I feel like we got to know him the best.

Any additional comments?

I wanted to like Vivi as a character, but she was too perfectly imperfect. She was a "stringy lanky blonde?" So she was skinny with blonde hair, which is normally ideal and not a negative. She annoyed me, especially her voice by the narrator. (which, besides this character, I love Kate Rudd as a narrator)
