Publisher's Summary
An unexpected fortune falls into a tradeswoman’s lap, a gentleman insists it rightfully belongs to him, will falling in love make matters better or worse?
A third son to an earl, Adam Gillensford knows his only hope of an inheritance is through his great uncle. But when the Will is read, Adam learns most of the wealth has been left to a complete stranger, and a seamstress at that. If he hopes to salvage any kind of funds for himself, he has two choices: adhere to his late uncle’s wishes and assist the new heiress in finding her way, or sabotage her so the courts will find her unfit to inherit. Deciding his course would be easier if the heiress wasn’t so enchanting.
Elaine Chapple, a woman in trade, is rather used to being seen as unusual. But running her own dress shop is far different from discovering a man she barely knew left his entire estate in her care. As unexpected as the fortune is, the help of the gentleman attached to it is even more perplexing. Does Mr. Gillensford mean to make her a success, or a fool?
With a greedy family urging Adam to act for his own good, and Elaine’s difficulty in adapting to her new life, only love could possibly untangle this mess.

Sweet. Creative. Unique.
A sweet and tender love story The H journeys toward finding the strength of character his uncle knows he possesses by having his inheritance tied to assisting the h (a sweet and unselfish tradeswoman) learn her new role, even though the she was given part of what the H expected to receive. The story is clean and refreshingly unique and creative. The narrator is excellent and enhances the story beautifully. I will be listening to this one again.

Sweet and tender love story!
4.5* This was such a sweet story. I listened to the audiobook of it and found myself transported within the story. I loved the imagery of the different locations as well as the little vignette of Elaine's small shop. The image of the children in the cozy living room, the fire crackling, a sweet unconventional family being together on a rainy day. The stranger appearing and being welcomed into their small and inviting home. It was very charming. I loved the surprise awaiting Elaine when she realized that the stranger was a wealthy landowner and not a heartbroken poor man. I loved her sweetness in befriending others and allowing anyone into her family who was in need. I loved the way that through her gentle kindness she was able to influence and help change the hearts of those around her. One in particular. Adam Gillensford loved his uncle dearly and is extremely surprised to learn that he didn't leave Adam his estate and holdings but asked him to support and be a steward and guide to the sweet Elaine Chappel, who just happens to be a tradeswoman with two young wards. Adam's family is in an uproar. He is unsure of how to act but tries to feel out the situation on his own. I loved these two. I loved the way that they strengthened each other and how their friendship slowly blossomed. Especially amidst the trials and frustrations thrown at Elaine from the Gillensford family. I can't imagine the way she was treated just because she earned an honest living and wasn't made of money or had an aristocratic family heritage. But I loved her gentleness and continued kindness. It's a sweet love story for sure. One I would recommend to readers who love sweet and gentle stories. Content: Clean Happy Listening!!!

Well-written
I have a problem with Sally Britton’s books. I never finish. Not because the books are bad, but because they are so well-done. I can only listen to a few chapters before I feel inspired to try writing myself. Now, it would be simple to enjoy these books as a reader. The narrator is very talented. I loved her varied voices and different accents for each character. The books are sweet, funny, have happy endings, great characters, etc. I am sure you will find many reviews that elaborate on the entertainment value of this novel. In short, there is a reason these books sell so well. But they have a second utility. They are great for the many writers of this type of fiction to study. I get caught up in noting examples of things she has done really well and highlighting lessons I need to try to implement myself. She does a fantastic job of weaving the description of the scenery into her narrative. There are these adorable little witticisms sprinkled into her writing. Like the way she explained that as a red-head, the main character was cursed to flush (you will hear the actual line and get my meaning in the first chapter). There are several books on writing that suggest one must use the first chapter to make the main character likable. In a story like this one, where a character is immediately blessed with incredible good fortune, this is element is extra important. In this first chapter, she provides no less than five solid examples of over the top charitable acts the heroine has performed, but does so in such a natural manner, the reader doesn’t feel like they are being manipulated with a heavy handed approach. Instead, they simply ends up caring about her characters. Her word choice is varied and interesting. Her pacing is perfect. It is one thing to read books on writing. It is educational and helpful. But reading Sally’s books is like seeing those lessons in practice. They say if you want to improve your own writing, you must read great writers. The books on writing are like a desk manual for the job. Reading novels that practice the skills discussed in these how-to books is more like on-the-job training. On my to-do list is to sit down with each of Sally’s books and read them all straight through. There is a lot to be learned from her technique. She is truly talented. I really appreciate receiving a free copy of this audio book. Maybe without the printed text in front of me, I can at last enjoy the tale instead of getting caught up in fan-girling over the technique.

