Publisher's Summary

Dennie Banks is an investigative reporter chasing down the biggest story of her career. Alec Prentice is a government agent working undercover to catch an elusive grifter. When they meet by accident, it’s a case of mistaken identities at first sight. What they don’t mistake is the instant attraction they have for each other, an attraction they’ll do everything in their power to resist - because Dennie thinks that Alec is running interference for her interview subject, and Alec suspects that Dennie is linked to his swindler. As the confusion grows, so do their feelings for each other, and what begins as a romantic comedy of errors may just end in the love affair of a lifetime.

Love Crusie and Dawe -

I love Jennifer Crusie, and Angela Dawe does a superb job narrating the various characters and relaying emotions and sarcasm. I highly recommend this one and quite frankly almost every one of Crusie's books.

Good Entertainment

I love this author and red this book a few years ago. I was glad to listen to it again. A bit on the crazy side but used a credit and thought it was worth it.

Fun and fluffy

The book offers a welcome distraction in a relatively short story. Fun and fluffy but with a enough plot to keep it interesting through to the end.

Dated yet Charming story

I really enjoyed listening to this one. I thought it would be a bit dated - days before cell phones! - but it was still a fun story with some utterly charming characters.

A Farm Boy Thing Going On?

Audible Escape
This author knows how to write, clear, funny, witty pros for a Screwball Comedy. Gads even though this story was written in ‘97, it has been a pure pleasure to hear how well a great author can put words down to entice and entertain her fans! The author’s introduction tells how she decided to write this. I have listened to a couple of this authors books eg Agnes and the Hitman. So when some reviews stated this book was not quite up to par? I could not believe this was the same writer!! This book is fabulously written in pros worth listening to more than once! I will be buying this one. It is a pure and simple tale but it is in the dialogue and not the adventure that is worth my listening time.
I am a huge fan of Ms Dawe with over 100 books she has narrated in my library. This book joins, Julie Garwoods Sweet Talk, the book that introduced me to Ms Dawe marvelous talent. If you like historical romance Do Not miss Hannah Howells Murray series as Ms Dawe Scotts brogue is the best in the business.
This book is so worth the time and credit. I do use the 1.25x speed to match the laughter. Give it a try.

Another Great Crusie Read

I love Jennifer Cruise's books--and this one did not fail to delight. The narration was particularly fun to listen to. The characters were dynamic and came to life through Dawe's performance. A great light read, especially for a Crusie fan!

I thought it was funny

I enjoyed this book It's my second time listening to it and I still laughed through parts of it. it's a formula stiry, but it still takes talent to make the formula interesting and more talent to make it funny.

Where's the slapstick?

First let me admit that I haven't listened to this completely. I've started it several times. I can't get more than an hour or two into it before I'm bored out of my mind and have to switch to something else to keep from falling asleep. The author starts off saying this is a slapstick comedy, but since I haven't laughed yet, I have to wonder what she was thinking.

Trusting Crusie to amuse

I’m fairly certain that I’ve read this before, and I have to admit that I think I enjoy ACTUALLY reading Crusie’s books way more than listening to them, but audible works great when I’m on the run, in the car, or at the gym (how some people can read while working out is beyond me). Ultimately this is just classic Crusie, if you like her you’ll like this book. The performance was good, but not amazing. The story is easier to follow when reading than when listening, but is cute no matter.
