Publisher's summary

Sophie Dempsey wants to help her sister film a video and then get out of Temptation, Ohio. Mayor Phin Tucker wants to play pool with the police chief and keep things peaceful. But when Sophie and Phin meet, they both get more than they want. Gossip, blackmail, adultery, murder, vehicular abuse of a corpse, and slightly perverse but excellent sex: all hell breaks loose in Temptation as Sophie and Phin fall deeper and deeper in trouble, and in love.

Narrator needs to slow down

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Narrator. So much for relaxing read. She needs to slow down!

If you’ve listened to books by Jennifer Crusie before, how does this one compare?

Other narrator better.

How could the performance have been better?

Slow down!

Funny and sexy

This is one of my favorite books. Wonderful character development and witty dialogue. Just enough mystery to keep things moving. The narrator read a little too fast.

Galloping narration is not great

A review talked of the fast narration and I must agree, Not only fast but the narration lacked intonation. It was almost a monologue which made the book hard to listen to. It takes a lot of concentration to follow the story and I nearly gave up. The narration either improves further into the story or maybe I just got used to it.
It’s an okay story but not great. The book has a cliche happy ending which is a little too sugary sweet for my liking.
I’ll avoid this narrator in the future.

Narrator issues!!!

Let me start out by saying that I LOVE Jennifer Cruisie. However the narrator of this book made it extremely hard to listen to her read the story. I felt like she was racing through the story. It made it seem like the sentences were run on sentences. I almost had to quit listening to the book because of the narration.

A Red Herring Romance ...

Would you listen to Welcome to Temptation again? Why?

Probably not, but only because this is not my favourite audiobook genre. This said, the narrator was EXCELLENT. I have come to realise that the narrators who focus on voice affectation and emotion rather than differentiation are extremely good.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is very funny from start to finish, and because it is set in an small town, it has a quirky retro charm that most mature readers will enjoy.

Which scene was your favorite?

I can speak to favourite scenes, and I can honestly say that the banter between Sophie and Finn is absolutely heartwarming and funny.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh, definitely laugh. It would actually make a great Rom-Com, as the story reads like a cross between Sweet Home Alabama, Bridget Jones' Diary and Jerry McGuire.

Any additional comments?

The overarching theme of the book is the conflict between modern and old-fashioned attitudes towards intimacy, relationships and power. It also hints at the benefits and pitfalls of living in a broken family. All in all, an easy, entertaining read.

Loved everything about it

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook to a friend. I loved everything about it. The story was fast-paced and interesting. The characters were engaging. The romance wasn't terribly mushy; it was sexy, and fun, and hilarious. I loved it

I loved the group interactions. The dialogue was really funny, and the narrator delivered the lines perfectly.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was at the end when Sophie and Phin's mother confronted the

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

“They’ll see and they’ll know and they’ll say,’Why she wouldn’t even hurt a fly.’” “We all go a little mad sometimes.” (Psycho)

Any additional comments?

If you haven't read this book already and you enjoy romantic comedy in any format, then this book is definitely for you. This was the first book that I listened to by Jennifer Crusie and I became an instant fan. I've since listened to all of her books several times over (including this one) and there even better the second time around. This is not a waste of money and you'll listen to it again and again.

Good story spoiled by the Narrator

What did you like best about Welcome to Temptation? What did you like least?

I'm about halfway through this story. I'm enjoying the concept of the story and the plot, however the too fast pace of the Narrator is making it very difficult to follow. The Narrator is good at shifting their voice for male characters, but the female characters and non-character specific dialog is read in a very monotone voice. In the future, I will make a point of avoiding books read by this Narrator.

Would you be willing to try another one of Aasne Vigesaa’s performances?

I've listened to this book several times and always enjoy it. A light read with stand out characters. Jennifer Crusie has a way with dialog that never fails to amuse me.

Slow down narrator

The story was okay. Narration was difficult to get through. There were times when the narrator was reading so fast and sounded like she was rushing to finish the sentence. her voice was not pleasant to listen to either.

Confusing

This may be a better book to read as a hard copy. There were so many characters I couldn't keep track of whole the story line or who the good guys and bad guys were. The story is very thin.