A fun “read”
This one is really sweet, and Jessica Elisa Boyd knocks it out of the park again. I loved Elaine so much!! I love her big heart, and I wanted her to find her happily ever after. I didn’t connect as much with Adam, I felt like he would be more snobbish with all his family’s influence, but I’m so glad he decided to be a good guy after all.

Good book!
I liked this story, it was written very well, and the storyline was great! It had a very good premise, and the female main character was very sensible, and intelligent. I like female characters like that. And I feel that the male main character's portrayal as a man out to get things for himself, and becoming selfless as he fell deeper in love with the female main character, was very believeable. There wasn't a lot of maudlin actions, or the characters questioning themselves in their thinking (which I very much dislike!) The female main character, Elaine, was strong, and stood up for herself. She wasn't a wilting flower as so many authors of this genre make their characters. Elaine had a good heart and had taken in two children as a single women without much income. The male main character, Adam, was not forthcoming at first, but become honest with Elaine as he began falling in love with her. I thought it was very clever when the servants, knowing that Elaine had a poor background but was so good hearted and freindly, talked her up to their fellow servants in order to give her a good standing in society. The narrator, Jessica Elisa Boyd, was very good with the character's voices. She did not narrate too fast or too slow, but (as baby bear discovered) she was "just right". When there is a good narrator it makes it so much easier to listen to a book. The narrator, no matter how good the book is, can make or break a book, and this narrator definitely "made" the book for author, Sally Britton.

A Favorite to Read Again and Again
I absolutely loved this story, it is possibly one of my favorites by this author so far. The narration is wonderful and truly captured the feeling in each character. Without giving to much away I adored the Uncle and the twist at the end! This is definitely a read that is worth your time especially if you are a hopeless romantic like myself! Elaine's goodness that compliments Adam makes them the perfect pair. She is his lady and he a noble knight! You simply must read this one if you love a HEA, whether by audible, ebook, or paperback this is one I will definitely re-read again! delightful clean historical romance
A delightful well written clean historical romance. This engaging story is smooth flowing with wonderful details as this beautiful story has the characters learning humility through a love. The characters are interesting, complex, and spend lots of time together slowly finding true love. The narrator does an excellent job of differentiating between many characters and deep enough redintion of deep male voices.

Charming Regency Romance
"An unexpected fortune falls into a tradeswoman’s lap, a gentleman insists it rightfully belongs to him, will falling in love make matters better or worse?" I thoroughly enjoyed this unique and charming story. Narration is as important to me as the writing style and story line and the narration, writing, and story were very well done. I was caught up in the plot and character development, especially of Mr. Gillensford. I looked forward to my next opportunity to listen and see how the story and relationship between Mr. Gillensford and Miss Chapple would progress. My favorite quote from this story is the "reminder that there is always a little sunshine to be had." Listen and enjoy the sunshine and satisfaction that this audiobook will bring into your life!

Beautiful story
great content, well paced and really well narrated which makes such a difference. Lovely romance without too much angst, the story held its own, I really liked the second characters.

Very Well Written and Performed
His Unexpected Heiress by Sally Britton is a wonderfully written story. I loved the main characters, Elaine and Adam, and how they helped each other find themselves. I can't tell you how excited I was when Adam actually offered an apology! Some how that action won me over all the more. That seems to happen so rarely in regency romance books. Jessica Elisa Boyd does a fantastic job bringing the story to life. Highly recommend for lovers of clean regency romance.

Another fantastic story by Britton!
Another fantastic story by Sally Britton. Each step of the storyline had me enthralled and just wanting more and the narration was brilliant! Each time I’ve listened to an audiobook narrated by Jessica Elisa Boyd, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. This story is part of a series and collaboration with other authors, so whilst it can be read or listened to as a stand-alone, I highly recommend checking out the others in the series. One feature of this series that I really enjoyed is the solicitor - who is the same for all of the books throughout the series. I find him more endearing with each encounter.

narrator does a good job with a pretty insipid story. overall I found this disappointing.
