Publisher's Summary

I remember the lights.

I remember I wanted to photograph them, the way the red and blue splashed across his cold, emotionless face. But I knew even if my feet could move from the place where they had cemented themselves to the ground and I could run for my camera, I wouldn't be able to capture that moment.

I had trusted him, I had loved him, and even though my body had changed that summer, he'd made sure to help me hold on to who I was inside, regardless of how the exterior altered.

But then everything changed.

He stole my innocence. He scarred my heart. He took everything I thought I knew about my life and fast-pitched it out the window, shattering the glass that held my world together in the process.

I remember the lights.

The passionate, desperate, hot strikes of red. The harsh, cruel, icy bolts of blue.

They symbolized everything I endured that summer.

And everything I would never face again.

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫

This is almost like 2 books in one. The first half is about a girl with serious self-esteem issues and how she is learning to make the changes she needs to become a stronger women. Then BAM the 2nd half is suspense/mystery kind of. That being said I loved the 1st story line so much! I could feel exactly what she was feeling and I cheering her on. But the rest of the story was a little obvious for me, sort of saw that coming from a million miles away. The love story was perfect, Rhodes was perfect, he was the only one in her life who loved her the way she was and wanted her to be happy with herself. I did very much enjoy this story and couldn't stop listening.

Wow, this book took me by surprise!

I really loved this book! The main character is dealing with the heartbreak of her high school sweetheart breaking up with her the summer after high school. She has to figure out what to do with her life, and discover who she really is.

Excellent Story!!!

I loved this book! Natalie has never been happy in her own skin, she was just unaware of this. It took a break up for life to come into perspective for her. She gets signed up for training sessions and life changes. She decides change is necessary. She works to make a healthy lifestyle. In the process she finds self confidence. I loved the suspense and drama in the mix. Great book! Great read.

Loved it

Weightless is my first Kandi Steiner novel and I loved it. The story had an important message, to be happy with the way you are and if you want to make changes, do it for yourself not for anyone else. The story had alot happening and there were some twists you would not see coming but it all served to keep you hooked on the story.
The story was narrated by Marie Mitchell who did a great job bringing the characters to life. I loved it and would highly recommend it.

Enjoyed the story but enjoyed not guessing the end even more. Enjoyed that everyone got what they deserved.

SURPRISE

Natalie’s journey is emotional, frustrating and inspiring. This book tells stories of insecurities and struggles surrounding self worth, from two different perspectives. It turned out to be so much more than I expected.

Another Great KS Read

4.5 Stars I have loved every Kandi Steiner book I have picked up, but I was worried about this one. I knew this dealt with weight, and I did not want to read a book about body shaming. I am glad I finally gave it a chance, as it was not anything like I thought it was going to be. I instantly connected with Natalie. She is not your typical skinny girl, and you learn about some of the struggles she had felt in school. I faced some of the same things she mentioned. Natalie is dealing with accepting who she is no matter her size. The first half of the story felt more Young Adult, and the second half is more New Adult. I actually did not mind either way. I also love that there is a little bit of a mystery going on within the story. This also took a very different turn that I was expecting. I was shocked towards the ending as I was not expecting what happened. Overall, this is another book I have enjoyed from Kandi!

Learning to see your own self worth.
It was hard for me to identify with...or really even like Natalie. She is always down on herself, indecisive, and let's people walk all over her. I was happy to see her change and come into herself throughout the book.
Rhodes is what made this book for me, although he also seems to be down on himself, he also has a quiet strength.
This book was also so so surprising...heading in a direction that I just did not see coming. I was very satisfied with the ending and the narrator did a nice job if bringing the book to life.

Sucker for underdog stories...

This is one of those books that I kind of stumbled upon and decided I wanted to read pretty quickly and without a lot of research, which I usually do. I was surprised by how much I liked the story and ended up finishing it within a couple of days. I am a sucker for underdog stories and this made me love Rhodes and root for him the whole time. Rhodes is one of those characters that draws you in because you want to know more and can tell that he's not a bad person, despite what everyone else says and thinks. The author really makes you concentrate on him as opposed to Nat's ex, whom she frustratingly concentrates on too much in the beginning. Also...it's super cute that Rhodes' nick name for Nat is Bug. He's supposed to be this super in shape, intimidating dude..but when he calls her Bug it's adorable.

I have to say, too, that the steamy parts were hella more steamy than I was expecting and I was taken back by that a bit...but, hey, that's not a bad thing. We're all adults here! lol

Nat was an amazing character and I found that I really liked her ability to stay calm and make good decisions and speak her mind even when the people around her were being unreasonable. She originally has an issue with her confidence, but this story shows how people are able to overcome personal foibles, which is no easy feat.

I think that Marie Mitchell did a great job, but apparently I've been spoiled with amazing narrators in my previous reads because in the beginning she seemed to just be reading instead of using emotions or inflections, but I also noticed that she got a whole lot better throughout the book and overall I think she did great.

The ending totally threw me, but I apparently suck at guessing endings because my fiance usually figures them out right after understanding the premise (to almost any story, it's frustrating); so the ending may not be as big a surprise to everyone as it was to me. Kudos to the author for adding an unexpected ending to go along with an already good story. I definitely recommend this one!

Just Wow!

OMG! I loved this book. There are so many amazing things to love about this book. This book seriously have me all the feels.

I really loved listening to this audiobook. Marie Mitchell was amazing. She did a great job bringing Nat to life and make me fall in love with her character. Despite the fact that Nat is insecure about her weight, she still speaks her mind, especially when it comes to Rhodes. Rhodes is such a tortured character and I loved him so much. His past a situation is complicated, but Nat was exactly what he needed in his life.

Kandi Steiner is an amazing author. This was my first book by her and I'm completely in love. The writing is on point. The story flows so great and is addictive. This book will stick with you long after reading it. Add the amazing narration if Marie Mitchell and this bad boy has it all. I definitely recommend listening to this audiobook. It quickly became one of my favorites that I will be listening to again and again.

Disappointing story development

This started off with promise and I can say that the writing was inviting and engaging. What led to my clear dislike of the book were the weak main characters with a propensity to repeatedly flip-flop emotionally and the lack of depth to the storyline. I can say I disliked the hero Rhodes, he messed the heroine, Natalie around ridiculously. She was a sap, she started her weight loss journey because of a boy and orientated her life and self around her next relationship.

There were unbelievable turns in the story especially (view spoiler)

My heart sunk when I got past midway in this audio, the story deteriorated, the characters lost my engagement. I can’t recommend this book and I’m sad about my experience because I’ve heard a lot of good about this author. Maybe I chose the wrong book, maybe I’ll try again with another book at some point.

The narration was strong throughout and that helped me to finish the audiobook.
