Publisher's summary

When wills clash and hearts collide, who will reign victorious?

Termed an Incomparable during her first London season, Lady Harriett Cavendish is beautiful, spirited, and confident, capturing the attention of a great many suitors. Unfortunately, they all failed to capture her attention, and she concluded the season as unattached as she'd begun it.

Only weeks prior to her second season, Harriett encounters Lieutenant Christopher Jamison while visiting Tanglewood Manor. Recently returned from war, the lieutenant is everything that Harriett's previous suitors were not. He's arrogant, ungentlemanly, irritating, and challenges her at every opportunity. When he goes too far, Harriett decides that it's time to turn the tables on him. But as she sets out to put the lieutenant in his place once and for all, she discovers there is more to him than meets the eye, and when it comes to matters of the heart, she has no control whatsoever.

Humorous and Heartwarming

This is the perfect example of why I listen to audio books! I want to be uplifted from the pressures of life, reminded of spiritual values, laugh some and be delighted with the happy ending! Thank you so much Rachael Anderson. The narration was perfect! Helen Taylor.

Great, CLEAN Story

Well written story...and it's CLEAN. I truly enjoy period stories such as this. I found myself laughing and getting angry all throughout the book. The narrator was good but not my favorite...BUT still good. I want to listen to more in this series now.

An Excellent Series

Greatly enjoyed all 3 of the novels in this series. Literally laughed out loud more than once. Particularly appreciate this author does not need graphic sex scenes to tell these stories of true love. Will continue to read other works by her.

First to make me cry in a while

Really sweet story thet blends seamlessly with the other two companion books.
I actually cried at the sweet conclusion, but enjoyed the teasing and quips the whole way through.

Light, delightful and whimsical romance . . .

This third book of the Tanglewood trilogy is just as delightful as the previous two. Not overly complex, the books are light and whimsical in nature, this third one even more than the others. All in all, I would describe them as beautiful fairy tales for adults. And since I am a child at heart who always loved a sweet romantic story (and still do), I enjoyed the Tanglewood novels for the fairy tales they are. If you enjoy a good fairy tale on occasion as well, then you can’t go wrong with these novels. What’s more, the narration by Helen Taylor was spot on!

Other books in series far surpass this story

I loved the first two books of this series and felt the depth in the main characters from each of those stories. I found Lady Harriett to be annoying. She felt so immature to me. I don’t know what Lieutenant Christopher Jamison saw in her. I just don’t felt like she had much depth to her, was easily swayed, and didn’t know herself enough to be so incredibly particular in what she wanted in a husband. She couldn’t even pick out a bonnet on her own for heavens sake haha Her expectations of a husband seemed incredible in comparison to what she was offering in return. I also don’t see how their “future” is expected to be successful when he is just dim witted when it comes to girls. He’s not all of a sudden going to be a professional at communicating, and being the poster child for showing emotion, maturely. It felt rushed at the end with the resolution as well. There are good bones there. I just felt like more character development on both ends was needed to make the story more convincing as to their compatibility. I mean, I still finished it and was happy they ended up together. I just found myself annoyed over and over with her insurmountable expectations of him, to the point where it seemed he couldn’t do anything right. And then him being daft over and over.
